Immortal Mystery Sequence: I Establish a Divine Duty for Heaven and Earth

Rui Tu, Xin Ping Cheng.

Beneath the Buddhist hall, deep in the soil.

Luo Dazhuang dragged Li Shitou through the mud, pushing his earth-遁 (earth-遁 is a technique that allows one to escape through mud) to its limit. However, Li Shitou had already used earth-遁 three times today, and being forcibly dragged underground made him feel a strong sense of suffocation and compression. His lungs felt as if they were filled with mud, and every breath he took carried a strong smell of blood.

The body is being repelled by the soil and could be forced out of the ground at any moment.

Luo Dazhuang gritted his teeth, gripping him tightly to keep going. He knew he couldn't hold on for long, but he was still desperately pushing forward.

suddenly--

boom!

A chant exploded from the ground, penetrating several meters of soil and going straight underground.

Followed by.

A dazzling golden light from Buddha tore through the night, illuminating the night sky of New Ping City as if it were daytime.

A giant golden Buddha hand floated in the sky, its five fingers spread out, the lines on its palm clearly visible. A strong sense of oppression swept over you. The supernatural powers and Buddhist teachings that remained from the old era had not completely disappeared with the severance of the path to immortality!

An ancient and majestic Buddhist chant resounded throughout the city!

"The Buddha's heart is compassionate and forbids killing, but the Buddha also has a wrathful side; those who kill my Buddhist disciples, those who trample on the dignity of my Buddhist community—will surely be executed!"

Before the words were even finished, the golden Buddha hand suddenly pressed down!

boom!

Rumble rumble rumble—

The earth trembled violently as the Buddha's hand struck down, leaving a huge palm print that was ten feet deep in the area where the temple was located.

Farmers, peasants, and slaves within the area of the palm print were all smashed into a pulp, indistinguishable from one another... Those outside the palm print were all violently thrown away by the wind and waves. Some crashed into the wall and broke their bones, while others were torn apart by the shockwave and lay on the ground howling in agony.

A large crowd gathered, and in an instant, more than half of them were killed or injured!

The power of that single palm strike was terrifying!

But... that's not all.

The Buddha's hand did not dissipate but slowly rose, its five fingers closing to form a mudra. The ancient Buddhist chant resounded once more, chilling to the bone—

"Those who incite rebellion should be executed! Go away!"

A golden light detached from the Buddha's hand and shot into the earth like an arrow, chasing after the fleeing aura underground.

Luo Dazhuang felt a chill run down his spine.

A deadly threat!

A sense of perception echoing from the depths of the earth told him that the golden light was tracking them at a speed far exceeding that of earth-遁 (earth-遁 is a type of magic or magic that can be used to escape from the earth).

His eyes were bloodshot, and he instinctively rolled over to shield Li Shitou beneath him.

But Li Shitou, with a strength he didn't know he possessed, stomped on the other man's chest and said hoarsely, "Brother Dazhuang, you can still use earth magic... Run! My life is over... I can't go back..."

"fart!"

Luo Dazhuang wanted to curse, but before he could finish speaking, Li Shitou had already broken free from his grasp and actively faced the dazzling golden light!

"No--!"

Luo Dazhuang reached out but couldn't grab anything—

The golden light crashed into Li Shitou's chest, and his body disintegrated inch by inch in the Buddha's light, his flesh and blood exploding, like a moth drawn to a flame.

At the same time, the aftershocks of the golden light swept over, and half of Luo Dazhuang's body was also swallowed up, his flesh rolled up and his bones exposed... The intense pain made his vision go black and the world spin!

……

……

The headquarters of Lao Nong Tang, in seclusion.

buzzing.

The earth trembled slightly, and a rumbling sound came from afar, shaking the ground.

The stone gate, which had not been opened for five years, suddenly burst open!

Luo Jin stepped out, the aura of the farm road emanating from him surging like a spring tide, almost merging with the earth beneath his feet. With each step he took, the soil beneath his feet would rise and fall, rippling as if the earth was supporting him as he walked.

However, that energy was unstable, rising and falling unpredictably.

"A breakthrough has been achieved! The sect leader has emerged from seclusion!!"

"This! This is a new level?! This is amazing!!"

The farmers who stayed behind at headquarters were almost all on the verge of tears when they saw the gates open. In the past five years, the Old Farmers' Hall had gone from being prosperous to splitting up internally, and then to a bloody uprising overnight. Everyone had been waiting for this moment!

The sect leader has finally broken through the barrier!

But at this moment, there was no joy on Luo Jin's face.

He sensed... the blood of those who had died, the blood of hundreds of farmers, and an indescribable sorrow, anger, and remorse rose within him.

"Something's happened!"

His voice was deep, and the soil beneath his feet had already been turned upside down. He was about to use his earth-遁 (earth-遁 is a technique for escaping into the ground) to rush into the battle formation.

Just then—

Rumble rumble rumble!

The ground churned violently, cracking open, and a bloodied and mangled figure rolled out of the ground.

Luo Dazhuang.

Half of his body was shattered!

His left arm was reduced to a single bone below the shoulder, his left eye was rotten, and his face was covered in charred wounds. He was covered in blood and supported himself on the ground with his only remaining right hand, his fingers tightly gripping a mangled, severed finger.

Upon seeing Luo Jin, all his strength seemed to drain away, and he collapsed to his knees, his forehead slamming into the ground.

"Master... Li Shitou... perished under the influence of the great Buddhist practice... his body was never found...! It's my fault... it's all my fault..."

The moment the severed finger was handed to Luo Jin, Luo Dazhuang couldn't hold on any longer and collapsed forward, completely losing consciousness.

Luo Jin took the severed finger, his body trembling violently.

Five years of seclusion, five years of patience, five years of quiet cultivation—all seemed to collapse at this moment.

How could this be?!

How could this be!

His already unstable seventh-grade aura suddenly became chaotic, surging, out of control, and collapsed. A hot, sweet, and metallic taste rushed to his throat, followed by a mouthful of blood. He staggered and fell to the ground, his aura plummeting!

puff--!!

"Master!"

The surrounding farmers rushed over in a panic; some helped him up, some went to get medicine, and some paced anxiously in circles.

Luo Jin waved his hand and insisted, "The lineage of Buddhism, Taoism, and Immortality has not been severed... The agricultural path is declining! Retreat! Retreat immediately!! Destroy the headquarters, everyone retreat to Shennong Valley... No one is allowed to leave without my order."

He looked down at the unconscious and severely injured Luo Dazhuang and called out, "Quickly, bring me some high-quality medicinal herbs!"

……

……

At an infinite height.

Jiang Tu watched all of this, speechless for a long time.

This, this...

The First Serf Revolution was likely the first major agricultural event experienced in the evolutionary timeline!

The entire story was full of twists and turns, with no dull moments; he couldn't stop watching.

Now that it was finally over, he couldn't help but feel a little sentimental.

Li Shitou sacrificed himself, Luo Dazhuang was severely injured, and Luo Jin encountered a backlash from his realm just after breaking through to the seventh rank. Due to this calamity, the Old Farmer Hall suffered heavy losses, and almost all of its core cultivators were wiped out!

This blow... is far too great!

"Indeed, the development of things is never a straight upward path; there will inevitably be various ups and downs and tribulations along the way! There is no blessing of 'endless life' in the process of evolution, and I wonder if the Old Farmer's Hall can rise again..."

He can now only pin his hopes on Luo Jin, a good leader, to lead the agricultural industry to a comeback.

This serfdom rebellion also greatly broadened his understanding of evolutionary timelines and the true history of 30,000 years ago!

"The path to immortality is clearly severed, but the foundations of Buddhism and Taoism are profound. Even after the great migration across thousands of miles and the backlash from the path to immortality, they were not completely wiped out! They still retain some trump cards and power, and the old Buddha's actions this time are the biggest evidence of this! What exactly is hidden behind this?"

"Some magical artifacts left behind? The legacy of powerful beings? Or some unique inheritance? Does this mean that Buddhism and Taoism really still have some kind of inheritance left behind... which gave rise to the powerful Eastern Taoism and Western Buddhism that are now 30,000 years later?"

Jiang Tu fell into deep thought.

But... is the Buddhist lineage truly a legitimate one? Shouldn't a legitimate Buddhist lineage be based on compassion?

It was reasonable for the Buddha to take action this time, killing Li Shitou and other cultivators and those who started the war. However, many people who were powerless to fight back were also caught in the Buddha's hand and smashed into mincemeat. Killing countless people at every turn, there was no trace of the Buddha's compassion. This killing aura was too ruthless.

There's a problem! Even if the lineage still exists, it must have changed! It's definitely not the original, orthodox lineage!

With Buddhism and Taoism exerting such strong pressure here, the future development of agriculture is in grave danger!

At this point, Luo Jin's decisive decision to abandon everything at the Old Farmer's Hall and completely hide in Shennong Valley was the most correct choice! And the only choice!

……

……

[Year 33]

The First Serfdom Rebellion ended in a disastrous defeat.

The people of Xinping City were utterly terrified by the Buddha's palm, and from then on, no one dared to look up at the Buddha Hall.

The Buddhist and Taoist sects began a city-wide purge of the remnants of the Old Farmer's Hall, investigating every stronghold and even leaving out villages and towns outside the city. Farmers and Taoist cultivators were found and killed on the spot, and any farmers, herbalists, or merchants who had dealings with the Old Farmer's Hall were either expelled or executed.

The Old Farmer's Hall suffered a severe blow, with most of its core cultivators lost.

Only sixty-five cultivators and several hundred ordinary farmers escaped into Shennong Valley, sealed off the valley entrance, and completely disappeared from the world.

[Year 34]

Shennong Valley is experiencing its first harvest since it went into seclusion.

The valley has cultivated thousands of acres of fertile land, with over a hundred high-quality crops. The crops are growing remarkably well under the nourishment of the fertile soil and water in the valley. Even more gratifying is that Luo Jin's cultivation level has been restored, and his seventh rank has been stabilized.

He began to explore the new abilities of the seventh rank one by one.

The first technique I mastered was called "Pinching the Elixir Method".

Luo Jin casually plucked an ordinary ear of wheat and held it in his palm. With a flick of his fingers, the ear of wheat quickly dried, shriveled, and disintegrated in his palm, and a drop of pure green liquid condensed in his palm. As he pinched his fingertips, it solidified into a pill!

A faint, pleasant aroma of grain wafted from within.

—The Elixir of Fasting!

A single ear of wheat can be easily refined into a pill that keeps one from hunger for three days!

Luo Jin tried herbs again. He pinched his fingers and condensed a hemostatic herb into liquid, which quickly solidified into two pills. The quality and efficacy were several times stronger than the ointments and pills boiled on the earthen stove. They melted in his mouth and were completely pure medicinal power without any impurities!

From then on, farmers in Shennong Valley no longer needed to brew medicine when injured; Luo Jin could simply pinch a handful of ingredients to extract concentrated medicinal liquid and pills.

The method of pinching the elixir becomes instinctive; one can pick and refine it as needed, without the need for a furnace or complicated auxiliary materials. There is no limit to the number of times one can use it each day, as long as one has spare energy!

Using the pills from the alchemy technique, Luo Jin pulled Luo Dazhuang back from the brink of death, but his lost left arm and left eye could never grow back. From then on, he became taciturn and no longer held any position in the valley. Every day, he would go to the fields to weed before dawn and return only after dark.

When others speak to him, he will at most nod, no longer shouting as loudly as before. Li Shitou's death has almost become his inner demon.

Aside from the pill-pinching technique, Luo Jin's existing abilities have also been comprehensively enhanced.

Celestial phenomenon perception can accurately sense changes in weather over the next three days and predict the trajectory of minor natural disasters in advance.

The Earth's perception extends from a radius of several miles to the entire valley, making the movement of every inch of land clearly visible, and the movement and speech of people on the ground perfectly clear.

The Earth Escape Technique has evolved into the Great Earth Escape Technique, which can carry up to two people to traverse underground at the same time, with a greater range and four times a day.

The Earth-Moving Technique transformed into the Earth-Shaking Technique. Luo Jin reached out and pressed down in the air, and an earthen wall instantly rose up on the ground beside him, as solid as bluestone. When he chopped it with a wood-chopping knife, it could only leave a white mark. He hooked his five fingers, and the earthen wall transformed into a row of sharp spikes that broke through the soil, layer upon layer, as dense as a forest!

It can be used for both offense and defense!

He could build all the defensive fortifications in Shennong Valley by himself in just a few days.

He believed that the Dan-pinching technique was just the beginning, and that as his cultivation improved, he would be able to master more extraordinary agricultural techniques.

Looking across the entire valley, some people were tilling the land, some were sowing seeds, and some were harvesting high-quality medicinal herbs. Everything was finally settling down.

Spring comes and autumn goes, the valley enjoys favorable weather and abundant harvests year after year, and develops steadily.

The Buddhist and Taoist forces outside the valley are still conducting a purge, but the valley entrance is tightly sealed off, and there is miasma outside, so outsiders can't find it at all.

Five years passed peacefully like this.

For five years, no one mentioned Li Shitou's name again, but no one forgot him. People still worshipped him in the valley, offering incense and prayers every night. Every year, there was a special Serfs' Day to commemorate the souls of those who perished in the serfdom upheaval.
