It will be available tomorrow at 0 AM.

It's time to put it on the shelves again.

I've been writing books for years, one after another, and I've lost count of how many times they've been published. What I do remember is how many times they've flopped.

Yeah, probably all of them (laughs)

First of all, I would like to thank all the readers for their support.

I hope all the brothers who have followed this far can give me a first subscription. Life is tough, please.

If they could give me a follow-up order after the initial order, that would be perfect, hehe.

I'll be releasing ten chapters with around 4,000 words on the day of release tomorrow, with five chapters at midnight and five at noon, each around 4,000 words. After that, I'll be updating normally twice a day with around 7,000 words.

I originally had about 100,000 words in reserve, and the plan was to update 20 chapters a day. However, I was sick for almost ten days and couldn't write a single word. I almost sent it away. Now I'm almost fully recovered, and I'll squeeze out the rest of the reserve before putting it on the shelves. If you have money, please support me financially. Thank you.

(The following content is not closely related to the main text; readers who do not wish to read it may skip it.)

……

I would like to thank the editor, Qingzhou, for editing this book.

Speaking of this book, starting it was a very bumpy road.

Those who have read my previous book may know that this was not the book I originally intended to write. However, when I was working on the outline, I realized that there was too much to write in one book.

My ideas are too big to fit in one book (not really).

Therefore, the concept of one book can only be split into three books; this is only the first one.

However, just developing the setting and overall outline of this book almost killed me. I roughly calculated that the outline, world view, sequence setting, and volume outline after various revisions have exceeded 300,000 words, which is more than the current main text.

I'm not a complete novice when it comes to online novels anymore. I know that sometimes the more you prepare for writing a book, the easier it is to fail. This is because preparing too much in advance means that the story has a high threshold. The various settings and storylines are too complicated and can easily discourage readers. Moreover, as I get older, I often feel less capable when writing.

During the years when my writing desire was at its peak, I could write 30,000 words a day without stopping, even if it was just low-quality writing like buyouts for 15 or 20 per thousand, I still enjoyed it.

That's not possible now. A single chapter can take me two or three hours to finish, and I'm always thinking about refining it to perfection.

I feel dissatisfied with this and that, and I also feel that I probably won't be able to write many more books.

The market hasn't been doing well these past few years, and my passion for writing has been slowly fading. I've gradually come to realize that I don't have much talent, and as I get older, I'm losing my enthusiasm. I don't know when, but I've decided to change careers. Before I do, I want to write as many stories as possible that I can be satisfied with.

There's no point in going on about these trivial matters. All I want to say is that the process of starting this book was indeed quite bumpy. I won't go into the six months of preparation we did in the early stages, but the beginning alone was revised about a dozen times.

I submitted my manuscript to about ten editors, but none of them accepted it.

I revised it every time I was rejected, but in the end, it was Qingzhou who saved me. And the most magical thing is that the one that was approved by Qingzhou was the first version without any modifications. So all my revisions were for nothing?

This is not the first edition; I revised and simplified it again before the official release.

The first version is not much different from the current one, except that it is a bit more verbose and detailed, but the overall structure is completely the same.

In short, I am very grateful to Zhou for saving me; I had originally planned to scrap this book.

本书开局还算不错,8万字左右在没任何读者基础的情况下就拥有400+收藏和160的追读,我也是头一次知道入库原来每天能涨50、60的收藏。

I've hardly seen any books written on Qidian in recent years, so I thought this one really had a chance to become popular.

After the first round, the number of reads only increased by a few dozen. The second round saw a slightly larger increase, but that was the end of it. After that, the number gradually dropped and then leveled off, rarely increasing again. Only during the climax of the story would the number of reads increase slightly before leveling off again.

To be honest, I never expected that this reading would go through four rounds. I think the only explanation is that Zhou Da gave me a hand.

It stumbled and fell on four wheels, and it also stumbled and fell to the shelves.

If I subscribe after it's released, I'll be lucky to get it; if not, then it's just my fate.

I write diligently. If you find the story interesting and enjoyable, come in and take a look. If you're not interested, leave. I'll see you off with tears in my eyes.

I only ask for enough income to barely make ends meet. I also have a small part-time job that barely provides a monthly income. With both incomes combined, I'm satisfied as long as I can survive.

Those who write books are really just trying to get by.

Without further ado, let's briefly discuss the updates after the book's release and its future developments.

[1. Issues with subsequent updates]

This book will not be cut, so please don't worry about that.

With so many sunk costs already, and having written this far, cutting this book is no different from self-castration. I've already said I'll write as much as I can before changing careers, and I'm not hoping for any great wealth or overnight success from a single book.

I didn't actually want to cut the previous book.

Poor grades aren't that important; the main problem is that I'm writing poorly. I just can't seem to get into it, so I only stop when I absolutely can't continue. Even so, before I stopped, I did a month-long, ten-thousand-word update of 10,000 words a day for over ten consecutive days. You can check my record.

The book shows no signs of falling apart yet. The development of each plot line is under control and interconnected. It is probably the most solid and stable book I have written in many years.

If there won't be a major avalanche within at least three million words, I can keep writing.

I've never tried writing more than three million words before, so we'll see if I can handle it.

My current productivity is like this, especially after the pandemic. I can only write a maximum of three chapters a day before I feel dizzy and lightheaded, and it's difficult to concentrate. It's probably very difficult to write a lot of chapters at once.

I occasionally save up a few chapters for unexpected situations, but normally I'll update twice a day, taking it one step at a time. Unless there's a major change, I won't easily stop updating. I'll update once at midnight and once at midnight every day.

[2. Bonus Chapter Standard]

Here's something random, better than nothing, just something to have some fun.

The minimum subscription is 500, and one more chapter will be added for every 200 additional subscriptions.

An extra chapter will be added for every 30,000 Qidian coins donated.

3. About the tone of this book

The main theme of this book revolves around the protagonist's rise from humble beginnings to defy fate, the epic development of the sequence over a large time scale, the parallel development of ancient and modern times and the changes of the present world, and the life, death, joys and sorrows of a large group of characters. The plot will continue to unfold around these four aspects.

Therefore, the story's development inevitably involves some joys and sorrows, ups and downs, laughter and tears, due to its epic feel and sense of historical destiny. There will be many tragedies involving characters and the times, and there will be aspects that leave the reader with a sense of unease.

For some readers, this content may be too heavy and depressing, making them want to abandon the book, or even leading to further insults and attacks.

However, this is also to make the story more substantial and to give meaning to everything gained. If there is no support and sacrifice, what is the point of the sequence development and growth, and the protagonist's upgrade and improvement?

Getting whatever you want is actually boring.

Achievements gained through joy and sorrow are more meaningful; what is hard-won is cherished, and this has always been the case.

Without overcoming countless trials and tribulations, how can one truly appreciate the value of the scriptures?

There are only two things I can guarantee.

1. No abuse of the main character.

This is, after all, an entertaining and enjoyable story, not a product of self-indulgence.

Therefore, the protagonist usually only has a behind-the-scenes perspective, strategizing and planning, and only the supporting characters and enemies suffer. The direct damage to the protagonist is very limited.

Even when they do appear in public, it's usually a public spectacle where everyone is in awe, and they don't do it often; they mainly develop their careers behind the scenes.

2. It avoids preaching, meets readers' expectations, and provides space for emotional release as much as possible.

Even the most suppressed emotions will eventually find an outlet.

I won't force you to listen or lecture me.

What I hate most are those stories where you feel frustrated for ages, only to be told a whole bunch of moral lessons without letting you vent your emotions. They call it "realism," but this is online fiction, not some traditional literature that's going to win a realism award.

Therefore, the story is interspersed with many slapstick and playful scenes to frequently adjust and ease the mood, allowing readers to catch their breath.

Every effort will be rewarded, and every hard work and sacrifice will yield results; the greater the sacrifice, the greater the reward.

All the people who have sacrificed themselves in the story so far, from Li Shitou, Luo Dazhuang, Xu Lin, to Qi Ping and Luo Jin, all died meaningfully and gave significant rewards in the future.

Give a simple example.

My enemy impersonated my wife, kidnapped my daughter, and divided her into several pieces to be guarded by different families. I fought my way through all the families to rescue my daughter and even perished with my enemy. This death was meaningful.

I'm a good father, and I felt great after killing all the enemies; I finally let out a lot of pent-up frustration.

Although I died, I did so willingly.

My daughter is back too. She's beautiful and has a sweet voice. She can even support a DLC on her own. Isn't that great?

But if my father/beloved elder is tortured to death by an enemy with a golf club, and I go out to seek revenge, but everything I experience along the way is telling me not to seek revenge, that revenge is wrong, that the enemy is a good person, that she also has a human side, and that in the final showdown I could have killed the enemy, but instead of letting the enemy go because of my overly compassionate heart, I also have two fingers bitten off by the enemy and can no longer play the guitar, and I also lose my wife and children, my family is destroyed, and I live a lonely life.

The already pent-up frustration completely exploded.

Sorry, I could never write a plot like this in my entire life. I have a million "mmp"s I can't utter. Only someone without censorship could create such a masterpiece.

My pen name reveals just how much I despise this story and how much I want to curse the producer's ancestors for eighteen generations.

In short, no matter how many or how difficult the eighty-one tribulations may be, the true scriptures will surely be obtained.

If even this is unacceptable, then perhaps the only option is to abandon the book. That's all I can do.

[4. About the setting of this book]

The book is designed with four major systems and thirteen sequences, and the current plot is just the tip of the iceberg.

Nine of these sequences are the most complete and belong to the main storyline, and they will definitely be developed in detail. In particular, the first three sequences are the most detailed and will mainly support the development of the first three volumes of the story.

Each sequence involves a large amount of settings, development paths, skill trees, character stories, evolutionary processes, etc., none of which are repeated, but the content is indeed complex and the threshold is high, so please be mentally prepared.

Of course, these settings will be broken into the story and won't be revealed all at once. They will be gradually revealed as the world-building is unraveled. However, if you don't like complicated settings and plots, you might find it hard to watch. It's best to explain them in advance.

In addition, the remaining four sequences are special cases, belonging to side stories... Whether or not to elaborate on them depends on the subsequent plot development and reader feedback.

Readers who have followed this far should be able to see that although the first nine sequences are called nine, they are actually far more than nine, with each sequence having additional differentiations.

Due to my limited writing skills, I can only fully elaborate on nine sequences; the remaining four may not be discussed in detail.

The main focus is on the completeness of the book. If the book can be complete without detailed elaboration, then I will not elaborate further. However, if the story needs to be elaborated to be complete, and I can handle it, then I will elaborate as much as possible.

I won't say anything more, or I'll spoil it.

5. About the author

The author actually has a bit of OCD.

This kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder makes writing a thankless and arduous task.

After all, many readers read online novels for entertainment. Crimson King is primarily lighthearted and entertaining. Readers may find the foreshadowing and setup too drawn out, or even criticize it as filler. Some people may skip over it and then turn around and criticize it.

However, I will still give an answer because I plan to change careers, and this book may be the last one. I still hope to make it as perfect as possible.

I've been writing for over ten years with little success, and every book I've written on Qidian has flopped. But I still believe that my hard work will pay off and that readers will enjoy it.

If I don't even believe this much, then I might be no different from Luo Jin, whose Dao heart is shattered.

Therefore, I firmly believe that this is taking responsibility for the words I write.

I love creating, and I've been doing it every day for the past ten years.

I will pursue many details and clues. During the development of the plot, I will also break down and scatter various clues in the storyline. Almost every plot needs to go through at least two or three, or even more, details and foreshadowing before it is written.

What we seek is a natural, effortless process, a sense of sudden realization.

What I hope to see is not a plot that I come up with on a whim and write down, which I enjoy at the time and then forget, but one that readers can connect the dots themselves through the foreshadowing and clues I provide, and decipher the answer at the last moment.

It's like a mystery-solving game that readers and authors play together.

Some readers may criticize me for not seeing this, but I don't care, because I know their criticisms are baseless. That's why I never try to control the comments. I'm long past the point of constantly arguing and competing with readers; I've lost that competitive spirit...

However, I would be very happy if any readers could discover this and point it out in the comments section.

The joy of writing a book lies precisely in the process, not in repeatedly figuring out how to make it more enjoyable or how to evoke strong emotions.

And so, I've said quite a lot, but most of it was actually unnecessary.
