All-out Tower Defense: My Card-Drawing Talent is a Bit Strange

Chapter 148 The Principle of the Treasure Chest Monster

In Yang Fei's eyes, these treasure chests that had fallen into slumber were suppressed by the Tentacle Tower and the Storm Tower, so they could be put on hold for a while. Since he had enough funds, the regular items in these treasure chests were not of great significance to him, so he could let these guys cause trouble for a while.

"Congratulations, Trainee Lord Yang Fei-1! You have perfectly cleared the Daily Challenge. The basic reward is for clearing the fourth wave of the Novice Assessment on Extreme Difficulty. The basic rewards you received are: 72 jin of True Qi Rice, 720 jin of White Rice, 720 Copper Coins, 720 True Qi Rice Seeds, and 72..."

One gray crystal, 72 gray magic cores.

"It has been detected that you have completed the Doubled Limit Mode 12 times. The base reward has now been increased by 60%. Your final reward is: 115.2 catties of True Qi Rice, 1152 catties of White Rice, 1152 Copper Coins, 1152 True Qi Rice Seeds, 115 Gray Crystals, and 115 Gray Magic Cores."

"Please note that the interdimensional gate is about to close and the War Corridor is about to disappear. The next refresh time will be tomorrow morning."

Please reclaim the defensive towers on both sides of the War Corridor in time. Countdown: 5 minutes.

The daily rewards this time were pretty good, especially the more than 100 catties of True Qi Rice, which was enough to meet the needs of cultivators on the Sky Island for several days. No wonder many lords liked to slack off during the novice assessment period. Such a large reward of True Qi Rice was a great gain for Yang Fei!

After processing the daily harvest, Yang Fei dismissed everyone and, together with the succubus sisters and Sephira, arrived at the Abyss Shop. It was time to solve the problem of the swarm attack of treasure chest monsters that had been troubling him.

"Sephira, I need an item that can deal with those mimic attacks. Ideally, it should be something that can be used continuously. At the very least, I need to find a way to make our arrow towers able to see the mimics' movement paths so that our defensive towers can attack them while they're moving. Of course, it would be best if it had some area-of-effect damage. How much would that cost?"

Yang Fei didn't waste any time and directly asked Sephira about the customization service. With the 100 elite souls he had accumulated yesterday, the Abyss Shop now had a total of 300 elite beast souls. He had also unlocked the permission to exchange gold coins for other currencies. Yang Fei believed he should be able to solve this problem.

"My lord, dealing with those mimics isn't difficult; the challenge lies in detecting their movement and striking them like the two lords. I have three options available for exchange: a defensive tower, a special revealing item, and a detection aid. Which do you desire?"

Sephira's little girl-like voice clearly appeared in Yang Fei's mind. Yang Fei was stunned for a moment, then excitedly reacted: "So many, the most cost-effective—hmm~ which one can we exchange for now?"

"From a cost-effective perspective, I recommend the second option, which is a special pair of glasses that allows ordinary people to see spatial distortions. Those treasure chest monsters are just beast-level monsters. In the end, their application of space is still at the mortal stage. The so-called simultaneous appearance of two identical individuals in a space is just a spatial effect."

"To put it simply, this is the first time that a technological civilization has observed a black hole. In principle, this is just a breakthrough in the spatial and temporal domains. This technological civilization does not have the ability to enter a black hole, so this technology does not involve the more complex overlapping of time and space."

"For a technologically advanced civilization that has entered the space age, observing black holes is not difficult. All it takes is building a facility or instrument to observe black holes, and these glasses are similar to that."

"The reason we can't observe the mimic's unique movement is because we don't have the ability to observe black holes. Furthermore, time shifts occur around black holes, so from our perspective, we see phenomena similar to clones or double images."

"The movement principle of these mimics is similar to this phenomenon. They don't appear in two places at the same time, but our eyes can't see which one is the real one. It's not movement influenced by supernatural forces, it's just that we can't see the movement clearly."

"The prop that allows us to see this movement process clearly, which is the glasses I mentioned, utilizes this point. This solution is the most cost-effective because these glasses are really inexpensive."

"However, these glasses can only be used by humans; they cannot be used by automatic attack-type defense towers."

"Not many people on our Sky Island can use these glasses, and if you add the option of being a master archer, even fewer people can use them. And a wave of Mimics can send hundreds of them, so we may not be able to defend against them all. Therefore, I don't really recommend that you exchange for this item."

Sephira gave a long explanation, and Yang Fei seemed to be thinking about it. Although Sephira had said a lot of nonsense this time, she had almost perfectly answered his question about the treasure chest monsters' obvious supernatural powers. With the principle in place and the unknown resolved, he now had a way to solve the problem.

However, Sephira also raised a new problem: she didn't have enough people available to participate in the defense, and she couldn't perfectly solve the problem of the Mimic's swarm attack by using these glasses on a large scale.

Unless he sends all his Pokémon into battle and makes sure they all wear these glasses, he might be able to solve the problem of the Mimics attacking him en masse. But Yang Fei doesn't really want to do that yet.

First, even if those glasses were cheap, I couldn't afford to buy enough to equip all the elves. Second, my role for those elves wasn't to deal with these things; their main responsibility was to kill monsters.

They kill ordinary monsters and elite monsters; dealing with these special monsters is not within their duties.

What Yang Fei needs is a completely new solution, a stable solution that can turn the tide when the succubus sisters are unable to control the situation. This kind of tool that blurs the division of his defensive forces is indeed not very suitable for him right now.

"The second solution, let's continue explaining the problem above. This movement also takes time to complete. Otherwise, if it involved supernatural powers, they should have been able to appear directly on the sky island instead of being hit by the arrow towers controlled by the two Venerable Ones. The two Venerable Ones possess—"

Sephira suddenly stopped speaking here. Yang Fei, who was listening with great interest, looked puzzled and was about to ask a question when Sephira continued to explain before he could: "Although the two venerable ones do not have extraordinary power, their instincts as mid-level demons still give them the ability to sense the emotions of intelligent life."

"All intelligent life, including those mimics, can think, and once they start thinking, they are like an objective campfire to a mid-level demon that can sense emotions, and we can discover them in a similar way."
