All-out Tower Defense: My Card-Drawing Talent is a Bit Strange

If it were a normal 51 slimes, Yang Fei believed he could hold off this wave. Although the tower defense world's test was difficult, this was just an appetizer. Under normal circumstances, the pass rate would definitely be over 99%. It all depended on what randomness would produce. He hoped it wouldn't cause any trouble!

Yang Fei took a deep breath and stepped onto the five-meter-wide war corridor. The soft soil under his feet gradually relaxed his slightly tense heart. Anyway, he had come this far, and there was no other choice.

Arriving at his white arrow tower, Yang Fei took another thirty steps toward the blue gate. This position wasn't too far forward, so in case anything happened, there would be some room for maneuver. It was a safe spot summarized by his predecessors.

Soon, the countdown on the blue gate reached zero. With his eyes fixed on the blue gate and not moving an inch, Yang Fei watched as the blue gate slowly opened. One after another, green slimes the size of basketballs hopped out and slowly walked along the war corridor toward Yang Fei's sky island.

"Name: Slime, Level: Beast 0, HP 80, Attack 4, Defense None, a magical life form from another dimension, with no special abilities. Although it is an extremely fragile monster, you still cannot defeat it with your physique."

Seeing the slime in the distance that was exactly the same as the one in the image, Yang Fei breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, nothing fundamentally changed, otherwise he, this inexplicable beta tester, would probably have become the first one to be eliminated in this round.

Controlling the two arrow towers to attack freely, Yang Fei also grabbed a spatula and prepared for battle. The crossbow bolts in the two arrow towers were quickly pulled back, and wooden crossbow bolts were loaded out of thin air, aiming at the slimes in front of the blue gate.

The moment the wooden arrow was fully formed, the bowstring, pulled to its limit, was released instantly. The wooden arrow drew an arc in the air and perfectly hit the slime it had been aimed at. The slime was propelled backward by the huge force of the wooden arrow and flew away at high speed before crashing heavily to the ground.

With a whoosh, the slime vanished along with the wooden arrow onto the dirt path, leaving behind only a copper coin, the basic currency that all monsters have a chance to drop.

The other wooden arrow also hit a slime squarely, but left behind a palm-sized piece of transparent soft rubber. This is the main material dropped by slimes—bio-rubber, which can be considered a general-purpose material.

Copper coins, silver coins, and gold coins are the most basic currencies and the most basic drops from monsters. They have many uses, and in the absence of trade, monster drops are the primary source of income.

Bio-rubber is the main material dropped by slimes and can be used as real rubber. It is useful in crafting items or upgrading buildings. Of course, if you are not afraid of losing money, you can also have it purchased directly by the Heavenly Path Shop.

Each attack from the two arrow towers takes several seconds to recharge. The slimes hop and skip forward at a relatively slow pace, but generally, after leaving the range of the two arrow towers, only about four slimes can rush onto the sky island at most. At this point, you need to rely on the Lord's positioning.

Yang Fei cautiously stepped forward. After confirming that the slimes had no intention of attacking him, he took the initiative to confront one of the slimes. He slammed the slime's soft body with a spatula, but the slime ignored him completely and continued to hop and skip towards the sky island.

Seeing this, Yang Fei was completely relieved. He raised the spatula high and, taking advantage of the slime jumping up, struck it out like hitting a billiard ball. Although the powerful force could not cause damage, it sent the slime, which had no leverage in the air, flying ten meters in the direction it came from, bringing it back to the safe distance of the arrow tower's range and preventing it from landing on the sky island.

With a successful first attack, Yang Fei smiled. Without hesitation, he targeted another slime and used the same technique, sending it flying once more. The war corridor was five meters wide, and Yang Fei's attack frequency was not high, so many more slimes jumped past him.

Yang Fei ignored them completely. The arrow tower's target was these guys jumping around him. Yang Fei knew very well that he couldn't stop them all, let alone effectively kill these slimes.

His goal was clear from the beginning: to stop what he could and slow down the advance of a small number of slimes. The arrow towers would take care of the rest. This was something that all examinees on Azure Star had to understand: never strive for perfection in anything, and that making appropriate sacrifices might lead to a better future.

With the cooperation of the two towers and one person, the frequency of slimes appearing in the blue door decreased, and only 3 monsters remained on the door. The slime closest to the sky island in the war corridor was still about 20 meters away from the sky island.

Seeing this, Yang Fei stopped what he was doing, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. Although he exercised regularly, his thin body was not enough for him to swing the spatula with all his might every time. But it seemed that this round should be over.

"Ding~, Respected Apprentice Lord, you have displayed bravery in protecting the Sky Island and defending against the Slime Clan's attack. The Slime Clan has developed a slight animosity towards you, triggering a special event—The Gaze of the Slime King. The next three slimes will be upgraded to elite quality."

The sudden sound startled Yang Fei. When he came to his senses, Yang Fei looked at the blue door with a gloomy face, and saw three green slimes the size of washbasins appear on the war corridor.

"Corrosive Slime, Beast Level 0, Elite Unit, HP 90, Attack 10, Defense 0. Its body contains a weak corrosive ability, which will cause acidic effects on the Sky Island land. It needs a certain amount of time to decompose naturally or be eliminated by special items or special skills."

With his eyes fixed on the three obviously larger slimes, the above information appeared on Yang Fei's system panel.

"Elite units? Playing this big? Fortunately, these guys didn't increase their stats too much, they just got a corrosion effect, so they should be able to withstand it." Yang Fei's thoughts raced, and he no longer cared about resting, throwing himself back into his "table tennis" game.

According to publicly available information, monsters are generally divided into ordinary units, elite units, lord units, and king units. As their names suggest, ordinary units are just regular monsters, which are also the most basic monsters.

Elite units are the elite among these monsters; they generally possess special abilities or skills specific to their race, such as the corruption in this case. However, in other aspects, especially among races like slimes that are not known for their physical strength, the slightly stronger elite units are not significantly superior to ordinary units.

The lord unit is similar to the commander of a race, and can command ordinary and elite monsters to attack in an orderly manner. In the category of beasts, which have not yet escaped the "mortal" realm, they are special life forms with some intelligence and are proficient in various abilities or skills of their race.
