Post-match kiss

Chapter 4: The Ragged Convoy!

Zhou Zheng smiled broadly, revealing his gleaming white teeth.

"I've driven unlicensed taxis to every place in Nanyuan, but I've never been to a rally race."

Tu Ying gave him a strange look but didn't say anything.

Isn't this just playing with people?

Su Jin was furious. She retorted without hesitation, "Is this your preparation? A race car driver who's never even been on a track, a bar owner, and a fat navigator?"

"Hey, Fatty, what's wrong? I don't like listening to what you're saying, beautiful! Brother Zhou trusts me!" Little Fatty suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Su Jin chuckled, pressing her fingers against her throbbing temples. "Fine, fine, you guys are amazing. I didn't ask for a salary just to come and play with you?"

"What's wrong with playing around? You think we won't win? Want to make a bet?" Zhou Zheng walked up to her with a nonchalant air, looking down at her.

Zhou Zheng had a gap in one of his eyebrows, making it look like a broken eyebrow, and he looked particularly fierce.

Su Jin straightened her back, looked him straight in the eye, and said, "A bet? Okay, let's bet! I came to Nanyuan to gamble on a chance to move up in the ranks. What are you betting on?"

"I always thought the engineers were dispensable, and I completely ruled out your involvement in the loss. As long as your modified crappy car can cross the finish line, even if I don't drive it to first place, I'll give you double the bonus as compensation," Zhou Zheng said.

Tu Ying looked at him like he was an idiot, then slammed her hand on the table. "Are you alright? Zhou Zheng! Why don't you give me double the money? I'm the boss!"

Zhou Zheng glanced at him and said disdainfully, "It was you who organized this gathering."

Tu Ying was shut down by his words, so she spread her hands to indicate that she had no objections and let him continue.

"Okay, what if you win?" Su Jin asked back.

She thought Zhou Zheng was going to say something outrageous, like asking her to pay double the amount, in which case she would have turned around and left.

"I won... I haven't decided yet. Anyway, I don't want your money, we'll talk about it later," Zhou Zheng said lazily.

Su Jin thought to herself that she only had this one match to share with them, and if Zhou Zheng lost, she would not stay in Nanyuan anymore.

If she wins, with Tu Ying around, Zhou Zheng won't be able to make things difficult for her no matter how much he goes too far.

"Okay," Su Jin replied, extending her hand to him.

Zhou Zheng looked at the slender white hand in front of him and wondered if this woman was really an engineer. Could she be washing her hands with milk every day?

It wasn't until Su Jin waved her hand that Zhou Zheng reached out, intending only to get by. Unexpectedly, Su Jin actually took his hand and shook it quite seriously.

"I will use all my knowledge to modify a race car for you. I hope you won't disappoint me too much."

"Oh, your attitude is pretty good." Zhou Zheng chuckled. "Aren't you afraid I'll win? If I win, you'll lose."

Su Jin stated frankly, "No engineer wants their modified car to lose to someone else. I hope you're not just playing around."

Tu Ying scratched his head, suddenly ignited with excitement. "It's just a regular rally race, why do I feel like I'm participating in the CRC?!"

"Boss, what is CRC?" the chubby boy asked him quietly.

Tu Ying explained in a low voice, "We can forget about national-level competitions. No amount of money could get us into the CRC."

"Hehe, what if?" the chubby boy said innocently.

Su Jin glanced at the two people talking. Tu Ying was already thin, and standing next to the chubby boy, the contrast between the two was quite comical.

The chubby boy is quite tall with a round face. His features are quite cute, but his body is so fat that he looks bulky.

Su Jin hesitated for a moment, then couldn't help but ask, "Do you know that racing cars need to be lightweight?"

"I don't know, what does it mean?" Little Fatty scratched his head.

Zhou Zheng patted his stomach teasingly, making two thuds like hitting a watermelon.

"You know I told you to lose weight? If the race car gets too heavy to drive, I'll throw you off!"

Little Fatty exclaimed, his eyes widening as if he truly believed Zhou Zheng's words, and timidly said, "Brother Zhou! Don't throw me away!"

"Don't just stand there and move! After you finish reading the route, get off the bus yourself. Don't block my path to winning the championship." Zhou Zheng hooked his arm around his neck and shook him hard, but couldn't budge the little fat man.

Little Fatty looked at him, puzzled. Zhou Zheng patted his waist seriously. "Fatty, have you gained weight again?"

"No...no, I don't think so." The chubby boy tugged at his clothes shyly.

"Little Fatty, you need to control your weight. There's still a month and a half until the competition. You should lose at least ten pounds for your brother Zhou!" Tu Ying counted on his fingers.

Little Fatty let out a miserable cry, "You only invited me to the competition, you didn't mention anything about losing weight! I'm not going, I'm not going!"

"If you don't go, who will? Boss, should I go?!" Tu Ying grabbed the little fat man's ear without any politeness and pulled him aside, just like she had tricked Zhou Zheng, she tricked him again.

"The prize money is 100,000 yuan! 100,000! Zhou Zheng doesn't trust many people, and reporting route information is very important for race car drivers; you're indispensable!"

Xiao Pang hesitated for a few seconds, only hearing the words "Brother Zhou trusts him." The bonus wasn't that important to him, but Brother Zhou's safety and trust were of utmost importance.

"I see."

"Promise me you won't say 'I'm not going' again!" Tu Ying opened her arms, clamped his head between her fingers, and forced him to look into her eyes.

Little Fatty's mouth was pinched so hard he pouted, "Chicken...egg."

"That's good to know." Tu Ying smiled and rubbed his face before letting go of him with satisfaction.

Even if the two of them speak very softly, the people around them can still hear them.

Su Jin sighed, saying that finding this convoy was a matter of "luck," and this might be her retribution.

They come, the security.

It's too late for her to regret it now; she should just observe Zhou Zheng's abilities first.

"Zhou Zheng, take me to see the race cars. Then take me for a spin so I can check out their performance."

Zhou Zheng raised his eyes, first glancing at Tu Ying, "Where's the race car, boss?"

Tu Ying was thick-skinned; even though he knew why Zhou Zheng looked at him that way, he remained calm and composed. Otherwise, how could he dare to bring a makeshift team to register for a rally race?

Although their place is small, there is a competition with a prize of 100,000 yuan. The investors brought two teams, and six teams came from other cities. They are the only local individual teams from Nanyuan.

When some people learned that Tu Ying, an outsider, was going to sign up, they came over for drinks and took the opportunity to belittle him.

Want to win the championship? This is just a pipe dream!

Tu Ying has saved up a lot of money over the years running the tavern, but it's hard to say how much of his stingy nature he'll be willing to give to Zhou Zheng for racing cars.

Zhou Zheng himself had never even seen a race car in the competition.

"I was just about to tell you, the race car is in the tavern's garage. It arrived a few days ago, but I didn't tell you, I was just waiting for the engineer to arrive." Tu Ying rubbed his hands together.

As soon as this signature move was made, Zhou Zheng laughed. What a guilty boss.

Did they get him a beat-up car?

"I was worried you might not have managed to get a race car, but it seems I was overthinking it." Su Jin breathed a small sigh of relief.

"Don't worry too soon," Zhou Zheng mocked her.

Su Jin glared at him, but it had no effect on Zhou Zheng.

"Acting coquettishly?" Zhou Zheng raised an eyebrow.

Su Jin rolled her eyes slightly, put her sunglasses back on, and said, "What an idiot."

A fleeting expression made Zhou Zheng fall silent for a second. He touched his chin, wondering why he had a familiar feeling.

"Alright, let's all go check out the car." Tu Ying shook the keys in her hand and led the way.

The performance of the race car is very important. Su Jin was mentally prepared that it probably wouldn't be a very good car, but it should at least be a mass-produced car.
