Night Rose

Su Jin turned around, gave him a deep look, and spoke with a weary tone.

"Have you made enough of a scene? If you don't want to get to the bottom of this today, you can fly back to New York right now."

Lu Mingzhou sat back down dejectedly and didn't say anything more.

His phone screen kept lighting up. He glanced at it, then guiltily pressed the "Do Not Disturb" button.

Zhou Zheng glanced at it and said, "Wow, someone's still looking for you at this hour. You must be very busy."

Lu Mingzhou quickly waved his hand and explained to Su Jin.

"Susu, this is all work-related information. You know I'm always very busy with work."

"You're so busy, aren't you?" Zhou Zheng chuckled.

Suddenly, a hand gently patted his thigh, and Su Jin said reproachfully, "Shut up too."

Zhou Zheng felt refreshed and comfortable. Okay, that's good.

He stopped making a fuss.

Lu Mingzhou, sitting in the back seat, naturally saw the interaction between the two. His eyes darkened, and he lowered his head to reply to the message.

Junior sister: Senior brother, have you found Sister Su?

Lu: Don't worry, Su Jin picked me up. She still cares about me.

Junior Sister: That's good! I was worried that Sister Su would resent you. Don't argue with her, talk to her nicely, and make sure you get those things!

Lu: Yes, I will protect you and won't let anyone hurt you.

Junior sister: Senior brother, you're so kind~ It's such a pity that Sister Su broke up with you, she didn't deserve someone as good as you.

Zhou Zheng looked through the rearview mirror and his intuition told him that Lu Mingzhou was definitely up to something.

If only there were a security camera in the car, it would be great to replay that sweet smile of his earlier performance for Su Jin to see, so she could see the true face of this man.

The Volkswagen stopped downstairs at the hotel, the largest hotel in the city where Zhou Zheng had taken Su Jin last time. This time, he was back to take her ex-boyfriend. Things had gone too far, but Zhou Zheng accepted it well.

"Get off the bus," Zhou Zheng reminded him.

Lu Mingzhou didn't get out of the car immediately. He just glanced at the hotel outside and asked in surprise, "Su Su, are you staying at a hotel here? Why are you making things difficult for yourself? Can you even sleep in a hotel bed?"

"She doesn't sleep here, brother." Zhou Zheng said speechlessly.

"Then please take me to Su Su's place. I'll stay with her tonight," Lu Mingzhou said righteously.

Zhou Zheng was stunned. How could this guy be so shameless? He's still living with his ex-girlfriend, is he even okay?

"She's your ex-girlfriend, not your current girlfriend, right? Is it appropriate for you two to live together?" Zhou Zheng asked.

Lu Mingzhou gave him a cold look. "And who are you to tell me whether we're suitable or not? It's not appropriate for you to ask that."

"I..." Zhou Zheng was speechless for a moment.

The two men looked at Su Jin simultaneously. Su Jin glanced at each of them, her head throbbing with pain.

"Let's open it," Su Jin said.

Lu Mingzhou smiled like an empress, slightly raising his chin, "Master, please drive."

Mr. Zhou silently drove the person to the bottom of Su Jin's apartment building.

Su Jin got out of the car, and Lu Mingzhou immediately followed. The two met at the front of the car. Lu Mingzhou reached out to take Su Jin's hand, but Su Jin dodged him.

"Keep a safe distance, or I'll have Mr. Zhou take you back to your hotel."

Lu Mingzhou's hand froze on the spot. He turned around and stared at Zhou Zheng inside the car, his eyes filled with disdain.

Him? Just a country bumpkin from a small town, only interesting to Su Jin for a short time.

The two went upstairs one after the other. Zhou Zheng stayed where he was until he saw the lights come on in Su Jin's room.

He forcibly suppressed the surging anger in his heart, took a few deep breaths to calm himself, and then drove away.

Su Jin stood by the window, watching Zhou Zheng's car drive away. She didn't know why, but she felt a tightness in her chest.

Someone approached from behind, and Su Jin tried to dodge, but it was too late.

Lu Mingzhou wrapped his arms around her, rested his head on her shoulder, and gently nuzzled her neck with the tip of his nose.

"Susu, I really miss you."

Su Jin felt goosebumps all over her body. She swung her elbow at Lu Mingzhou's abdomen.

"Ugh!" Lu Mingzhou let out a muffled groan, clutching his stomach and taking a step back.

Su Jin slowly turned around and looked directly at the face she hadn't seen in a long time. Now, facing Lu Mingzhou, her heart was calm and undisturbed.

"I asked you to come up here not to rekindle our old flame. You've been saying you wanted to talk to me, haven't you? Fine, let's talk then."

"Just stop threatening me with my mom. You know I hate it when people treat me like that."

Lu Mingzhou sat down on the sofa with a wry smile, staring at Su Jin. "You've changed a lot."

Su Jin took two bottles of beer and sat down at the other end of the sofa. "I've changed a lot since the incident. You only noticed today? Oh right, after all, you've always been a coward. When we were in New York, you never thought of helping me."

"Su Su, don't say that! It's my duty, I can't let personal relationships interfere just because you're my girlfriend," Lu Mingzhou said urgently.

Su Jin took a sip of her bitter beer, chuckled softly, and said, "So you still don't believe me. Then what exactly do you want to say?"

"I don't want to break up with you, Su Su." Lu Mingzhou looked at her earnestly and wanted to sit down next to her, but Su Jin stopped him with a gesture.

Su Jin's eyes reddened slightly. "That's not what I want to hear! You don't understand me at all, Lu Mingzhou. It's been five years, and I seem to be really unimportant to you. You never even think about what I really want."

Su Jin's heart was screaming and being torn apart.

She wants her lover's trust; she wants someone to stand by her side unconditionally.

But Lu Mingzhou just wouldn't break up. If he had trusted me back then, would they still be breaking up?

Lu Mingzhou looked dejected, like a child who had done something wrong. "I'm sorry, Su Su, I neglected you. Please give me a chance to make amends, okay?"

"No. Lu Mingzhou, breaking up is not a game. I never threaten you with breaking up or joke with you. This time, I'm seriously proposing to break up, and I hope you will respect our years of relationship and let go," Su Jin said softly.

Lu Mingzhou stared at her blankly, as if he were seeing Su Jin for the first time. He couldn't believe that Su Jin really wanted to break up with him. Su Jin valued relationships the most; five years of relationship meant more to her than a new person, yet she insisted on breaking up.

"Why? Just because of that person today? Why do you have to break up with me!"
