Night Rose

Chapter 37 This matter is not simple

Zhou Zheng glanced at her. "I'll take you to a good place to eat."

In a small place like Nanyuan, Zhou Zheng, who drives passengers around, is practically a walking map. With a few turns, the car arrives at a place that Su Jin doesn't recognize at all.

The alley looked impassable, but Zhou Zheng always managed to find a tricky angle to squeeze in and then drive out smoothly.

Su Jin looked around at the gap between the car and the wall and found that Zhou Zheng was a steady driver with excellent judgment. He almost grazed the wall, but the car was not damaged at all.

The restaurant recommended by the chef was always reliable. Su Jin sat in the passenger seat, focused on sending messages to her best friend, reporting on yesterday's events.

Ling: Sister, how's it going? What was that jerk's purpose in coming to see you yesterday? Is he really trying to rekindle your old flame?

Su Jin smiled self-deprecatingly. He really did come to ask her to get back together, but his purpose was not pure at all.

Sue: He begged me to get back together, but I didn't agree. He insisted on staying at my house overnight, and guess what?

Ling: ? ? ! Did I ambush you in the middle of the night?

Su: Wrong! If that were true, I would have called the police. He borrowed my computer to check the logs from the day before the accident, but he didn't realize I had set a password.

Ling: What a jerk! He still sneaks peeks at your data even after we broke up? Luckily you were on guard and didn't let him succeed!

But why is he looking at the previous day's log?

Sue: I don't know. I did the final maintenance on the race car the day before, and haven't touched any parts since. Keeping a log is a daily habit of mine, but he entered that day's details precisely.

I checked it myself and didn't find anything unusual.

Ling: Think about it again carefully, make sure you haven't overlooked anything. I have a feeling this matter isn't simple.

Su Jin replied with an OK emoji, and the car stopped on the side of the road.

Su Jin looked out the window and saw a simple little restaurant next door with a red signboard that had turned yellowish from the cooking fumes.

"Here?" Su Jin couldn't help but ask, her inner germaphobe about to scream.

Zhou Zheng readily agreed, "Yes."

As they were talking, Zhou Zheng moved to her side and opened the car door for her.

Su Jin had no choice but to get out of the car and follow him into the shop.

The store was crowded. Zhou Zheng led her to a corner to sit down. The two of them were a bit cramped, so Su Jin wiped the table and chair with a tissue before sitting down.

Looking at her restless expression, Zhou Zheng thought of her ex-boyfriend saying that he couldn't afford to support Su Jin.

Are Su Jin difficult to raise?

"Why are you looking at me? How do I order?" Su Jin pressed her phone against her lap and leaned closer to look at the menu in the distance, but she still couldn't see it very clearly.

Zhou Zheng shouted loudly, "Boss!"

The busy boss came over wiping his hands, greeted Zhou Zheng, and noted down the dishes he ordered.

In this small place, it seems like everyone knows each other, only differing in the depth of their acquaintance.

The wait for the food was rather long, so Zhou Zheng propped his head up and talked to Su Jin about the recent training programs.

When the dishes arrived, Zhou Zheng took a set of sealed tableware, carefully cleaned the soup pot for her, and wiped the water off the outside of the bowls with paper towels.

The disposable chopsticks had rough edges, so he broke them apart and rubbed them vigorously a few times before putting them in her hand that evening.

Su Jin's obsessive-compulsive disorder seemed to have subsided considerably. The dishes in front of her looked very appetizing, and she could stop worrying about whether the grease and smoke would get on her hair.

The food was surprisingly to her liking. On the other hand, Zhou Zheng put down his chopsticks after eating very little. But seeing Su Jin eating like a hamster made him very hungry, so he picked up his chopsticks again and ate a few more bites.

After the two finished eating, Zhou Zheng paid the bill and left.

It was the same familiar training ground, where Wang Tianle was already waiting for them.

Once everyone had arrived, the brutal and lengthy specialized training began.

Zhou Zheng's physical strength is much better than Wang Tianle's, but his training is also more difficult. He also took the initiative to add some projects, and trained until his muscles were sore and his eyes were dazzled every day.

When Zhou Zheng stepped off the rotating machine and lay straight on the ground, Su Jin in his eyes turned into dozens of spinning little people.

"Want to rest?" Su Jin squatted down next to his head, recording his latest data, which showed great improvement compared to before.

"Keep going!" Zhou Zheng gritted his teeth and got up.

For half a month straight, Su Jin led them in high-intensity training, and Tu Ying couldn't even see her. Occasionally, when she came to visit their training, Su Jin almost grabbed her and scolded her too.

Even Tu Ying, the boss, doesn't dare to visit the set anymore; he's handed everything over to Engineer Su!

After half a month of grueling training, Zhou Zheng and Wang Tianle lay down on the ground as the sun set, panting heavily.

Su Jin unscrewed two bottles of electrolyte water and placed them next to them. She tapped the board in her hand with a pencil and said, "Drink in small sips, drink slowly, don't choke."

Zhou Zheng's breathing gradually calmed down. He reached out to shield his eyes from the red sunset and sat up to take a small sip of water.

Wang Tianle also struggled to sit up. His round double chin had disappeared, his jawline was much clearer, the fat on his face had gone down, and his eyes were brighter.

Su Jin looked him over for a while, then lifted Wang Tianle's shirt.

"Whoa! Sister Su, what are you doing?" Wang Tianle cried out in alarm, clutching his clothes.

Su Jin poked his belly with satisfaction, "Look, you've lost all the fat."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Zheng and Wang Tianle looked down at his belly, which had shrunk considerably from its previous size.

Zhou Zheng exclaimed "Oh!" and carefully observed Wang Tianle, only then realizing that he had indeed lost a lot of weight.

"Looks like you really did lose ten pounds, Fatty. Great job! You deserve praise."

"I didn't even notice, I just felt like I was sweating every day and eating more, but I didn't gain weight." Wang Tianle chuckled for a while, then lifted Zhou Zheng's clothes to take a look.

Zhou Zheng didn't mind. He lifted his shirt to reveal his lean abdomen, with beads of sweat rolling on his perfectly shaped abs, making him look sexy and charming.

"Brother Zhou has such a great physique! How long do I have to train to be like you?" Wang Tianle said enviously.

"Just train for a few more years, and don't gain all that fat back!" Zhou Zheng laughed.

Su Jin's gaze swept over his abdomen, and she suddenly felt a little hot after seeing his abs.

She stood up and fanned herself. "Alright, that's enough for today's basic physical training."

"Thank you, Sister Su." Wang Tianle jumped up, not noticing that his legs were sore, and almost knelt down to offer an early New Year's greeting.

In the past, after they finished training, they would go back to the tavern, where Zhou Zheng would cook them something delicious. But today, Zhou Zheng had something to do and checked the time several times.

They had originally planned to leave early, but it turned out that Su Jin didn't intend to give them extra practice today.

"I can't cook today, I have things to do. Shall you take a taxi back?" Zhou Zheng swung his car keys.

"No problem, I'm too lazy to eat dinner, I'll just go back and rest." Su Jin rubbed her shoulders.

"That won't do. Let Little Fatty take you to the place where we ate last time. Eat a little something; you don't need to lose weight." Zhou Zheng glanced at her and nodded in agreement.

"Okay, Brother Zhou, I guarantee I'll complete the mission." Wang Tianle immediately agreed.

While Su Jin was packing her things, Wang Tianle quietly approached the car and asked, "Brother Zhou, is Grandpa being discharged from the hospital?"
