Night Rose

Chapter 83 Don't Underestimate Your Girlfriend

"Shall we talk about serious business?" Ling Keke scanned the two of them with a scrutinizing gaze.

"Yes, Boss Tu was in a hurry, so he specifically asked him to come and find me. He had some dust on his shoulder just now, so I wiped it off for him!" Su Jin said.

Zhou Zheng raised an eyebrow, listened to her clumsy explanation, and remained silent.

Su Jin glanced at Zhou Zheng secretly and touched her nose awkwardly, unaware that her unconscious, guilty gesture had already been noticed by Ling Keke.

As her best friend, how could Ling Keke not know her little habits?

"Goodbye." Zhou Zheng took off his mask and hung it on the doorknob.

He turned to leave, but someone grabbed his shoulder. He turned back and saw Ling Keke smiling at him.

"Hey you two, do you think I'm stupid? You were just hugging each other, do you think I couldn't tell? And wiping off the dust, if you used your face to do it, that's way too affectionate," Ling Keke clicked her tongue.

Su Jin's face flushed red instantly. She had come up with such a ridiculous excuse to keep it from her best friend, making them both laugh at her.

"And also, Su Jin, your collar isn't buttoned up properly." Ling Keke pointed at the neckline of her pajamas with a suggestive look in her eyes.

Su Jin looked down and saw that her collarbone was covered in red kiss marks, making it easy to imagine what had happened last night.

She clutched her collar, glared at Zhou Zheng reproachfully, and said, "It's all your fault!"

Zhou Zheng pretended not to meet her gaze and glanced at the ceiling of the corridor.

"Coco, let me explain!" Su Jin grabbed Ling Coco's hand. She didn't want Ling Coco to think that she was a fickle person who would betray her principles for a pretty face. "Zhou Zheng's coming to New York was indeed an accident. He didn't tell me beforehand. He'll be staying at a hotel for the next few days and won't bother us."

"That's right, I came by myself," Zhou Zheng agreed, pointing to the elevator. "Should I go first? Or should I treat your best friend to dinner? We've already met."

"Wait a moment, could you please move a little further away? We need to have a private talk," Ling Keke said.

Zhou Zheng understood what she meant and stepped into the elevator. Before the elevator doors closed, Su Jin looked at his lonely figure and couldn't help but say, "Wait for me downstairs. I'll take you to the hotel."

As the elevator descended to the first floor, Su Jin spoke with a hint of guilt, "Coco, you're not angry, are you? I really didn't know he was here."

Ling Keke pulled Su Jin into the house, put down her backpack, and snorted, "Do you think I'm the kind of person who would get angry over something like this? You underestimate me."

Su Jin was touched, knowing that Ling Keke wouldn't easily hold a grudge against her, but she still had to show her attitude.

"Coco, I won't neglect my friends just because I'm in a relationship. I'll have him stay in a hotel for the next few days, so it won't affect us."

Ling Keke laughed and buried her head in Su Jin's shoulder. "Baby, you're so sweet! But I remember you said last night that you hadn't won him over yet, right? You've made such rapid progress in just one day. He even came to New York for you. You can tell he's sincere. At least he's better than the guy with the surname Lu."

Su Jin replied earnestly, "I want to give it a try with him. Even if we don't end up getting married, being boyfriend and girlfriend would be a great experience."

"The experience was great, wasn't it? I bet this mark won't go away for a few days." Ling Keke blinked and smiled playfully.

"Sister Ling, can't you think of something else? I'm serious." Su Jin's ears were burning red.

"I think it's great. He's handsome and tall, and now that I've met him in person, I think he's pretty good too. The most important thing is that you like him. As long as you like him, that's all that matters." Ling Keke held her hand, conveying the warmth of her palm.

Su Jin nodded, moved. "I'll take him to the hotel first, you..."

"I'm going to take a shower and go to bed. I'll take you out for dinner tonight. You belong to me for the next couple of days, so don't get kidnapped."

"Okay, I'll wait for you to wake up."

"You don't have to wait all the time. You can go out with him for a walk. I'm not that petty. Just make sure you come back to have dinner with me in the evening," Ling Keke said.

She was so tired after working overtime that she could barely keep her eyes open. She took a quick shower and went back to the second bedroom to sleep.

Su Jin changed her clothes and went downstairs. More than half an hour had passed. She quickened her pace and walked out of the apartment, looking around, but she did not see Zhou Zheng.

She panicked a little and picked up her phone to call Zhou Zheng.

The phone rang not far away. Zhou Zheng stood up by the river and waved to her.

Su Jin smiled and ran towards him. Zhou Zheng slung his bag over his shoulder and opened his arms to her.

She threw herself into Zhou Zheng's arms as she wished. The impact caused Zhou Zheng to take a step back, but he immediately regained his balance and put his arm around her waist.

"Have you been waiting long?" Su Jin buried her face in his chest and unconsciously rubbed against him.

Zhou Zheng found it rare to see Su Jin acting so coquettishly, and his heart melted completely. He felt no fatigue no matter how long he waited.

"You finished talking so quickly? She wasn't angry with you, was she?"

Su Jin looked up at him, her eyes shining slightly.

"Coco is very nice. She said we should go out for a walk during the day because she worked all night and is too tired and needs to rest. What do you want to do? I'll take you."

Zhou Zheng reached out and stroked her cheek, then couldn't resist kissing her forehead. "You can go wherever you want."

"Aren't you sleepy?" Su Jin asked.

"Should we check it out?" Zhou Zheng raised an eyebrow, his expression clearly indicating that something bad was going on.

Su Jin poked his chest as a warning. She took him to check into a nearby hotel first. Zhou Zheng, being a chauvinist, naturally wouldn't let a woman pay, but Su Jin still took the initiative.

"Don't underestimate your girlfriend. I've been working in New York for so long, my salary is enough to support you, and even enough to support a race car," Su Jin chuckled.

She mentioned her job, which was actually a way to give Zhou Zheng a way to ask questions. If Zhou Zheng asked, she would take the opportunity to reveal her true identity and let him know that she was Sherry.

But Zhou Zheng didn't ask; it was as if he hadn't heard those keywords at all. Even ordinary friends would politely ask where you work.

Zhou Zheng calmly put away the room key, placed his backpack in the room, and took Su Jin's hand. "Let's go, go wherever you want."

This was the first time they had held hands. Zhou Zheng's hands were large and could easily wrap around Su Jin's hands.

Feeling a little dizzy, Su Jin followed behind him back to the apartment building before she remembered that they were going out to play.

"I'll go get the car."

The car Su Jin bought was a retro convertible. When it stopped next to Zhou Zheng, he walked around the car once, sat in the passenger seat, and was still a little skeptical.

"Is this your car?"

"Isn't it good-looking?"

"It's not that it's bad-looking, it's just that you're an engineer, so you should buy a car with a cool, racing-style feel. This kind of classic car is too over the top." Zhou Zheng raised an eyebrow.

Su Jin casually replied, "Oh, I have one of those too. I originally wanted to modify a race car and keep it, but I felt it was too conspicuous, and I could only use one percent of its performance normally, which would be a complete waste."

Zhou Zheng was wondering how much her car cost, but when he heard that she had another one, although it was expected, he was still shocked by her wealth.

No wonder she came to Nanyuan to work as an engineer without taking a penny of salary; she truly has her own aspirations.
