Night Rose

Chapter 89 Wishful Thinking

Zhou Zheng sighed, knowing he couldn't hide this from his grandfather, and decided not to lie anymore.

"His son crashed his bicycle into a wall and became infertile, so he sent someone to find me, wanting to take me back."

"He's delusional! He ignored you before, and now he wants to call you his son? He's dreaming. If he's so capable, he should have another one himself!" Grandpa spat, his face full of anger, the old man's beard practically flying up with rage.

"He's definitely overthinking it. I'm not going back." Zhou Zheng laughed. "You think too highly of him. If he were still able to have children at his age, he wouldn't have thought of asking me."

Looking at his grandson whom he had raised, the grandfather still didn't reveal what his mother had left him. The time wasn't right yet, but he also didn't want Zhou Zheng to worry about the future. Now that he had a girlfriend, he definitely had to think about the future.

"Xiao Zheng, you have a new life now, so you should look forward and not let those people hold you back. Your grandfather won't say anything about your relationship, but you can't neglect your studies. You must finish your studies to be worthy of such an excellent girl as Xiao Su!"

As for things in the future, don't worry about them. Your grandmother and I have already prepared the money for your future wife. Don't fret about those unnecessary things.

Zhou Zheng never expected to get anything from his grandfather, but he understood that his grandfather was afraid that his adoptive father would use these things to tempt him.

He didn't respond, but instead told his grandfather, "Tu Ying plans to continue racing, and Su Jin is also an engineer in this field. I plan to go with them to compete before the end of my break. The prize money is very high, so you don't need to worry about that."

"Xiao Zheng, you always say I don't need to worry, but you didn't even tell me when your aunt bullied you." Grandpa was a little angry. "Are you still my grandson? Do you still consider me your grandfather?"

"My aunt didn't bully me. I've been eating and drinking your food all these years. You paid for my tuition and living expenses. It's my duty to pay for your surgery. My aunt has had a tough time too. I think her family is a bunch of weirdos, and she's had a hard time too," Zhou Zheng said calmly.

Grandpa sighed, unable to bring himself to blame him for keeping it from him. If he hadn't noticed something was wrong, the child would still have insisted that his aunt had paid for the surgery.

"Your aunt won't bother you anymore, and you don't need to pay any attention to her. You probably didn't want to say how much money you spent, so I've added it all to your savings for your future wife." Grandpa patted his shoulder and pushed him out before he could react.

"Go play with Xiao Su, Grandpa will cook for you."

"Grandpa, do you really need to cook? I'm all alone here. Su Jin loves my cooking, so I'll do it. She's been in New York for so many days, she must not have been eating well," Zhou Zheng muttered.

Grandpa had never seen him so talkative before; people in love are different.

He waved his hand, letting Zhou Zheng go do whatever he wanted, and continued studying the instruction manual with Xiao Su.

When Su Jin saw the grandfather and grandson come out after their chat, she warmly greeted her grandfather, "Grandpa, come here quickly, I'll tell you what to eat every day and how many times to eat it."

"Coming!" Grandpa replied happily.

Zhou Zheng was cooking in the kitchen, while his grandfather, wearing his reading glasses, watched Su Jin explain the instruction manual to him.

Grandpa was highly educated, so he understood these things after hearing them only once. Su Jin was afraid he wouldn't remember them, so she took out a pen and wrote them down on the box for him.

"Xiao Su, why did you buy me so many health supplements? Are you afraid I'll get Alzheimer's?" Grandpa asked with a smile.

Su Jin blushed slightly. "No, it was my first time visiting, so I didn't know what to buy. I just scanned all the items on display in the supermarket and picked out a few best-selling products."

"Don't spend so much next time, just come to my house and sit with me." Grandpa saw that he liked her more and more, and suddenly remembered to ask her, "Xiao Su, where do you live? After you two settle down, let Xiao Zheng come to your house too."

"My home isn't far either, but..." Su Jin looked troubled. She hadn't told her family yet, and they didn't know that she and Lu Mingzhou had broken up long ago. Bringing Zhou Zheng back now would be too abrupt.

"What are you chatting about? Dinner's ready. Su Jin, come get me the bowls and chopsticks." Zhou Zheng's voice came from the kitchen, rescuing Su Jin who didn't know how to explain.

Su Jin lowered her head to pick up the bowls and chopsticks, when she heard Zhou Zheng say while rinsing the pot, "Don't worry about what your father said. It's too early for me to go to your house now. I'm just a champion from a small place. I should at least win the national championship before going. I haven't graduated yet, and your parents can't trust me to stay."

"Then wait until you win the national championship, and then come home with me?" Su Jin asked softly.

"It depends on whether you want to take me home or not. I've already introduced you to my family. If my sister won't give me a proper status, then I'll just have to cry alone at night," Zhou Zheng said with a smile.

Su Jin pinched his nose and was amused by him.

"We'll see how you do. Zhou Zheng, I can't afford to waste time on relationships. If I like someone, I'll like them forever. If it's right... then we'll get married."

Su Jin paused, then laughed, "Never mind, isn't it too early to tell you all this? You're still young."

"I'm almost 20, why do you still treat me like a child? Am I a child, sister?" Zhou Zheng stroked the soft flesh on the inside of her wrist, his eyes were extremely aggressive, but his words were quite gentle.

"I'll try my best to be a good partner, and I won't keep you waiting too long." Zhou Zheng lifted her hand and gently kissed her wrist. "Trust me, baby?"

Su Jin wished she could cover her ears; it was too unfair for Zhou Zheng to speak in such a low voice.

"Keep your voice down! Grandpa's still here."

"So you heard me. Alright, take the dishes out. I won't let you do any chores next time. I was just about to whisper something to you," Zhou Zheng said with a smile.

Su Jin left with her ears red. She pondered Zhou Zheng's words and felt relieved again.

Zhou Zheng put her mind at ease. She should go home and tell her mother about her breakup with Lu Mingzhou, and also lay the groundwork for her to publicly date her younger brother in the future.

There is another urgent matter to discuss the competition with Tu Ying.

Tu Ying was in high spirits and kept making harassing phone calls, but Su Jin didn't answer any of them. It was already a miracle that she didn't block him.

This person has barely stepped into the industry and is already trying to force his way in. Sooner or later, something bad will happen. She has to calm Tu Ying down.

"A lot of people have been looking for Boss Tu lately, and the offers they've made must be very good. But he doesn't know that once the team is controlled by someone else, the future racer might not be you, the navigator might not be Little Fatty, and we might even be kicked out of the team." Su Jin fastened her seatbelt.

Zhou Zheng didn't understand team management, but Su Jin was definitely right. She had worked in a large company for several years and had more experience with team management than they did.

"Boss Tu has been going crazy these days. He wants to go to New York to find you in person, but he's too stingy to pay for the plane ticket." Zhou Zheng shrugged.

Su Jin clicked her tongue. "It's a good thing he didn't come looking for me, or I would have been driven crazy by his mouth."

The car pulled up to the pub, which was unusually closed at this hour; it was pitch black inside.

Zhou Zheng got out of the car and knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.

"What's wrong with this guy? We told him to wait for us at the tavern, and he's gone missing?"
