The two people came out of the alley, while the old woman was still standing there, anxiously wiping away tears.

He Zhaoyang walked over and handed her the bag. "Auntie, here's your bag."

The old woman took the bag, opened it, and found that all the money and belongings were still there. She was even ready to kneel down before He Zhaoyang on the spot.

He Zhaoyang quickly helped her up, "Auntie, don't be like this, take it, go buy the medicine quickly."

The old woman gripped her hand, tears streaming down her face. "Young lady, what's your name? You saved my old man's life!"

"No need to remember my name, ma'am, you can go back to your work now."

Li Nan blurted out, "Her name is He Zhaoyang! From the family compound on the west side!"

He Zhaoyang glared at Li Nan, who chuckled.

After the two squeezed through the crowd, He Zhaoyang pulled Li Nan along quickly, asking, "Sister-in-law, why were you shouting so loudly?"

"What's there to be afraid of! Doing good deeds anonymously is something only old folks do!" Li Nan said confidently.

"Look at Captain Zhou from earlier, he said he'd report you and give you a commendation! Maybe your name will be on the bulletin board in a couple of days!"

He Zhaoyang sighed, "Stop pasting it."

"So what if I put it on?" Li Nan was overjoyed. "Let your man see how amazing his wife is!"

He Zhaoyang didn't reply, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

Li Nan pulled her along as they continued shopping, saying, "That kick you gave today was really sharp! I watched you kick someone to the ground from behind, and several people around were stunned."

He Zhaoyang covered his face shyly and said, "Don't say that, sister-in-law."

"Say it! You must say it! I'll tell Sister Zhao when I get back!"

"Sister-in-law Li!"

Just then, someone called out to Li Nan.

Li Nan and He Zhaoyang turned around and saw that the person had two braids, jet-black hair, fair skin, and an air of arrogance in their eyes. They were wearing a white collared jacket and navy blue straight-leg trousers.

Li Nan chuckled, "Oh, it's Feifei! What a coincidence, you're shopping here too."

Sheffield nodded. "I bought some face cream."

After speaking, her eyes sparkled as she looked at He Zhaoyang, "And who is this?"

She had already noticed He Zhaoyang when she was catching the thief. She didn't expect that the seemingly gentle girl would be so ruthless when it came to catching the thief.

"This is Yuze's wife, He Zhaoyang," Li Nan quickly introduced. "She just moved here a few days ago."

Xie Fei was stunned when she heard the name "Yu Ze".

Didn't Liu Jing say that Sheng Yuze's wife was an ugly and fat village girl?

She looked He Zhaoyang up and down. Her face was small and delicate, and her eyes had a cool and aloof quality. She was clearly a beauty, wasn't she? She could have joined the literature and art department!

Now she only feels that Sheng Yuze is not good enough for He Zhaoyang.

She no longer liked or wanted Sheng Yuze; she only wanted He Zhaoyang!

She took a step forward, her eyes sparkling as she looked at He Zhaoyang. "I saw everything when you were chasing the thief."

He Zhaoyang felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze.

"You're amazing!" Sheffield chuckled, her gaze sweeping over her with undisguised admiration. "Have you trained before?"

"No, I'm just used to running around doing chores in the village."

Sheffield took a handkerchief out of her pocket and handed it to me, saying, "Wipe your hands, they're dirty."

He Zhaoyang took it, wiped the back of his hand, and handed it back, saying, "Thank you."

Xie Fei took the handkerchief, folded it, and put it back in her pocket. "My name is Xie Fei, and I live in a bungalow on the north side. Your name is He Zhaoyang, right?"

"Um."

"I'll remember that." Sheffield smiled. "I'll come hang out with you sometime."

She turned and left after speaking. Her steps were light, and after a few steps, she turned back to look at He Zhaoyang.

After she had walked away, Li Nan came to her senses and lowered her voice to ask, "Do you know who she is?"

He Zhaoyang shook his head.

Li Nan: "His brother is Xie Changhe, the deputy company commander, who is known for his strictness on the training field."

Sheffield is the head of the arts and culture department. She's very picky and usually doesn't pay much attention to anyone, but today she actually took the initiative to talk to you so much.

He Zhaoyang watched Xie Fei's figure disappear into the crowd, then looked away. "She probably just thought it was funny to see me chasing a thief."

"Fun?" Li Nan snorted.

"Do you know how she usually treats people in the courtyard? She just nods when she sees someone and that's it. She never says another word to anyone."

She offered you a handkerchief today and even came to play with you. Do you believe she'll go back and talk to her brother about you for ages?

He Zhaoyang smiled but didn't say anything.

Li Nan pulled her along, saying, "Today's been really strange. You caught a thief the moment you stepped out, and now Xie Fei has appeared. You're going to be famous, Zhaoyang!"

He Zhaoyang was amused by her. "Sister-in-law, look at what you're saying."

Li Nan shook his head smugly, "Just you wait, once word gets out, you'll definitely be famous!"

The two strolled around until the sun was setting before heading back. When they entered the compound, everyone was downstairs eating.

As He Zhaoyang and Li Nan approached the building entrance, they saw a person standing there.

Director Su. He stood under the streetlight with his hands behind his back, as if he were waiting for someone.

Seeing He Zhaoyang and Li Nan approaching, he nodded, "Sister-in-law Li, Yuze's wife, you're back?"

Li Nan nodded. "Director Su."

He Zhaoyang realized that this was Director Su. "Director Su."

Director Su glanced at the people around him. "I have some questions for you."

"Please speak."

"Did you know that Yuze changed the contact person?" Director Su looked at her, his voice neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for everyone to hear.

People around them pretended to eat, but their attention was actually all on this side.

"Director Su!" Li Nan spoke up for He Zhaoyang first, but Director Su raised his hand to interrupt, "I'm asking about Zhaoyang."

He Zhaoyang scoffed inwardly, "So, he's finally getting revenge for his daughter."

"I know. He told me that very day."

Director Su nodded: "Did you offer him any suggestions? Or rather, did you express to him that you didn't want Su Qinghe to continue working with him?"

His question wasn't harsh, but his meaning was very clear.

He Zhaoyang looked at him, staring directly into his eyes. "I didn't offer any suggestions. Changing the person was his decision; I didn't interfere."

Director Su seemed to be judging whether she was lying.

The courtyard was quiet for a while.

Director Su withdrew his gaze. "Alright. That's his personal decision. I understand the situation."

"Qinghe sometimes overthinks things. If she does anything that makes you misunderstand, please be understanding."

He Zhaoyang: "She didn't make me misunderstand."

Director Su paused for a moment, then walked away.

Li Nan said angrily, "What does he mean? Is he here to stand up for his daughter? How old is he? Doesn't he have any shame?"

He Zhaoyang tugged at Li Nan's sleeve, "Sister-in-law, stop talking, let's go back."

Li Nan glared at the direction Director Su had gone before following He Zhaoyang into the building.

Li Nan was still muttering to herself, "He's a section chief, yet he came downstairs to confront you, and in front of so many people. What does that mean? Isn't he just trying to make everyone think you're petty and made your man change partners?"
