Su Qinghe's lips twitched slightly, but she didn't reply. She picked up the basin, turned around, and left.

Xie Fei turned back and leaned against the pool next to He Zhaoyang, her voice immediately relaxing, "She's finally gone."

He Zhaoyang was washing his face when he glanced at her and said, "You weren't this enthusiastic when you were talking to her just now."

"What's so great about being enthusiastic about her?"

Xie Fei pursed her lips. "Eight out of ten sentences I say to her go in circles. It's exhausting."

After washing and drying his face, He Zhaoyang draped a towel over the edge of the basin. "She's gone. Aren't you afraid she'll go back and cause trouble with her dad again?"

"Let her make a fuss." Xie Fei crossed her arms and spoke casually. "When her dad asked me, I told him that the arts department didn't need dancers, but it did need someone to sweep the floor, and she wouldn't do it herself."

"Besides, would he dare to ask me? My brother is Xie Changhe. If he dares to question me, my brother can go to his house and overturn his table."

He Zhaoyang glanced at her and couldn't help but smile.

When Xie Fei saw her smile, she smiled too. "Alright, are you done washing up? Come with me when you're done."

"Where to?"

"The Arts and Literature Department," Xie Fei said, turning towards the door. "They have a performance in a few days and they're short-staffed. Let's team up!"

He Zhaoyang picked up the basin and followed, saying, "I told you I wouldn't."

That's why I'm teaching you.

In the afternoon, He Zhaoyang had just finished dancing practice at the Arts Department. His back ached as he walked to the entrance of the family compound and saw a crowd gathered in front of the bulletin board.

Li Nan stood at the very edge of the crowd, tiptoeing to peek inside. Turning around and seeing He Zhaoyang, she quickly waved to her, "Zhaoyang! Come quick!"

He Zhaoyang was confused. "What's wrong, sister-in-law?"

He Zhaoyang walked over, and Li Nan pulled her into the crowd, saying, "They've posted commendation letters! They must be praising you for catching a thief!"

He Zhaoyang squeezed to the front of the bulletin board, his eyes falling on the red paper, and he froze.

The notice read: "A commendation for Comrade Su Qinghe."

The text describes how, on April 3, 1977, Su Qinghe chased down a thief in town, saving the people from their losses. Her actions were commendable.

The document was signed by the militia company and the town's public security office.

People nearby were gossiping, "Su Qinghe? Director Su's daughter caught a thief! Like father, like son!"

"Was it her who caught the thief?"

"I hadn't heard of it at the time."

"It's about what happened in town before, I think it was about chasing after the bag."

He Zhaoyang stood in front of the notice board, read the few lines of text, and said nothing.

Li Nan, furious, muttered in a low voice, "When did she chase the thief? You were the one who chased him that day! She wasn't even there when you chased him!"

He Zhaoyang tugged at Li Nan's sleeve, "Sister-in-law, stop talking."

"Why don't you say that? It's obviously not her!"

"Let's talk about it when we get home."

He Zhaoyang pulled Li Nan and walked out. When the two reached the entrance of the building...

A person walked over from the bulletin board, taking a leisurely pace with a smile on their face.

Su Qinghe.

She was carrying a basin, looking like she had just taken a shower, and paused in front of the bulletin board.

He looked at the letter of commendation, then turned to look at He Zhaoyang and Li Nan, smiled, and said, "Sister-in-law Li, Sister-in-law Zhaoyang, you've come to see the announcement too?"

Li Nan's face fell. "Su Qinghe, is that your name written on it?"

"Hmm?" Su Qinghe glanced at the notice board again, then turned back with a smile. "What's wrong?"

Li Nan retorted angrily, "When did you catch a thief? I didn't see you that night!"

Su Qinghe smiled calmly, "It must be a mistake on the part of the militia. Maybe someone gave the wrong name."

She spoke casually, as if she were talking about something that had nothing to do with her.

Li Nan opened her mouth slightly, and He Zhaoyang pulled her aside, nodding to Su Qinghe: "Then you did very well."

Su Qinghe smiled and carried the basin home.

Once she was out of sight, Li Nan released He Zhaoyang's hand. "You're just going to let it go like that? She stole your commendation letter! That bag was clearly the one you chased after and got back!"

He Zhaoyang walked into the building. "If someone wants her to be this good person, then let her be."

"What do you mean?"

"Captain Zhou is in the militia company. He saw with his own eyes who was chasing the person."

He Zhaoyang pushed open the building door and glanced back at Li Nan.

"The name is written on it, and it's signed by the militia company and the public security office. It must have been approved because someone submitted it. Su Qinghe couldn't have written this herself."

Li Nan was taken aback. "You mean someone else reported her?"

He Zhaoyang nodded, greeted Li Nan, and went inside.

When Sheng Yuze returned home that evening, he saw He Zhaoyang sitting at the table as soon as he entered the door.

"What's wrong?" He hung up his hat, walked over, and sat down opposite her.

"A letter of commendation has been posted on the bulletin board." He Zhaoyang put down his cup. "It's about Su Qinghe catching a thief."

Sheng Yuze paused for a moment. He looked at her for a while and asked, "Didn't you catch her? How did it become her?"

He Zhaoyang shook his head. "Someone must want her to be the good person."

Sheng Yuze frowned. "Where did the militia company get the approval?"

He Zhaoyang: "The signature is his."

Sheng Yuze stood up and prepared to walk outside.

He Zhaoyang: "What are you going to do?"

Without turning his head, Sheng Yuze said, "Go find Director Su. It's possible that he replaced the person."

He Zhaoyang pulled him back, "No need, let's just change it. In a few days, we'll make her suffer a big loss. We have to make her understand that she can't just take credit for other people's work."

Sheng Yuze stared blankly at He Zhaoyang's mischievous grin; how could her mischievous smile be so adorable?

Then, she couldn't help but pinch He Zhaoyang's cheek.

After realizing what he had done, Sheng Yuze's face turned bright red, and he stammered, "I, I'll go get you some water to wash your feet."

"Pfft."

Upon hearing He Zhaoyang laugh, Sheng Yuze fled in panic.

A few days later, He Zhaoyang was rehearsing in the arts department, and Xie Fei stood in front of her, helping her adjust the angles of her movements.

The curtain was lifted, and a woman poked her head in, calling out, "Zhaoyang! Someone's looking for you!"

He Zhaoyang stopped and walked towards the door. "Who is it?"

"I don't know her. She's an old lady who said she came from town and specifically asked for you."

He Zhaoyang walked to the entrance of the family compound and saw the old woman standing in front of the bulletin board, holding a basket of eggs in her hand, surrounded by a group of onlookers.

The old woman saw her and quickly came to greet her, grabbing her hand tightly. "Girl! I've finally found you!"

He Zhaoyang recognized her.

That's the old lady whose bag was stolen that day.

She took the old woman's arm and said, "Auntie, what brings you here? You've come all this way."

The old woman shoved the basket of eggs into her hands. "I asked around for three days before I finally found out you lived here! Take this, it's eggs from our own chickens, you must accept it!"

A woman standing nearby asked, "Auntie, what do you want with her?"

"What are you doing?" the old woman asked in a loud voice.

"This young girl saved my old man's life! That day in town, a thief stole the money I was going to use to buy medicine for him, and this girl chased him down half a block to get it back for me!"

Someone in the crowd whispered, "Wasn't it Su Qinghe who helped? The letter of commendation even has Su Qinghe's name on it."
