He Zhaoyang did not respond.

Sheng Yuze looked at her for a while, then suddenly said, "But now everyone has seen it, his daughter didn't do that good deed."

She looked at him for a few seconds, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly. "That's a pretty sarcastic thing to say."

"I'm telling the truth." Sheng Yuze stood up and stretched. "Captain Zhou tore up the letter of commendation in front of everyone and then sent over a banner."

Now the whole hospital knows you're the one who caught the thief. Director Su's attempt to save face for his daughter has been completely thwarted.

He Zhaoyang opened the blanket, turned off the light, and lay down on the bed with Sheng Yuze.

"So do you think Director Su will come looking for trouble with me tomorrow? Last time, because you suggested changing the contact person, he openly came to me."

Sheng Yuze turned to look at her, "It's okay, I'll take a day off tomorrow to be with you."

He Zhaoyang leaned closer to Sheng Yuze. "You took the day off to be with me?"

"Hmm." Sheng Yuze seemed a little sleepy.

"That Director Su seems amiable on the surface, but he's not very shrewd. The last time he came to you in person was because of the change in the contact person. This time, the commendation letter was torn up in public, and he's lost face, so he might come to you again."

He Zhaoyang pursed his lips. "So what are you going to do when he comes looking for me?"

"I'm standing right next to you."

He Zhaoyang was taken aback. "Standing?"

"Yes. When he sees me, he'll think twice before he speaks."

He Zhaoyang was silent for a few seconds, then chuckled, "So, you're just standing here as a doorman?"

Sheng Yuze didn't reply. He turned over, facing the ceiling, as if he was thinking about something.

After a while, he spoke up, "If he makes things difficult for you, you don't need to pay attention to him. I'll answer for you."

He Zhaoyang rested his head on Sheng Yuze's arm, looking at his blurry silhouette in the darkness. "If you take the day off tomorrow, what will happen to training?"

"Just tell the company commander, it doesn't happen often."

When He Zhaoyang woke up the next morning, Sheng Yuze had already brought back breakfast.

He placed the lunchbox on the table, sat down, and flipped through an old book. Hearing her get up, he looked up and asked, "Awake? Drink the porridge while it's hot."

He Zhaoyang sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed his eyes. "You didn't go to training?"

"I said I wanted to take leave."

He Zhaoyang was stunned for a moment, then remembered what he had said last night.

She stood up to wash up, and when she came back, Sheng Yuze had already served the porridge and placed it on the table.

Halfway through the meal, footsteps could be heard in the hallway.

Sheng Yuze put down his chopsticks and glanced at the doorway.

There was a knock on the door.

He Zhaoyang glanced at Sheng Yuze, then stood up, walked to the door, and opened it.

Director Su was standing outside, wearing a gray coat and holding nothing in his hands.

When Director Su saw that it was Sheng Yuze guarding the door, he paused for a moment, and stammered, "Yu... Yuze, you didn't go to training today?"

Sheng Yuze nodded. "I've taken leave. Is there anything I can help you with, Director Su?"

Director Su gave him a troubled look, and then he glanced into the room, where He Zhaoyang was sitting at the table eating.

"It's not a big deal."

Director Su cleared his throat. "I just wanted to say a few words to Zhaoyang. Since you're here, you can listen in too."

Sheng Yuze stepped aside to let the door open.

Director Su walked in and sat down in the chair.

He Zhaoyang poured him a glass of water and placed it on the table, then sat back down in his own seat.

Director Su picked up his cup, took a sip, and then put it down, as if he was organizing his thoughts.

After several seconds, he finally spoke, "Qinghe cried for a long time after yesterday. She said she really didn't know about the letter of commendation, and she never asked Xiao Chen to change her name."

He Zhaoyang looked at him but didn't reply.

Director Su: "You know Xiao Chen, he's been working in the logistics department for several years, and he usually seems quite honest. I don't know why he changed this list."

Sheng Yuze chimed in from the side, "He said he changed it himself?"

"Yes, he said he changed it himself." Director Su nodded and glanced at He Zhaoyang again.

"Since he's admitted it himself, let's leave it at that. Zhaoyang, what do you say?"

He Zhaoyang sat in the chair, looking at Director Su.

He spoke in a consultative tone, but his meaning was very clear.

Xiao Chen took charge, and that was the end of it.

She spoke up, "Captain Zhou has already dealt with it. He said he would investigate it thoroughly and that he couldn't let good people down."

Director Su paused for a moment.

He Zhaoyang continued, "How to deal with Xiao Chen is a matter for the militia company. I won't pursue who it is."

Director Su looked at her for a few seconds, then nodded. "Okay. That's settled then."

He opened the door and left.

After the door closed, the room was quiet for a while.

He Zhaoyang sneered, "He certainly knows how to shirk responsibility."

He Zhaoyang put down the cup and was about to say something when a series of hurried footsteps suddenly came from the corridor.

There was a knock on the door, much louder than the knocking by Director Su earlier, a loud banging.

Sheng Yuze stood up to open the door. Li Nan was standing outside, looking unwell and breathing heavily, as if she had run there.

"Zhaoyang! Go and see him quickly!"

She grabbed He Zhaoyang's hand. "Su Qinghe is crying in front of the bulletin board, saying you're trying to drive her to her death!"

He Zhaoyang was stunned for a moment. "What?"

"Someone just posted something on the bulletin board with your name on it, saying that you forced Su Qinghe to admit that she stole the letter of commendation, or else you would make her lose face in the entire residential compound. Su Qinghe stood there crying, saying that she didn't steal it, and that you were forcing her."

Li Nan, panting, said, "There's a huge crowd gathered downstairs!"

He Zhaoyang put down his cup and stood up, while Sheng Yuze had already picked up his coat.

The three people went downstairs.

Sure enough, a crowd had gathered in front of the bulletin board.

Su Qinghe stood in the middle, head down, shoulders trembling, while her two sisters-in-law tried to comfort her.

He Zhaoyang pushed through the crowd and went inside, glancing at the notice board first.

There was a piece of paper pasted on it, handwritten, and the handwriting was completely different from those in letters of praise.

"He Zhaoyang, relying on the banner and certificate of merit, forced Su Qinghe to confess. If Su Qinghe didn't confess, she threatened to ostracize her from the entire hospital. It's too much of a bully."

After reading those lines, He Zhaoyang turned to look at Su Qinghe.

Su Qinghe was still crying, her shoulders shaking. Someone next to her handed her a handkerchief, which she took and covered her face with. Her voice came from behind the handkerchief.

"I didn't steal the commendation letter, and I don't know what happened. Could you please not let them isolate me?"

He Zhaoyang stood in front of the bulletin board, and everyone was looking at her.

She spoke, but her voice was soft.

"Did you write this on this piece of paper?"

Su Qinghe raised her head, her eyes red, and looked at her.

"I didn't write it! How can you say I wrote it? I've already said I didn't steal the commendation letter, why are you still pressuring me?"
