It took her a while to calm down before she walked out the door.

"He Zhaodi!"

Liu Aiyun shouted.

He Zhaoyang ignored her. She didn't know who He Zhaodi was; she was He Zhaoyang.

He Zhaoyang opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.

Sheng Yuze frowned when he saw her small bundle. "Is that all?"

"Um."

Seeing that she didn't want to say more, Sheng Yuze didn't ask any further questions and instead turned to introduce his family situation.

He Zhaoyang nodded, but was interrupted by Sheng Yuze before he could speak, "My family are all reasonable people, and we will never let you suffer any injustice."

"it is good."

When He Zhaoyang followed Sheng Yuze into the Sheng family courtyard, he realized what it meant to be a starved camel that is still bigger than a horse.

The walls are all made of blue bricks, and the courtyard is divided into a vegetable area and a chicken-raising area.

"Mother, I've brought your daughter-in-law back."

Sheng Yuze's shout brought everyone out of the room.

Qin Meng was stunned for a moment when she saw He Zhaoyang. With that build, wouldn't he crush her son to death?

Qin Meng seemed to realize that she had been looking for too long, so she quickly stepped forward and grabbed He Zhaoyang, "This must be Zhaoyang, right? He's chubby and looks like a lucky person."

He Zhaoyang glanced at Sheng Yuze in surprise, and the latter nodded slightly.

While she was packing her luggage, Sheng Yuze had already called home to tell her family about He Zhaoyang's name change.

He Zhaoyang grinned at Qin Meng and said, "Mother."

Qin Meng happily replied, "Yes."

Sheng Kaiyuan scratched his head and casually put his arm around Sheng Yuze's shoulder. "Yuze is so lucky to have found someone like this, like this."

He stammered for a long time, unsure of how to describe it.

Qin Meng looked at Sheng Kaiyuan with a headache; what a silly son.

Li Xuanxue was furious. She walked up to him and slapped his head. "If you can't speak properly, shut up. Nobody thinks you're mute."

She turned and took He Zhaoyang's hand. "Sister-in-law, don't mind him. That's just how your brother is. He doesn't know how to talk."

He Zhaoyang: "It's alright, sister-in-law."

Qin Meng: "Alright, Yuze, take Zhaoyang to see Grandma, I'll go cook."

"it is good."

Sheng Yuze pulled He Zhaoyang to the easternmost room. "Grandma."

As soon as He Zhaoyang entered the room, he was greeted by the strong smell of medicine.

An old man, emaciated and frail, lay on the kang (a heated brick bed).

He Zhaoyang approached, squatted down, and called out, "Grandma."

Li Yuzhen's eyes moved, and she slowly turned her head to look at He Zhaoyang. "Yes, it's Yuze, my wife?"

Her feelings towards Li Yuzhen are somewhat complicated.

Originally, the whole family arranged for He Zhaodi to marry Sheng Yuze to bring good luck. Unexpectedly, the whole family treated He Zhaodi well, but in her previous life, Li Yuzhen was ultimately killed by He Zhaodi.

Although there was something fishy about this, no one knew the truth.

He Zhaoyang took her hand. "Yes, Grandma, I am Yuze's wife."

Li Yuzhen smiled, "That's wonderful."

After speaking, she slowly sat up, seemingly feeling a bit better. "Yuze."

"grandmother."

"Go to the wardrobe and bring me the small box."

Sheng Yuze opened the wardrobe and took out a mahogany box with polished edges, which looked quite valuable.

Li Yuzhen took the box, opened it, and touched the jewelry inside with reminiscence. "This is all the dowry your great-grandfather prepared for me."

"Time flies! Yuze has a wife now. Yuze's wife, come and sit down."

He Zhaoyang was stunned for a moment, then sat down on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed).

Li Yuzhen pulled her hand and tried to put the best jade bracelet from the box onto her wrist, but it wouldn't go in.

He Zhaoyang scratched his head awkwardly, "Grandma, I can't put it on."

Sheng Yuze never expected things to turn out this way.

Li Yuzhen didn't think it was a big deal, and placed the bracelet in her hand, saying, "It's okay, just keep it if you can't wear it."

He Zhaoyang glanced at Sheng Yuze, unsure whether to take it or not.

Before Sheng Yuze could react, Li Yuzhen spoke up, "Don't worry about that brat. What Grandma gives you is what you get. Kaiyuan's wife also has one, so just take it without worry. Grandma likes you very much."

Li Yuzhen gently patted He Zhaoyang's hand.

Looking down at the smooth, warm jade bracelet, He Zhaoyang could tell it was quite valuable. He opened his mouth, wanting to say thank you, Grandma, but couldn't get the words out.

During the years she was a demon, her parents died early, and no one taught her anything. She had to figure things out on her own. She was very envious of her nemesis, the cat demon family.

Although she had family after transmigrating into the book, she discovered that the original owner was worse off than a person after receiving the original owner's memories.

This was the first time she had experienced family affection, and the first time an elder had said they liked her very much.

Li Yuzhen lay down. "Okay, I'm a little tired. You guys go eat."

"Okay, Grandma, you should rest now."

After Sheng Yuze finished speaking, he pulled He Zhaoyang away.

Upon entering the main room, the noodles were already laid out on the table—a large bowl full of noodles that had been rinsed in cold water, with a side of minced meat and cabbage gravy.

Sheng Kaiyuan grinned, "I'm benefiting from my sister-in-law's good fortune today."

Li Xuanxue placed the noodles she had chosen in front of him and said, "Shut up and eat your food."

She turned to look at He Zhaoyang gently, "Sister-in-law, come and eat."

He Zhaoyang sat down, looking at the sumptuous meal, and felt a moment of disorientation.

In the He family, they usually eat cornbread and pickled vegetables.

She wasn't even allowed to eat cornbread.

Qin Meng carefully added a fried egg to her plate.

"Zhaoyang, I know you've suffered some injustice regarding this marriage. Don't worry, now that you've married into our family, we will definitely not let you suffer any more injustice."

He Zhaoyang looked at the fried egg in his bowl, which was the only one left, and his heart softened. "Thank you, Mother."

Qin Meng laughed, "No need to thank me, eat quickly, and then go rest for a while."

He Zhaoyang lowered his head and ate the egg, the oily aroma bursting in his mouth.

After the meal, He Zhaoyang returned to Sheng Yuze's room, closed the door, and sat down alone by the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed).

She breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, Sheng Yuze had been called away on an urgent mission while she was eating, otherwise she really wouldn't know how she would face him.

She reached into her pocket, took out the bracelet, and examined it carefully against the sun; it revealed a faint bluish hue.

As she was examining it closely, a warm current emanated from the bracelet and flowed along her veins.

He Zhaoyang was stunned; she could sense that the spiritual energy was greater than in the morning.

The faint blue hue on the bracelet has diminished.

She understood that not only precious medicinal herbs, but anything containing spiritual energy could be absorbed by her for cultivation, and her space seemed to be under repair.

Most importantly, her eyesight has improved from being able to see roughly to being able to see clearly, although it's a bit blurry, somewhat like nearsightedness in the 21st century.

"Zhaoyang!"

He Zhaoyang got up and opened the door. "What's wrong, sister-in-law?"

Li Xuanxue pulled her out and pointed to He Xidi sitting in the courtyard, saying, "Your sister said she's here to deliver her dowry."

He Zhaoyang asked in surprise, "A dowry? That family is actually willing to give her a dowry."

He Zhaoyang looked at He Xidi suspiciously, only to see that the latter's eyes were full of excitement, looking here and there.

He Zhaoyang sneered inwardly.

Sending dowry is just a pretense; they must have ulterior motives for coming here.

He Zhaoyang walked to the stone table, sat down, and asked bluntly, "What are you doing here?"

He Xi smiled ingratiatingly, "I'm sending you a dowry, sister."

"Drink water."

Li Xuanxue placed a glass of water in front of her.

He Xidi immediately took a sip and sweet words came out of her mouth, "Thank you, sister-in-law, you are so beautiful."

Li Xuanxue was amused and said, "Alright, you two sisters chat, I won't join in."

He Zhaoyang frowned. "What exactly did you come here for?"

He Xi glanced at her disdainfully, "Why can't I come? This is my brother-in-law's house now."

He Zhaoyang was shocked by her words. In her more than 500 years of life, this was the first time she had ever met such an unreasonable person.

Before He Zhaoyang could speak, He Xidi continued, "Tell me, your sister-in-law only poured me a glass of water but not you. Does that mean she likes me more?"

He Zhaoyang smiled, went into the house, took out a water glass, and placed it on the stone table. "Oh dear, I'm sorry, my sister-in-law didn't pour me water because she made me a cup of malted milk powder before I went to bed."

After saying that, he took a sip. "It's delicious! Little sister, you haven't tried it before, have you?"
