Tang Dynasty Demon Suppression Division
Chapter 323 We Meet Again
A crack appeared in the center of the light curtain, and the crack continued to widen, like a giant eye opening in the sky.
A dazzling white light burst forth from the crack, illuminating the entire wasteland. Within the light, an ancient and vast aura surged forth, causing everyone's clothes and hair to flutter wildly.
The barrier was activated, and the light lasted for a full ten breaths before slowly dissipating, revealing its true form.
Before me lay a vast island, nestled in the icy ocean, yet lush with trees, filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, a veritable paradise.
The group looked at each other, utterly shocked.
Meanwhile, deep within an ancient palace in the sacred land of the demon race.
An elderly man with white hair sat in front of a huge mirror, in which the entire process of the barrier opening was reflected.
His aged fingers slowly caressed the armrest, his gaze deep and unreadable.
"Interesting," he murmured to himself, "He really was the one who made the prophecy."
Beside him stood a handsome man in a silver robe with his hands behind his back; this was none other than the Chen Su Demon Emperor.
Looking at the gradually fading white light in the mirror, he smiled faintly: "Elder, you specially strengthened the barrier this time. Even if the Demon Emperor himself takes action, it will take a lot of effort."
"I didn't expect that these young people would actually figure out the pattern. They are really remarkable."
The old man, referred to as the Grand Elder, gave a faint "hmm" and shifted his gaze to another corner of the Xuanjing mirror.
Two auras appeared there, stopping far away at the edge of the wasteland, one as deep as an abyss, the other as vast as the sea.
The elder's lips curled slightly: "Just as I expected, these two old fellows have come too."
The Demon Emperor Chen Su's expression shifted slightly: "Elder, do you mean we deliberately lured them here?"
"That's natural."
The Grand Elder smiled enigmatically, "What's meant to happen will happen. I hope this time, it won't disappoint me!"
Chen Su raised an eyebrow slightly: "It's time to greet our guests."
After saying that, he vanished from the spot in a flash.
Outside the barrier, Li Yuan and the others finally set foot on the land of the demon race's holy land, where a straight road led directly to the distant city.
The road beneath my feet is a smooth, warm bluestone surface. On both sides of the road grow flowers and trees whose names I do not know. Their branches are strong, their leaves are green, and their flowers are pale white, emitting a cool and subtle fragrance.
The buildings in the distance are built against the mountain, with an ancient style that combines the grandeur of a human royal palace with the elegance of a demon cave, blending the two seamlessly together.
The sky above was a soft, pale gold, and the falling light was warm but not glaring, making people inexplicably relax.
"This is the holy land..."
Looking at the scene before her, Langhuan's eyes widened in shock. Although she was a demon, she did not know the true appearance of the Holy Land.
At the end of the road, a tall, slender figure slowly approached: "Gentlemen, you have come from afar. You must be tired. I am here to greet you on the orders of the Grand Elder."
"Senior Chen Su, we meet again."
Li Yuan observed him discreetly. Since their parting at the Demon Court, this man had disappeared without a trace, apparently having already returned to the Demon Clan's sacred land.
At this moment, he felt that Chen Su's aura was as deep as an abyss, and even faintly resonated with the star field on his body.
A thought suddenly struck him: it seemed that Chen Su had also advanced, and was now at least at the early stage of the Demon Emperor realm or even higher.
Chen Su smiled.
"Please follow me to settle into your lodgings. The Grand Elder will host a banquet tomorrow to welcome you back."
It seems that this so-called Grand Elder is the true ruler of the Demon Clan's Holy Land.
Li Yuan nodded, exchanged a glance with Leng Ningshuang and Ji Fang, and followed Chen Su inside.
Langhuan and the other two demons walked behind. Mo Ming, his expression displeased, asked telepathically, "We are clearly the demons, so why is this Senior Chen Su more polite to humans?"
"Shut up."
Langhuan glanced at Chen Su uneasily, and the latter smiled slightly at her, which startled her for no apparent reason.
Mo Ming pouted in resentment, but didn't ask any more questions.
The city was bustling with activity, quite similar to human cities. Chen Su led them to a courtyard.
The courtyard was small but clean and elegant. The rooms were simply furnished with beds, tables and chairs. The six people were divided into two rows of side rooms, with Li Yuan and two others on the left and the three demons on the right.
"Please rest here for now. Food and lodging will be arranged by someone. Please feel free to make any requests."
Chen Su politely gave a few instructions and then took his leave, saying that a servant would come to pick them up for the banquet the following evening.
After Chen Su had gone far away, the six of them returned to their rooms. About an incense stick later, Li Yuan opened his Star Domain and quietly infiltrated the right wing room.
The three demons were gathered together discussing something. Langhuan had even set up a barrier, but Li Yuan, with his forgetful perception, could easily break through it.
"Lady Langhuan, do you think we'll really get what we want this time?"
"I don't know."
Langhuan's tone was low.
"I see that Senior Chen Su values that kid Li Yuan very much. What should we do?"
"Don't be impatient, let's play it by ear at the banquet tomorrow."
It was obvious that Langhuan was keeping the matter of the Demon Emperor from the two of them, and her tone was very perfunctory.
"Knock knock knock!"
Just then, Leng Ningshuang knocked on the door, and Li Yuan let the two of them in.
Their purpose in coming here was different from Li Yuan's. Leng Ningshuang came to suppress the demonic energy within her body, while Ji Fanghua never revealed her reason from beginning to end.
"Senior Brother Li, I wonder what the Grand Elder's attitude will be at the banquet tomorrow."
Li Yuan stood by the window, his gaze passing over the courtyard wall to the distant palace, raising an eyebrow and smiling lightly: "Since we're here, let's make the best of it. We'll see how things go tomorrow."
The banquet was held in an ancient hall in the center of the holy site, with two rows of plain white lanterns hanging on either side of the hall's entrance.
The hall was very spacious, enough to accommodate hundreds of people. Li Yuan and his two companions were arranged to be on the left, while the three demons were on the right. A group of demon elders accompanied them in the main seat.
The walls of the palace were covered with rows of light screens, within which runes flowed faintly. Chen Su saw Li Yuan staring intently at him and explained with a smile.
"The temple is where our clan holds sacrifices and must not be desecrated. Therefore, there are restrictions to separate it from the front hall. We hope you understand."
"It's alright. Such an important place deserves our attention."
Li Yuan smiled slightly. He had already figured out that this was an isolation formation. There were definitely people outside the light barrier, but since they were on someone else's territory, there was no need to expose them.
Thinking of the two groups following behind, Li Yuanruo glanced at them meaningfully and then stopped paying attention.
Upon closer inspection, two faint auras could be sensed behind the barrier, one deep and the other still—the very people who were tracking them.
He is certain that one of them is the Xuan Tian Demon Emperor, while the identity of the other remains unknown to this day.
The Grand Elder arrived late, just before the banquet began. He had snow-white hair, a thin face, and wore a plain linen robe, looking like an ordinary old man from the countryside.
Chen Su stood behind him with a gentle smile. The food and wine on the table were extremely plentiful, consisting of rare spiritual fruits whose names he did not know, and the aroma was overflowing. The cups and saucers were all made of the finest jade.
The elder raised his wine glass, beaming, "Gentlemen, you have come from afar. As the host, I would like to offer you a toast first."
Li Yuan raised his cup and drank it all. The wine was warm and lingering in his throat, and it was filled with spiritual energy. He was cautious and first used his Yuan energy to envelop and examine the wine. He found that there was no poison or illusion.
So he nodded slightly to Ji Fanghua and the other woman, indicating that they could eat it without worry.
No one had any appetite; they only took a small bite and put down their cups, waiting for the elder to continue.
But the elder had no intention of continuing. He simply stroked his beard slowly and raised his cup from time to time, as if he were truly a host inviting guests to dinner.
