Tang Dynasty Demon Suppression Division

Chapter 9 Elimination System

Li Yuan nodded, and the two followed the instructions to the logistics department to collect two sets of academy uniforms, some basic living supplies, a copy of "Shenwu Academy Rules", and a map of the academy.

Then, referring to the map, I found Tingzhuxuan, which is located in a quiet bamboo forest.

Tingzhuxuan is a row of independent, elegant houses with white walls and gray tiles. The name is already written in ink on the small wooden plaque hanging next to the door.

When Li Yuan found his room, his eyes flickered slightly.

Shen Lian.

"Huh? How could this be..."

Wu Yu also saw her dormitory room, where she shared a room with a student named Zhou Mo, and her face immediately fell.

Then, mustering his courage, he said, "Brother Li, how about... I go and talk to Shen Lian and see if we can switch?"

Before Li Yuan could answer, the door to the study creaked open, and Shen Lian walked out.

Seeing this, Wu Yu quickly stepped forward, a smile plastered on his face, and politely cupped his hands, saying, "Brother Shen, I apologize for disturbing you. My name is Wu Yu, and this is my friend Li Yuan. I wonder if it would be convenient for Brother Shen to switch dormitories with us?"

Shen Lian paused, his gaze sweeping coldly over Wu Yu before landing on Li Yuan, his expression undisguisedly sinister. He parted his thin lips slightly and uttered two cold words.

"No change."

Wu Yu's smile froze, and he tried to plead again: "Brother Shen, you see, we'll be classmates from now on, so why not do me a favor..."

"I said, I'm not changing it."

Shen Lian interrupted him rudely, his tone extremely impatient, "Get out of here."

Wu Yu's face turned red and white as he was provoked by his rude attitude. He was born into a wealthy family and was pampered at home. In recent days, he had been the focus of attention because of his talent. He had never been humiliated to his face like this before.

Even a clay figure retains some earthiness, let alone the temperament of a young person.

"Shen Lian, what kind of attitude is this? I just wanted to discuss it. If you don't want to exchange, then don't exchange. Why do you have to say hurtful things!" Wu Yu was also annoyed, and her voice rose a few decibels.

Shen Lian's eyes turned cold, and a murderous aura emanated from him. He stared at Wu Yu and slowly said, "What do you want?"

Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Li Yuan hurriedly stepped forward and shielded Wu Yu, whose face was flushed, behind him, and calmly looked at Shen Lian.

Shen Lian's gaze instantly locked onto Li Yuan, and their eyes collided in the air, as if invisible sparks were flying.

Seeing Shen Lian's provocative gaze, Wu Yu was both anxious and angry, and clenched her fists, ready to rush forward.

"Oh dear, why is there already a full-blown fight so soon after we arrived? Public fighting in the academy will result in deductions from your academic credits."

Yu Ling'er appeared out of nowhere, skipping and hopping between the three, cleverly separating them from each other.

She first winked at Wu Yu, who looked unhappy, and then playfully stuck out her tongue: "Li Yuan, Wu Yu, don't be angry, Shen, calm down too. As far as I know, the dormitories assigned by the school are not allowed to be changed privately in principle."

Upon hearing this, Wu Yu's arrogance immediately deflated, and he awkwardly touched his nose.

Shen Lian glanced at Yu Ling'er, snorted coldly, said nothing more, turned around and went straight back to his room, slamming the door shut.

"Tch, what's so great about her? Who does she think she is, putting on that sour face for...?"

Wu Yu muttered something to the closed door, then turned to Li Yuan, "Brother Li, forget about him, let's go eat first. I heard the food in the academy's dining hall is quite good, and they even have medicinal meals specially prepared for cultivation students."

Li Yuan nodded. He wasn't too concerned about Shen Lian's hostility; what was more important right now was to understand the academy's environment.

"Let's eat! I'll go too."

Yu Ling'er's eyes immediately lit up, and she turned to the dormitory next door and called out, "Zhou Mo, stop hiding in your room reading, let's go to the dining hall together."

The dormitory door opened silently, and a slender boy in a college uniform, exuding a strong scholarly air, slowly walked out, holding a book in his hand.

He nodded somewhat reservedly to Li Yuan and the other person: "Hello, I am Zhou Mo. My talent is Mutant Analysis, Level 7."

Yu Ling'er seemed quite familiar with the academy, chattering away as she introduced it to them.

"That tallest black tower over there is a model of the Demon-Suppressing Tower. It contains samples of low-level demons for teaching purposes. The real Demon-Suppressing Tower is far more magnificent than this..."

"That forest to the east is filled with various formations and mechanical puppets. It's a training ground for real combat exercises, but I've heard it's quite dangerous. Newcomers shouldn't go in rashly."

"By the way, do you know how amazing Instructor Liu is?"

Speaking of Liu Hongyan, Yu Ling'er looked excited, "I heard that she is a master in the late stage of the Condensation Realm. She used to be a demon-hunting guard in the Demon Suppression Division and made many contributions."

Li Yuan seemed to have thought of something: "What's the deal with the elimination system in the Tian Shu Class?"

Wu Yu asked curiously, "Are points really that hard to earn? We start with a hundred points."

"One hundred points? Is that a lot?" Yu Ling'er shook her head and counted on her fingers, "Reading the most basic cultivation technique in the Scripture Pavilion takes five points a day, a bottle of the most basic Qi Nourishing Pill takes ten points, and two hours of cultivation in the beginner Spirit Gathering Room takes twenty points."

"Not to mention those high-level resources, they're incredibly expensive, and as for the tasks that earn points..."

She sighed as she said this, "I heard that ordinary tasks only give two or three points, and assisting instructors with paperwork only gives five or six points a day. As for those high-reward tasks, they are not only dangerous, but also have high requirements. They usually require a team and the competition is fierce."

"Huh? Does that mean we can't use any of our points?" Wu Yu exclaimed in surprise.

"There's no need to worry about that. The year-end ranking is based on the total accumulated points, not the remaining points. In other words, even if you use up all your points to improve yourself, as long as you earn enough, your ranking will still be high."

Li Yuan listened silently, taking all the information to heart. Clearly, the academy's system encouraged competition.

"And one more thing!" Yu Ling'er remembered something and solemnly reminded her, "As I just said, if you are caught fighting in public within the academy, regardless of who is right or wrong, the person who strikes first will have 50 points deducted, and the person who retaliates will have 20 points deducted."

"Furthermore, the deducted points will not be added back to the total score."

Wu Yu felt a wave of fear wash over her and said gratefully, "Thank you for reminding me, Miss Ling'er. I almost acted impulsively."

He can't afford to lose fifty initial points.

Li Yuan's heart stirred. Yu Ling'er emphasized the words "inside the courtyard" and "open" twice. Does this mean that outside the courtyard, the rules might not prohibit it?

It seems he'll have to study the academy's rules and regulations carefully when he gets back.

As we spoke, we arrived at the dining hall, which was spacious and bright, divided into a regular dining area and a medicinal dining area.

The group used their name tags to collect their free meals, but Wu Yu, out of curiosity, ordered the cheapest medicinal meal to try.

During the meal, Yu Ling'er continued to share her experiences at the academy.

"The academy is a three-year program. The first year is for learning basic knowledge and skills. In the second year, students begin to learn more complex joint tactics and participate in some low-risk field missions."

"The third year..." she paused, "is an internship. Most of the time, we'll be assigned to various offices of the Demon Suppression Bureau or border military towns in small teams to participate in the mission of clearing out demons."

"Another war?" Wu Yu was taken aback.

"It's very dangerous. Every year, some students don't come back, especially our Tian Shu class. They are highly talented and famous, so they are more likely to be targeted."

"Who's targeting you?" Wu Yu asked curiously.
