America: The Gear-Up Detective
Chapter 41 Attack
Six o'clock in the afternoon.
Rod arrived at the police station.
It's the weekend, and it's time to leave work. The police station lobby is deserted, with hardly anyone in sight except for a few officers on duty.
Dalton's slightly overweight figure stood out conspicuously behind the cold white front desk. Upon seeing Rod enter, he greeted him warmly.
"Hey, Rod! Thank you!"
Rhodes was a little confused. "Thank me? About what?"
Dalton patted Rod on the shoulder, his tone friendly, "Have you forgotten? I heard Hank and Evan mention the case of Ms. Renee's husband. You were the one who found the killer."
Aunt Renee was my neighbor when I was a child, and Uncle Nathan was also very kind to me. I was heartbroken for a long time when I heard the devastating news.
Thank you for finding the truth!
Rod smiled. "It's what I should do."
After chatting for a while, Rhodes went up to the second floor, pushed open the office of the sixth team, and found that everyone except Anna had already left work.
"Hey Anna, aren't you off work yet?"
Anna looked up at Rhodes, who had suddenly appeared, and asked in surprise, "Rhodes, what brings you here?"
"Didn't Captain Connor say you were on administrative leave?"
Upon hearing Luo De's question, he smiled wryly and said, "The case file of the body-dumping case is a bit complicated. It's not just about Park Young-chan's murder, but also about Kim Jong-eun's death. I'm still organizing the case file."
Rod shrugged. This is the American workplace culture: newcomers always do the hardest and most tiring work.
This is especially evident in professions such as police, military, and fire departments.
Fortunately, the overtime pay at the detective department was high and easy to apply for, so Anna didn't have much dissatisfaction except for a few complaints.
Of course, if overtime pay is delayed or canceled for no apparent reason, the police union will take action.
In the United States, labor unions are mostly voluntary worker organizations that are independent of federal agencies and have considerable influence and power, even affecting local and federal elections and policy-making.
Rod looked at Anna, who was still engrossed in her work, and explained, "I just finished my workout at the gym and came to the police station to pick up some things and take a break."
The two were still chatting idly.
downstairs.
Outside the police station.
A burly Black man with particularly broad shoulders is wearing a blue oversized hoodie with a logo in the center of the hoodie that shows the letter "C" made with his thumb and forefinger. This is the signature gesture of the Crips, one of the largest and most powerful street gangs in Los Angeles.
His hands were in the front pockets of his hoodie, his eyes were bloodshot, his pupils were bloodshot, and he looked agitated and even somewhat dazed. He staggered into the police station, muttering, "Don't let him call the police, don't..."
Killian Woolf felt very unlucky. It was just an ordinary day when she went to a gym that was still developing its customer base to sell some fitness drugs such as steroids.
Unexpectedly, he had some kind of mental breakdown and exposed the details of the gang behind him, even revealing the source of the drugs he sold.
Killian knew that the Crippled Gang was ruthless not only to outsiders, but also to traitors among their own people.
Killian accidentally said something he shouldn't have. He originally planned to teach Rhodes a lesson after he left the gym, but after following him for a while, he found that Rhodes went straight to the police station.
Killian was terrified. He thought Rhodes was going to the police station to report the deal he had made to the officers.
Panicked, Killian looked for something to bolster his courage. After taking two deep drags, he even felt that he should kill that skinny monkey right now. He even thought that if he killed him in the police station, he might be promoted to a high-ranking position in the gang when he got back!
Clutching the contents of his hoodie pocket, Killian seemed to have made up his mind, and resolutely pushed open the glass door of the detective agency.
Dalton was tidying up his things at the front desk when he noticed the burly man who seemed dazed and acting suspiciously.
Unfortunately, years of logistical work had long since eroded the few remaining vigilance he had retained from frontline duty.
He merely maintained an instinctive wariness of people of dark race, his hand unconsciously resting on the gun handle at his right hip, without thinking that it would cause any major problems in the police station.
"He couldn't possibly shoot me in a police station, could he? Are you kidding me?"
Seeing Killian approaching, Dalton said, "Hey, sir, is there anything I can help you with?"
"Hey, Fatty, where's that skinny guy who just came in?"
Dalton frowned, unsure of what Killian was talking about. He pointed his left hand at the police station entrance and said sternly, "Sir, please don't come in unless it's absolutely necessary. This is a police station!"
upstairs.
Rod grabbed some of his belongings and prepared to go downstairs.
As soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, I heard what sounded like an argument coming from downstairs.
As he rounded the corner of the staircase, the scene in the lobby came into Rhodes' view. "That person... he looks vaguely familiar?"
Because Killian had changed his clothes and was facing away from the stairs, Rhodes didn't recognize him immediately.
Kylianson was excited and kept moving closer to Dalton, his upper body almost lying on the front desk.
According to recent police regulations, verbal threats or non-violent resistance cannot be used as a justification for the use of force.
In other words, even though Killian's spittle had landed on Dalton's face, he still couldn't draw his gun to retaliate.
"Hey, hey! Back off! Back off!"
Keep your hands where I can see them!
Seeing Killian's bloodshot eyes so closely, Dalton made a judgment: 'Damn poisoner!'
Dalton leaned back slightly, pointed at Killian, and began to warn, "This is the last warning. If you don't back down, I will take forceful measures against you!"
Killian took a slight step back, and Dalton immediately made a judgment. He removed his right hand from the butt of the gun, picked up the Taser, stepped out from the front desk, and walked towards Killian. "Get down on the ground! Put your hands where I can see you!"
Killian seemed to calm down a bit, and bent his knees to prepare to lie down on the ground.
Although Killian was excited, he did not have a clear target for attack, so Dalton simply took the Taser out of its holster, placed it with the muzzle down at his side, and approached while remaining on guard.
Rod, who was watching this scene from the stairwell, quickly stepped forward, wanting to help Dalton subdue the burly black man.
But just as Rhodes was about to get close, Dalton put down the Taser and prepared to pull out his handcuffs.
Killian, who was kneeling on the ground, suddenly pulled out his right hand, which was not yet fully out of his hoodie pocket, and pulled out a Glock pistol with an extended magazine.
He gripped the trigger tightly, staring at the bewildered Dalton.
