The young driver's beautiful boss
Chapter 300: Spit it out?
Congratulations on making the wisest choice!
Qi Tian said with a smile, "It won't be long before I show you how right your decision was."
"But what exactly is this 'pledge of allegiance' you're talking about?"
"Mr. Qi, let's keep this a secret for now. Come with me, and you'll find out soon enough."
Yang Fu remained mysterious and offered no explanation as he led Qi Tian to the City That Never Sleeps.
Standing at the entrance of the City That Never Sleeps, Qi Tian had a rough idea of what was going on.
The smile on his face grew even brighter.
Yang Fu led Qi Tian inside, but instead of asking for a private room, they strolled around the lobby.
"Give me two glasses of 'Ice and Fire'!" Yang Fu said to the bartender.
A moment later, the bartender handed the drink to Yang Fu.
He took a sip, and the next second he suddenly smashed the glass in his hand on the bartender's head.
boom.
With a muffled thud, the bartender instinctively covered his head.
His head was smashed open.
The bartender clutched his head and crouched down, blood gushing from between his fingers and streaming down his face. The hall fell silent for a moment, then the patrons in the surrounding booths stood up and backed away; some pulled out their phones, others shouted, "Call security!"
Qi Tian stood to the side, his smile freezing for a second before slowly returning to normal. He looked at Yang Fu, a hint of amusement in his voice: "Uncle Yang, is this the 'pledge of allegiance' you were talking about?"
Yang Fu threw the shattered glass base onto the bar counter, shards of glass scattering everywhere. He grabbed the half-opened bottle of whiskey from the bar and walked towards the bartender. The bartender, his face covered in blood, had just managed to stand up from the bar and hadn't even reacted when Yang Fu smashed another bottle against his shoulder. The bottle shattered, and amber-colored liquor mixed with blood trickled down.
"Get your manager out here." Yang Fu threw the remaining half of the bottle neck on the ground. His voice wasn't loud, but it could be heard clearly throughout the hall. "Whoever owns this place, tell him to come see me."
Qi Tian stood to the side, neither moving nor speaking. He roughly guessed what Yang Fu was up to—Never-Sleeping City was one of the top nightclubs in Anshun, and its owner was said to be a relative of a retired city leader. Yang Fu's disruption of the venue was tantamount to challenging that person. And that person happened to be a guest of Gu Qiushui.
Yang Fu is trying to drag Qi Tian into the opposition with Gu Qiushui.
After Qi Tian understood this, the smile on his face faded slightly, but he remained standing there watching. Yang Fu walked over, patted him on the shoulder, and lowered his voice: "Mr. Qi, I know what you're thinking. You think I'm causing trouble, right?"
"Uncle Yang is joking," Qi Tian replied casually.
"Let me tell you, the mastermind behind the Never-Sleeping City is very close to Gu Qiushui. Today, you and I wrecked this place, which is tantamount to announcing to everyone—Qi Tian, you're no longer on Gu Qiushui's side." Yang Fu wiped the grease from the corner of his mouth. "You hired Gu Qianhun to deal with Tang Bei before, and Gu Qiushui must have already heard about it. Do you think she'll still trust you like before? You might as well go all the way and let everyone know which side you're on."
Qi Tian remained silent for a moment. Yang Fu's words made sense, but the feeling of being led by the nose made him uncomfortable. Before he could speak, a series of hurried footsteps came from the entrance of the hall. Seven or eight burly men in black T-shirts rushed in from the doorway. The leader was a middle-aged man in his forties with a buzz cut, a thick gold chain around his neck, and a gloomy face.
"Yang Fu." The middle-aged man stopped in front of him, glanced at the bartender whose face was covered in blood on the ground, then at the shards of glass remaining in Yang Fu's hand, and said, "Are you fucking crazy? Causing trouble in my place?"
"Brother Zhao," Yang Fu tilted his head to look at him, "your place's been doing pretty well lately. The boss must be making a lot of money, right?"
The middle-aged man, called Brother Zhao, narrowed his eyes: "Yang Fu, speak your mind, don't be sarcastic. You're not leaving this room until you give me an explanation."
"An explanation?" Yang Fu chuckled. "Fine, I'll give you an explanation." He pulled a folded piece of paper from his pocket, unfolded it, and slapped it on the bar counter. "Take a look at this."
Brother Zhao glanced down at the paper, his expression suddenly changing. He picked it up and examined it carefully, then flipped it over to the other side, before looking up and staring at Yang Fu for several seconds.
"Where did you get this?"
"Never mind where I got this from. It's written in black and white that the ownership of this land is disputed. You know how the permit was issued in the first place." Yang Fu took the paper back, folded it, and put it in his pocket. "Brother Zhao, I'm not here to fight you today. I'm here to tell you that someone has their eye on this land. Your backers might not be able to protect you."
Zhao's face turned pale, then flushed. He waved his hand, signaling the burly men in black T-shirts behind him to step back, then leaned close to Yang Fu and whispered, "Yang Fu, what the hell do you want?"
"I don't want to do anything." Yang Fu tilted his head towards Qi Tian. "My boss, Qi Tian, Mr. Qi. From now on, you'll talk to him about this land."
Brother Zhao looked at Qi Tian. Qi Tian stood beside him, a gentle and composed smile on his face, and nodded to Brother Zhao as if discussing a perfectly normal business deal. Brother Zhao gritted his teeth, his chest heaving several times, and finally squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth: "Okay. Come to my office tomorrow afternoon."
Qi Tian glanced at him, his smile deepening, but the look in his eyes was somewhat complicated. Yang Fu's move today had indeed surprised him—this old man hadn't just come to seek refuge; he had brought leverage. The contents of that piece of paper were most likely the trump cards Yang Weiguo had accumulated during his time in power, which Yang Fu was now using as a stepping stone.
The two turned and walked towards the door. Just as they reached the steps, Qi Tian's phone rang. He glanced at the screen, answered, listened for a few seconds, and his smile instantly froze.
"What?" Qi Tian's voice changed. "When did this happen?"
A few words were spoken on the other end of the phone. Qi Tian's knuckles turned white as he gripped the phone. He remained silent for several seconds before hanging up.
Yang Fu, standing beside him, asked, "What's wrong?"
Qi Tian put his phone back in his pocket, his expression returning to calm, but something pressing beneath that calm made Yang Fu's heart tighten. Qi Tian turned his head to look at Yang Fu, a slight smile even playing on his lips, but his eyes were as cold as ice.
"Xu Jing," Qi Tian said, "she gave the account book to Tang Bei."
Yang Fu was taken aback.
"For three years, all the contracts, bank statements, and transfer records she handled are in Tang Bei's hands." Qi Tian's voice was soft.
The two stood under the neon lights at the entrance of the city that never sleeps, their faces illuminated by the flickering, multicolored glow. Qi Tian glanced up at the flashing sign above him and suddenly chuckled. The laughter wasn't loud, but it sent a chill down Yang Fu's spine.
"Tang Bei." Qi Tian repeated the name, as if savoring something. "Fine. If he wants to play, then we'll play along to the end."
He walked down the steps, and the driver brought the car over. Before opening the car door, Qi Tian glanced back at Yang Fu: "Uncle Yang, how much of that set do you have left?"
Yang Fu followed his steps: "That's enough."
"Okay." Qi Tian got into the car, and before the door closed, he said, "You arrange the dinner with Brother Zhao tomorrow afternoon. I want Tang Bei to know that even if he took my ledger, he'll have to give it back."
