Warhammer Fantasy: I Have Total War System
Chapter 12 Dragon Palace
Li Lin followed Yi Ge down the corridor.
On the way, he pushed open every door on both sides and peered inside.
The bedrooms were all the same style, with neat beds and dressing tables adorned with porcelain and bronze mirrors. Under the screens, there were usually a pair of embroidered soft shoes, with the toes pointing outwards, as if the owners had casually taken them off.
There were also scattered clothes, jewelry, and burnt-out incense sticks...
Could this be the residence of some apprentices of alchemists specializing in spiritual energy?
It's not surprising that they live inside the vehicle, as they need to constantly manage the ritual implements there.
Li Lin wanted to see what was going on in Yi Ge's room, which was flashing with an eerie green light, but the latter simply blocked the door and sealed it with fluid metal.
"Young Master, it's dangerous inside. If you want to see it, I'll take care of it tomorrow."
"Oh, it won't explode, will it?"
Yi Ge's lips twitched, his fist clenched loosely, and he said softly, "Please rest assured, the equipment you have is not sufficient for me to conduct experiments that risk failure."
At the far end of the corridor, there was another door, which was more spacious and grand than the others. The door was decorated with cloud patterns and dragon scales, and the bronze door knocker was polished to a shine.
Li Lin pushed it open and found it locked, so he called Yi Ge over.
"Didn't you set up the formation here?"
"No, just break it open."
Yi Ge broke through the barrier inside the door in six minutes, and Li Lin strode in to investigate.
The interior space was four or five times larger than the other rooms. A large desk stood by the window, on which lay an unfinished letter, the ink already dry.
Hanging on it was a set of armor, silver with red patterns, and two dragon-shaped jade ornaments inlaid on the shoulder armor. The workmanship was exquisite, and it was obviously not an ordinary item.
A long spear stood in the corner, its shaft black, its tip gleaming with a restrained cold light.
Li Lin tried to weigh the spear in his hand, but to his surprise, it was as heavy as a rock, and no matter how hard Li Lin tried, it wouldn't budge.
"These can't be my equipment," he realized clearly.
Upon closer inspection, Li Lin found two engraved characters on the gun handle: "Treading on Plum Blossoms".
"Wu Tamei... This is the weapon of which dragon descendant, so this is her room."
Thinking of this, a memory I don't want to recall comes to mind.
This must have been his bedroom a long time ago.
However, he had not been here for a long time, and did not even have the right to take a look. He could only sleep in the cramped copper walls outside.
The territory that once belonged exclusively to him had long since become the bedroom of the Dragon Descendant and her personal maids.
If the original owner sacrificed power to acquire a powerful gunpowder-based army, then that was the sacrifice of power.
In recruiting the dragon's offspring, he offered up his dignity as a strategist and as a man.
Did he do something wrong?
Li Lin finds it difficult to comment, because these efforts have indeed yielded tremendous results.
They just didn't manage to handle it well.
Li Lin silently closed the door again and gestured for Yi Ge to continue leading the way.
He didn't want to step into those rooms again until he had completely erased all traces of the women in them.
After passing through the end of the corridor, the two arrived at a circular hall.
The hall has a very high dome, and the stone walls are covered with intricate dragon patterns. Each pattern emits a faint blue light, like water flowing slowly through the stone.
"Where did you put all the gold?" Yi Ge pointed to two wooden boxes in the corner.
Li Lin immediately stepped forward to check.
Inside were neatly arranged rectangular gold ingots for military service, twelve inches long, six inches wide, and a full centimeter thick. They were quite heavy and of high gold content.
"No wonder it's the most popular Shangyang Golden Ingot among all the provinces of China," Li Lin thought to himself.
Binlong himself was a top-notch weapon smith, and Shangyang City was home to a large number of skilled craftsmen who took pride in competing with each other at all costs.
"Have you picked out all the fakes?"
"Hmm," Yi Ge said, slowly circling the stone wall, "I'll take it for myself, you don't mind, do you?"
"Yes, you can use either." Li Lin nodded vigorously.
The opponent is currently the team's only mage, the designated damage dealer. He's not afraid of what Yi Ge wants, he's just afraid that she won't want anything.
"Just tell me what you want, and I'll do my best to get it for you."
He locked the wooden box, carefully considered his words, and asked Yi Ge, "It seems you've thoroughly studied the secrets inside this cart. Have you seen it before?"
"Every major clan's caravan has a spirit pool, so it's not surprising that I know about it." Yi Ge said calmly, stopping in front of a dull stone wall.
She seemed to see through Li Lin's desire to remain completely unaware of the internal structure of his truck, yet also to avoid being exposed.
He explained to himself, "The so-called spirit pool is a magical artifact that is embedded in a mansion, cave, or cart. Most of them are made by the Dragon Descendant Xiu Yanqing. Merchant caravans with some wealth can afford to purchase them. They can store ordinary goods and a small number of magical items, expanding the storage space to about two to three times the original volume."
"The next level up from the Spirit Pool is called Dragon Abyss. It was personally forged by the nine dragon sons and is extremely rare. Only kings, marquises, generals and ministers can obtain it. Its space can be expanded to more than ten times its original volume. It has an automatic anti-corrosion and preservation array inside, so fresh food stored inside will never rot."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over the flowing dragon patterns on the dome.
"And the highest level of spiritual pool is called the Dragon Palace."
"Made by the Jade Dragon Emperor, it has already departed with the Dragon Emperor and Empress, becoming a unique item. There are only a handful of known Dragon Palaces within the territory of Zhen Dan."
"I have never heard of the Dragon Palace's wondrous uses before. It is thanks to the young master's good fortune that I have the opportunity to witness its magnificence."
"The size of this space depends entirely on how much the builder is willing to invest, and the precision of the internal magic array is unparalleled. Even if I spend my entire life trying, I will not be able to comprehend even a fraction of it."
"but--"
She waved for Li Lin to come over, pointed to the unpatterned stone slab, and told Li Lin to place his hand on it.
"What's this?" Li Lin did as instructed.
"I suspect it's a mechanism to enter the Dragon Palace, where the real treasure room is located."
"You're guessing?"
"Hmm, it could also be some kind of trap to lure and kill intruders."
"ah?!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding light gathered and formed a vortex, enveloping the astonished Li Lin.
Yi Ge crossed his arms and observed carefully, then reminded Li Lin, "Remember to bring in anything useful from outside."
In the blink of an eye, Li Lin found himself in a brand new lobby.
The decor here is similar to the outside, except that the light coming in through the dome is brighter and warmer, like midday sunlight refracting through water, making it breathtakingly beautiful.
The lobby has four doors, one room door, and three large doors resembling insurance vaults.
Li Lin cautiously walked to a large door, which suddenly opened wide, revealing a dazzling golden light that almost blinded the unsuspecting Li Lin.
"gold?"
After adjusting to the golden light for a while, Li Lin looked inside and saw countless horseshoe-shaped gold ingots displayed among the densely packed, enormous cabinets.
Li Lin picked up a piece of gold ingot, twelve inches long, five inches wide, and half a centimeter thick, weighing exactly ten taels. It was not as heavy as the Shangyang gold ingot, but it was more regular and easier to trade.
The color is also more appealing; the reddish gold is close to amber, seemingly mixed with a metal even more precious than gold.
The front of the gold ingot is also cast with a tiny coiled dragon pattern, its body curled into a circle, occupying only an area the size of a fingernail in the central depression of the gold ingot. It is exquisite and unparalleled. Even among the royal artworks in the palace of the dragon prince, very few can compare with these horseshoe-shaped gold ingots.
"One cabinet, two cabinets, three cabinets..."
As Li Lin counted, his eyes widened.
Aside from some wooden boxes placed separately in the corner, there were about five thousand taels of gold stored inside!
It was exactly the amount the system task assigned to him!
To verify his hypothesis, Li Lin went to check the next few rooms one by one.
One room was a bedroom, another an empty library, and finally, in the armory behind the last large door.
Li Lin found the five pieces of equipment that the system had given him:
A crimson flaming battle banner, a milky-white bow made of poplar wood, an emerald green sphere made of branches of grass and trees, a jade staff carved with eight elemental symbols, and a spirit bottle made from a single piece of jade.
It is the Eternal Flame Banner, the Poplar Bow, the Forest Branch, the Five Elements Staff, and the Jar of All Spirits!
Good heavens! The reward is being sent straight to the Dragon Palace!
