Warhammer Fantasy: I Have Total War System

Chapter 32 Dividing the Troops

The "Subservient System" in the game is a feature designed for military allies or vassals.

Players can earn "Ministerial Points" by helping allies achieve strategic objectives. These points can be used to recruit friendly units and command allies in certain military operations.

Li Lin clicked on the newly added "Allied Recruitment" icon below the troop section.

The recruitment pool has appeared, with the ally selection bar in the upper left corner. Currently, it displays [Zhen Dan]. Recruitable units include:

【玉狮x4,30臣道点】【墨狮x4,30臣道点】【陶俑(普通)x1,120臣道点】

It's strange, but the ally recruitment system works like this: wherever the player builds an outpost, the recruiting buildings there will be able to recruit allied units.

Putting aside everything else, there must be peasant soldiers that can be recruited anywhere with zero resources, right?

Why are there only three construct units?

As he was thinking, he suddenly felt dizzy.

Fortunately, his body and ankles were tied to the dragon palanquin with iron chains, so he did not fall off.

Xing Ganqi stepped forward quickly, his face full of worry. "Young Master, now that we have been exonerated, why don't we go back and rest?"

"I'm fine," Li Lin said calmly, though he was terrified inside. His vision was filled with black and white static, and he could barely feel his own body. "Remember this: if I faint later, just pretend I'm dead. Squeeze out a few tears, and then immediately take me back to the Sinan cart. Don't actually bury me."

Xing Ganqi was a little confused, and hesitantly replied, "It's good that you have the means, but now that you've said that, I might... not be able to cry?"

Li Lin's vision went from white to black.

This guy is too honest; he's a bit slow on the uptake.

"Xing Ganqi, stay behind," he then instructed the other soldiers accompanying him. "Go back and inform the logistics officers about our departure in five hours."

The guards obeyed and left.

The money came in.

The layout inside the central command tent was exactly the same as when he last attended a military council meeting, with incense burning in a bronze censer and a sand table with light and shadow suspended in the center of the long table.

The curtains fell, and the fluorescent blue light of the sand table enveloped everyone.

Commander Yu, whose official title should now be Governor Yu, took out a hexagonal ritual implement and placed it in the sand tray.

As the light and shadows dissipated, the tent was plunged into darkness. Suddenly, several beams of light entered the foreheads of the group, and the voice of the governor and a topographical map of the entire Dimensional Stone Desert appeared directly in the minds of the commanders.

Li Lin's system interface was obscured, like two layers superimposed, making it impossible to see anything clearly. He had no choice but to temporarily stop researching the Chendao system.

"This is the marching route and the troop order of all the generals present. Please take a good look, my two commanders. Next, I will tell you some confidential matters that must not be divulged." Governor Yu got straight to the point.

"The place we are going to is not Nanli, but to go deep along the sulfur road to cut off the rebel army's grain and supplies being transported from the direction of Wengchang to Nanli."

Wengchang is a mining city located in the eastern part of the South, and it belongs to the same province as Pomei.

This place not only possesses key resources for building war machines and gunpowder, but it is also a strategic location fought over by military strategists for the westward advance along the Sulfur Road and the southward advance along the Lower Yuan Stone Desert.

"I support any decision that helps us reclaim Nanli," Li Lin, as the young master of Nanli, said first.

He doesn't even have the strength to speak now; thankfully, he was able to make a sound after switching to communication mode.

Governor Yu nodded slightly, and several key markers appeared on the topographic map—Nanli, Wengchang, Pomei, and Aomen Pass.

"This journey is fraught with peril, with no chance of survival."

"The rebellion in the north is not limited to Pomei City alone. An Tutong, the commander of Aomen Pass, has already sided with the rebel king Han Cheng." His words were like a dull knife, slowly cutting into the hearts of everyone present.

"Antutong commands nearly 20,000 garrison soldiers and Pomei weapons, and his men are all veterans who have fought against the northern barbarians for many years."

"Han Cheng's entire force is currently confronting the Dragon Emperor's Imperial Guards north of Mingzhu. An Tutong's generals are in charge of attacking Nangao and Nanli."

He paused for a moment, giving Li Lin time to process these important news items.

Li Lin appeared to be deep in thought, but in reality, he didn't show much emotion.

[Side Quest 2] I warned him a long time ago that Nanli is already an apocalyptic battlefield.

In terms of rewards, the cannibal battle I just experienced was probably nothing compared to the intensity of the Southern Battlefield.

"It's a day's journey north from the fortress. After passing through the canyon pass, we will split up and head to Wengchang." General Zhao's voice rang out softly, carrying an indescribable sense of tragic grandeur.

"Huh? Are all the commanders leaving?" Li Lin exclaimed in surprise.

Nearly four-fifths of this allied force consisted of nine commanders, each of whom was an elite force such as the Heavenly Dragon Guard, Jade Dragon Horse, and Anguan Cavalry.

The rest were peasant soldiers like Li Lin and Yu Yong armored soldiers.

What if the cannibal army catches up with us again along the way?

What should I do if I encounter rebel forces while detouring south?

He has no soldiers left!

Governor Yu seemed to see through Li Lin's worries and calmly delivered a battle report that made Li Lin's hands and feet grow colder: "The allied forces of Biaolong and Lord Nangao have already engaged in a decisive battle with the rebels at Baigu Pass."

"Biaolong single-handedly shot down three Skyship fleets and killed five vanguard generals under Antutong."

"But her troops are also—" He paused, then it was obvious, "...unmanned. Even if Biaolong could take Nanli by himself, he wouldn't be able to hold it."

"Our mission is to help Biaolong consolidate its gains, cut off the rebels' supplies and provisions, delay their regrouping, and buy Biaolong time to rebuild."

"At that time, the rebels will certainly not have enough troops to pursue you to the west."

Li Lin sensed something amiss in his words: "Us? Does Governor Yu intend for me to lead the rest of the men back to Nangao?"

"Yes." All the commanders nodded in agreement.

Li Lin didn't know what he was thinking. In a moment of impulse, he almost said that he wanted to go to the front lines with the generals.

But reason prevailed and he quickly suppressed this absurd thought.

Having finally become a young master in this lifetime, he still wanted to reclaim Nanli first, fight some battles to experience the feeling of a 3D total war game, enjoy a few good years, and not die so young.

Besides, he would only be a burden if he went; they don't really need another commander like him.

Sigh, if only he could bring all those max-level troops from the game over here.

"I... I am grateful for the kindness of all the commanders, but I have a mission to fulfill and cannot die, so I have no choice but to become a deserter."

"We failed to defend Shangyang, and this trip is to atone for our mistakes. You have suffered an undeserved calamity, so how can you talk about desertion?" General Zhao reprimanded sternly, like an elder reprimanding a junior who spoke out of turn, or a homeroom teacher disciplining a student who was secretly playing on their phone during evening self-study.

"Lord Yu has ordered you to lead the team; just do as he says."

Li Lin shrank his neck and nodded reluctantly.

Several generals with good eyesight laughed when they saw this.

The military meeting continued, and Commander Yu spoke again about the pursuing troops.

Simply put, Li Lin has wiped out most of the cannibals' mobile forces. As long as they march through the night without stopping, they are unlikely to be caught.

There was also the traitorous Lord Dong Yan of Shangyang, who had been killed by the border generals Ye Sheng and Feng Yao. However, the two not only failed to quell the rebellion, but instead intensified it.

Among them, Nomori was originally appointed by the Binlong court as the "General Who Destroys the Barbarians" to suppress cannibals and the people of the northwest border.

The fact that the cannibal army was allowed to enter the pass must have been orchestrated by him. That's why Governor Yu said earlier that the cannibal gang defeated by Li Lin was "Ye Sheng's lackey".

Nomori maintained two types of imperial guards called "Hongwu Commanders" and "Liangyi Guards," who were particularly skilled in...

Li Lin was listening for a while when he suddenly felt like he was flying.

Looking down, holy crap, he realized he was still strapped to the dragon palanquin.

"Young Master?"

Xing Ganqi saw that Li Lin's head suddenly drooped down and he stopped moving, so he quickly went over to check his breathing.

There wasn't a breath left.

"Don't panic," Fang Sicheng said, appearing at some point with a small luminous pearl hanging from his jade fan. "Don't disturb the commanders' discussion."

"But the young master..."

"I know." Fang Sicheng touched the small green bottle on Li Lin's chest through his clothes, then gestured to Yun Mosige next to him to move Li Lin away.

"You lead the way and take your young master back to the camp to rest and recuperate. He has a magical artifact protecting him, and he should wake up around the time we set off."

"Remember, guard the room during this time and do not let anyone touch him."

Upon hearing this, Xing Ganqi felt that what he said matched the young master Li's instructions.

No longer making a fuss, he quickly led the way for Yunmosige, who was carrying the sedan chair, and quietly withdrew from the central military tent.

Li Lin's consciousness drifted upwards in a daze.

A cold, dark sun hangs in the sky above the desert, attracting many rootless souls like itself.

He heard a cacophony of sounds, as if they were coming from a space that didn't exist in this world, as if they were coming through a veil.

"Knowledge..." "...Happiness"

"Change..." "Stimulus..."

"Come, come, listen, come and learn, I will teach you all the truths of this world..." "...The world is full of illusions and hardships, better to sink into the sweetness of the hall."

Oh, the whispers of the devil, I know that well.

Li Lin's soul, which had been floating upwards, suddenly plummeted downwards again. The small green bottle on his chest emitted bursts of light, trying to draw his soul into it.

The core function of the Jar of Ten Thousand Spirits is to protect the souls of the Dragon Emperor's people from being defiled by the Chaos God.

Unless, of course, the owner of the ritual implement has a desire to possess it.

His men were all dead, and after that, it was extremely difficult to recruit more soldiers. He desperately needed a strong force that could be quickly assembled.

The demons he summons are Tzeentch on one side and Slaanesh on the other—coincidentally, both are factions he excels in.

Considering that the Aurora forces are severely lacking in inexpensive, highly mobile, and armor-piercing units.

And his filthy desire to have a lewd affair with Slaanesh.

Without hesitation, Li Lin focused his consciousness, attempting to gravitate towards Slaanesh's domain.

"Very good, good boy, very good." Countless soft and sweet voices surrounded him, while Tzeentch's devilish whispers were extinguished as quickly as a candle flame in the rain.

As the outline of Prince Slaanesh's palace appeared before him, a slender hand exuding a captivating musky scent, aided by some kind of green energy, broke through the veil of reality, about to imprint Slaanesh's mark on Li Lin's soul.

A blood-red blade of light suddenly descended from the sky, slicing the delicate hand and countless souls soaring in the air into utter nothingness with overwhelming force.

His soul is mine!

Li Lin's vision went black.

He heard fierce barking dogs and the hissing of snakes, the two locked in a fierce battle, their hatred boundless.

It was then absorbed into the Jar of All Spirits and, nourished by the soft green light, fell into a deep slumber...
