Wizard's Journey
Chapter 138 Harmonious Humanities
Chapter 138 Harmonious Humanities
Two days later.
Peranos and Green flew away from the airship. In the distance, on the flat land below, a crescent-shaped lake with shimmering water flowed quietly, like a mother nurturing a new life.
"So bustling yet... so peaceful and serene?" Green was genuinely astonished.
Above a city that resembles a dazzling pearl on the shores of Moon Lake, caravans of birds come and go in an endless stream. The birds rise and fall, gather and disperse, carrying their goods to their destination time and time again.
The goods provided by these birds must be luxury items that cannot be preserved for long periods of time.
In the heart of the city stands a majestic building, similar in height to the Black Tower, but instead of a spire, it tops a massive cylindrical platform where hundreds of figures are neatly arranged. A dozen or so airships, moored around the building, are busily transporting passengers—mostly ordinary wizard apprentices, merchants, and even some knights, with the occasional adventurer or scholar among them.
A short while later, a balloon airship departed fully loaded, while new balloon airships flew in from afar.
It seems that balloons and airships have become a common mode of transportation in the bustling central area of Santa Maria delle Grazia.
Not only in terms of business exchange and development structure, but also in the humanistic urban architectural structure, this place is very different from the regional college.
The city here has no towering walls or watchtowers, only castles, manors, and densely packed white marble buildings radiating outwards from the city center in an orderly fashion. On the streets, you can see wizard apprentices wearing magic robes at any time. Wizards here seem to have blended in with ordinary people, without obvious class characteristics or mystery.
Peranos and Green landed on a neat bluestone-paved ground beside a winding stream.
Several waterfowl were frolicking in the stream. A gentle breeze rippled the water, causing Peranos and Green to close their eyes in contentment. Their robes fluttered in the breeze, and they silently enjoyed the harmonious beauty of this human-dominated wizarding civilization.
"Every time I come here, I feel much better," Peranos suddenly said to Green.
Green nodded and said softly, "The beautiful environment and peaceful atmosphere here are elegant and noble, much more relaxing and harmonious than the regional academy. It is suitable for arcane wizards to explore the truth and knowledge in peace."
Nearby, several passersby bowed and nodded respectfully to Peranos and Green before leaving as if it were nothing out of the ordinary. Several children, still wearing open-crotch pants, stared wide-eyed at Green and Peranos, showing no fear whatsoever despite Peranos's terrifying appearance.
The cultural environment here is indeed much more beautiful and harmonious than that of the regional college, and also much more open and vibrant.
It has less cruelty, violence, and fighting, and more composure, depth, and tranquility.
"Let's go. I haven't seen this old guy in decades. I wonder what he's been researching lately. This time, hehehe... we must give him a 'surprise,' a big surprise!" Peranos said with an evil grin. After covering his face with a layer of black mist, he walked ahead and led Green towards the center of this bustling city.
Along the way, Green was dazzled and overwhelmed by the variety of wonderful products.
Magic lamps, image-capturing crystal balls, talcum powder, and even some simple wizard potions and wizard food have become commonplace items here, neatly displayed in some shops with clearly marked prices.
In a pet shop, several brightly colored talking parrots are placed in the most conspicuous position, along with all sorts of strange little creatures, making it a popular dating spot for many young boys and girls experiencing their first crush.
In a romantic midnight bar, girls dressed as bunny girls and catgirls struck various cute poses, using simple wizard props to enhance the atmosphere. One daring snake girl even blew a bubble at Grimm.
even……
Green also discovered a shop selling Venus perfume, but besides Venus perfume, the shop now had many other perfumes and fragrances of various other types, with strange and romantic names.
On a large open-air stage, scenes from novels and biographies are being performed. A large crowd of men and women are clapping excitedly, including some wizard apprentices dressed in wizard robes and knights carrying greatswords. The crowd is completely absorbed in the stage story and cannot tear themselves away.
Inside a towering and imposing building, knights, wizard apprentices, and even full-fledged wizards came and went, gazing at the quest scrolls hanging high on the walls, occasionally discussing something in small groups...
It seems that here, commoners can easily hire wizard apprentices or even full wizards to complete their tasks and fulfill their wishes by spending magic stones.
Throughout the city, the wizarding civilization and the lives of ordinary people have been perfectly integrated, creating a harmonious and peaceful environment.
"Green, when you get to that old guy, don't mention your Senior Sister Youquan's matter, hehe..." Peranos suddenly said with a sharp laugh.
Green paused for a moment, then nodded absentmindedly and replied, "I understand."
Green guessed that something must have happened between his mentor Peranos and that "old friend" with the senior sister, and that his mentor probably took advantage of the situation.
You can tell from that wicked grin...
A towering white marble castle, seventy or eighty meters high, came into Green's view. In front of the castle was a undulating, lush green lawn, bathed in the bright, warm sunlight, with the occasional butterfly chasing each other as it flew by. There were no thick walls around the castle to block the view; only flowerbeds full of flowers were visible through the fence for passersby to admire, demonstrating the high degree of harmony and openness of the community.
Peranos led Green to the iron gate, took out a crystal ball, and magic flowed within it.
A moment later, an equally ugly face, resembling a sewn-up ball, appeared on the crystal ball!
"Hey, junior brother, your senior brother is here to see you. Hurry up and come down to open the door." Peranos said this to Green's jaw drop in astonishment.
Uh……
The mentor's so-called friend turned out to be his junior colleague?
The other ugly face inside the crystal ball was stunned for a moment, then suddenly there was a crisp "splat" behind it, as if something had broken, and at the same time a mischievous laugh of a young girl came out.
"Oh, damn it, Barbara, shut up for a second and stop causing trouble at a time like this!" The crisp sound seemed to startle the old wizard from his daze. The old wizard in the crystal ball shouted behind him, then turned and glared at Peranos, yelling, "Don't be so smug, Peranos! I'll win those pufferfish back sooner or later, you robber, you liar!"
Green's face darkened; it seemed the situation between his mentor and his junior brother was rather complicated.
"Hehe! Junior brother, you're making me very sad. We made a bet back then, and you agreed to it. How come you're saying I stole your 'fish' now? Not only am I sad, but Gahei will be sad too." Peranos's tone was extremely "cheap".
"Ah! You bastard, don't mention that wretched black cat to me! You two are both liars, both liars, not one of you is any good!" The old wizard on the other side of the crystal ball almost jumped up and roared at Peranos.
puff……
The crystal ball is closed.
Peranos turned around and saw Green staring at him in disbelief. He gave a sinister laugh and walked over to Green, saying, "You stand over there."
Uh?
Green dared not disobey his mentor's orders and walked to the spot designated by Peranos. Then, Peranos cast some kind of spell, and Green began to shrink gradually. After a few breaths, he became a tiny figure, no bigger than a little finger, standing astonished on the bluestone floor.
However, Green didn't seem panicked.
This sorcery seems to be a deep application of some kind of spatial power, and it appears that Green is currently in a "semi-sealed" state.
Peranos bent down, took Green in his hand, tucked it into his sleeve, and waited there.
After a while.
The castle's wooden gate creaked open, and an old wizard in a white robe, carrying a magic wand, walked across the grass. The stitched-up skin on his face was exactly like Peranos's. After the wizard opened the iron gate, Peranos walked into the courtyard with an excited expression.
"Haha, junior brother, it's been decades since I last saw you. That seven-flavor fruit tree in your manor has grown quite lush." Peranos suddenly said this.
The white-robed wizard snorted and glared at Peranos, saying, "Don't even think about messing with it."
As he spoke, the old white-robed wizard huffed and puffed, preparing to lead Peranos into the castle. But Peranos chuckled and said, "Oh? By the way, didn't you find another disciple sixty years ago, junior brother? Where is he this time?"
"What do you want to do?" The white-robed wizard glanced at Peranos warily.
That expression was exactly like that of a helpless beauty cautiously guarding against a pervert's spy.
Peranos frowned and shook his head with a sigh, "Ah... Junior brother, why are you like this again? What can I, as your senior brother, do? I just saw that you've taken on another disciple, and one who seems to have exceptional talent. I gave you a gift sixty years ago, so congratulations on finally winning back our bet. Perfect timing, I've already tasted the 'skinned fish,' it's time to return it to you..."
Peranos's tone was just like that of an old wizard who had been misunderstood and had become disillusioned with life.
The white-robed wizard stared at Peranos with his mouth agape, a look of disbelief on his face for a long time before exclaiming in astonishment, "Then why don't you...?"
"Look, look, look!" Peranos pointed at the white-robed wizard with an expression of utter disapproval of his junior brother, saying, "You expect your senior brother to return it to you empty-handed? Is that returning it? That's giving it away! Would you, as my junior brother, need me to give you those fish that were originally yours? Of course not..."
Inside Peranos' sleeve, Green almost burst out laughing, and he covered his mouth tightly.
The white-robed wizard gritted his teeth, his eyelids twitching, and said, "So what you mean is..."
Peranos's expression turned serious: "Sign the same contract as last time, let my disciple fight your disciple, then I can rightfully return the Paozi Fish to you, can't I?"
"A contract! It's that same old trick again! Let me tell you..."
The white-robed wizard was about to jump up on the spot, but Peranos stopped him, winking and glaring at him in a low voice, "I took in my disciple right in front of you. You don't even have that much faith in your disciple, do you?"
Varo!?
The white-robed wizard seemed to remember something; his eyes lit up and his spirits lifted!
The white-robed wizard looked at Peranos in astonishment. He knew Varo's meager abilities; to think he could fight his disciple was just a pipe dream... This was practically a freebie!
Haha!
The white-robed wizard breathed a sigh of relief, secretly pleased, and glanced at the affectionate Peranos beside him. He looked at Peranos with satisfaction and said, "Third Senior Brother, I didn't expect your temper to have changed so much over the years?"
In an instant, even the way he was addressed was changed to Third Senior Brother.
Peranos gave a sheepish, dejected laugh, said nothing, and looked as if he had been misunderstood for years, letting out a disappointed sigh.
That expression was even more convincing than Green's disguise.
A moment later, an equal contract was signed. The white-robed wizard wagered the Seven Flavors Fruit Tree, while Peranos wagered twenty-seven Paozi Fish. Both of them secretly smiled with excitement and breathed a sigh of relief beneath their wide robes.
