Wizard's Journey

Chapter 2000 Abyss Battlefield

Chapter 1998 Abyss Battlefield (Twenty-Three)

The boy looked to be in his early twenties, with messy hair and an earring in his right ear. He had a somewhat rebellious look, but it was now completely replaced by panic. He looked around frantically, terrified.

Green and Millie comforted the boy as they led him to the research institute's lobby.

However, when the boy saw the television screen in the laboratory lobby, he shuddered like a mouse seeing a cat, struggling violently, causing Green and Millie to lean against the wall, barely managing not to fall.

"What do you do?!"

Two burly Black security guards ran over, pointing their batons at the young man, and asked Green, "Dean Green, should we kick him out? If we let this lunatic come and go as he pleases, it will be hard to guarantee the safety of the other people in the building."

"Oh, no, no, he's just scared. He'll be fine in a minute, trust me."

Green helped the young man up again. Realizing what had happened, the young man tried to control himself and managed to calm down a bit. He was still panting heavily. The two black security guards exchanged a glance, looked at the young man with a warning look, pointed their batons at him, and slowly left.

"Waaaaah, Dean Green, the God of Media has appeared! Believe me, he's a real god! He warned me to stay away from the 18th, but I have no idea what that means! Tomorrow is October 18th, is he warning me of my death? Waaaaah, I never thought gods really existed, and I've never believed in any god since I was little. Why is he targeting me? I'm so scared, what should I do? Waaaaah..."

His speech was somewhat incoherent, and the young man's dark circles from years of staying up late showed extreme fatigue and fear.

"Number 18?"

Green frowned and exchanged a glance with Millie, whose face was covered in wrinkles. They both saw confusion in each other's eyes.

"Don't be afraid. First, tell me how you came into contact with the God of the Media, how it warned you, and whether you have been behaving in any unusual way recently. As far as we know, it is difficult for gods to directly intervene in or influence human life."

As he spoke, Green took out his mobile phone and began searching online for events of September 18th. However, all he found were irrelevant clues, such as the fact that the romantic poet Wengni died on September 18th, World Environment Day being September 8th, and the lottery numbers for September 18th. He couldn't find any useful information at all.

"I'm a cyber hacker, and I'm fairly well-known in the industry. Everyone calls me 'Sniff Dog,' but I haven't really accomplished anything significant. I just pirate things to make a little money. A few days ago, I accidentally discovered a network black hole, which is basically a data loss point. Normally, such a black hole lasts for a few seconds at most, but for some reason, this network black hole doesn't seem to be disappearing. Out of curiosity, I tried to crack the source code of this network black hole. I found that this source code is not a binary data chain, but an incredibly complex jumble of equations."

Swallowing hard, the young man continued, "Then, the deeper I learned, the more terrified I became of this raw code. It felt like I was being pulled into another world, a data world of code. I even felt that this wasn't a secret I discovered randomly, but something waiting for me, giving me this opportunity! Sure enough, today, all the devices I could access, all the information, was telling me in binary code to stay away from Number 18. I... I really don't know what to do!"

"A warning from the god of media? How can you be so sure this is the god of media?"

Millie asked, then, as if remembering something, added, "By the way, how did you find this place?"

"It's Jenny, a female friend of mine. She works here and has told me a lot about you..."

Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump.

The familiar sound of high heels approached. Everyone looked over and saw Green's assistant, a young woman in a black miniskirt, walking towards them with a mysterious smile. The young man beside Green froze, then exclaimed in surprise, "Jenny!?"

Suddenly, the young man seemed to notice something. Looking at the name tag on Jenny's chest, which read "Number 18," his expression froze. Looking at Jenny's unchanging, mysterious, and eerie smile, he felt an indescribable chill creep up from the bottom of his heart. Recalling their past interactions, he felt as if he had fallen into an abyss, and fear completely enveloped him.

Green also sensed something was wrong, stepped in front of the young man, and calmly asked, "Who are you?"

"Hmph."

With an arrogant gaze, Jenny's mysterious smile became even more astonishing, and the edges of her body seemed to blur like steam, becoming somewhat distorted and unreal.

"Instead of asking who I am, let me tell you who you are first, esteemed Dean Green. Everything about you fascinates me. During the time we've been in contact, I've conducted 3,652 sensory simulations on you, and without exception, every battle between us has ended in my complete defeat."

As she spoke, the distortions around the woman's body transformed into bizarre, code-like structures that spread in all directions, leaving only a surreal head in the air, conversing with several people.

In contrast to Green and Millie's calmness, the young man named Jason next to them was almost scared to death. Looking at this absurd, terrifying and bizarre scene, his face was deathly pale, and he looked like he might lose control of his bladder and bowels at any moment.

"You are not the God of Time, nor the God of the Stars, nor any modern god. Are you a tribal god who survived from ancient times? Or an unknown being from the distant river of time beyond the internet?"

Having studied the history of the intercontinental continent for so many years, as the birthplace and core of the Wuji Divine Alliance, this world contains other rules, such as the blessing of converting faith in gods into immortality, and the additional restriction on gods not being able to manifest. Generally speaking, only the most powerful gods can reveal their true forms and interfere with people's normal biological life.

The most powerful gods are beings at the level of the God of Time and the God of the Stars!

The gods are not afraid of death, but of being forgotten.

The ancient pantheon, led by the God of Time and the God of the Stars, wiped out the ancient gods of the tribe, thus propelling the progress of so-called human civilization. People of that time preferred to gather in churches and worship the new gods who were blessed with various hymns, gradually forgetting the powerful ancient gods who had once been worshipped by the tribe.

however!

In recent years, with the emergence of various mechanical products and electronic devices, new modern gods have also appeared. People are becoming increasingly addicted to these new products, spending far more time on video games and racing than on worship. No, perhaps young people have already forgotten God and abandoned their faith. Churches are gradually being replaced by business meeting centers, dating through social media has replaced the matchmaking of the god of love, and the passion of simulation games has extinguished war and courage. For young people, media and machines have even made them forget about time and space!

The war between the modern gods and the ancient gods is about to begin!

"No matter who I am, since you already know you have no chance against me, don't put on this act. I'm just a passerby."

Green spoke calmly, while Millie secretly asked, "Even here, activating fourth-level biological abilities is the limit. The special rules of this world are oppressing us. Under that unparalleled, vast, and immense power, if we were to forcibly activate higher-level powers, it would be enough to squeeze us out of this world."

"No, no, no, no, please don't misunderstand. I'm not making this gesture at you. The times are on my side. As they continue to develop, any factor that benefits me will flourish. So those ancient gods can no longer wait, right, God of Time?"

Zh...

The television, which had been off, suddenly turned on. On the screen appeared an old man with a white beard, wearing round-framed glasses and dressed like Santa Claus. Behind him was a huge clock ticking away, looking at him from behind the screen.

"It took me three hundred years to find a way to invade your domain. I must say, this is truly an amazing domain, haha."

The old man chuckled, glancing at Jenny's head floating in mid-air, completely ignoring Green and Millie beside him, and said impatiently, "It's time to remind the people of this world of the respect they deserve for the ancient gods. So... let the war begin!"
