Wizard's Journey
Chapter 330 The Nest of the World
Chapter 330 The Nest of the World (Part Six)
The two teams of witchers set off again for the core of the World's Nest.
Three months later.
After a long three-month journey through the World's Nest, the two teams of witchers traversed more than twenty nest spaces of varying sizes before finally arriving at the largest nest space in the World's Nest, marked by a crystal ball: the Tarantula's Nest.
"This...this nest space is actually experiencing a blizzard? I'm not seeing things, am I?!"
Behind Green, a demon hunter with two fangs protruding from the corners of his mouth and incredibly pale skin spoke in surprise.
The witcher was catching snowflakes with one hand and raising the elemental light on his magic staff with the other, constantly examining the nest space called the Wolf Spider's Nest.
The team of witch hunters from Alashan stopped and joined Green and his team.
One of the level two demon hunter wizards glanced at the level one wizard in Grimm's team and said indifferently, "Given that the area of this nest is no less than that of a large world fragment, it is quite normal for it to be able to cause changes in the world's rules."
Ararat nodded his withered face, surveyed the howling wind and snow within the tarantula's nest, and said in a deep voice, "A nest of this size can already be considered an independent world with a complete ecosystem. To put it figuratively, the passages we traversed earlier were like constantly weaving through cracks in the world."
Green stood atop the Thousand-Eyed Crab, looking down at the ground marked by crisscrossing trenches and traces of fierce battle, the pits and craters stretching to an unseen end, everywhere bearing the marks of intense energy bombardment.
One can only imagine the fierce battles that the witch hunters fought in this lair.
The vegetation in the snow and ice was almost completely uprooted, and some small snow and ice mountains were blasted open, leaving them looking like they were half-erected.
Some gullies are several meters deep and nearly a hundred meters in area, with the frozen, hard earth cracking in all directions.
Upon closer inspection, the shape of this cracked groove actually resembles the shape of a handprint or a footprint.
Although the wizard's body was not found, some broken wizard artifacts and fragments of wizard robes were discovered, which were likely collected by the wizards and mechanical puppets who were cleaning up the mess.
As for the corpses of the large and small soul slave monsters, they were countless, spread out along the way.
Scarlet, dark green, mixed colors...
Blood of all colors stained the ground and then froze, as if the ground were a playful palette of nature's artistry, yet it was also filled with a cruel, tragic, and devastating atmosphere.
Of course, what they found even more along the way were the corpses of giant black spiders, so numerous they were practically uncountable, as if they were waging a war of resistance against an invasion of the world by native creatures.
These dark gray spiders were named Nest Wolf Spiders by the pioneering witcher wizards.
These nesting tarantulas range in size from over ten meters long, looking ferocious and terrifying, to only a dozen centimeters long, resembling a dinner plate. Their corpses are densely packed on the ground where all the traces of the intense battles left by the witch hunters have been.
Some nesting tarantulas were blasted to pieces by the witchcraft, becoming mangled corpses, while others were half-eaten by the slave monsters, their remains thrown aside.
There were simply too many lair tarantulas here, even the slave monsters couldn't eat them all.
These adult nesting wolf spiders are covered in black, steel-spiky hairs. Their spherical abdomens are decorated with patterns resembling a crying face. Their six short, thick, and powerful legs are covered in barbs. A pair of giant steel fangs on their heads occupy half of their skulls, making them look ferocious, terrifying, and incredibly cruel.
Green directed the Thousand-Eyed Crab to land on the ground of this nest space.
Splash, splash...
Amidst the metallic scraping sounds, Naraku manipulated the black chains like a nimble giant hand, tearing apart the corpse of a six-legged giant wolf slave monster, over ten meters long and torn in two, and lifting up the corpse of a nesting wolf spider that had been pierced through by a lightning spell.
This nesting tarantula is about four meters long and has reached the level of a first-level creature, and is considered extremely strong among first-level creatures.
"It's not poisonous."
After examining the fangs and black, needle-like hairs of the nesting tarantula, Naraku said calmly.
Immediately afterwards, Naraku manipulated the black chains to extend into the body of the nesting tarantula, and with a nauseating "gurgling" sound, began an on-site dissection and analysis.
The slightly plump witch behind Green took out a plate-like magical artifact, which emitted a light green light shield, enveloping a small nesting tarantula for careful observation.
Through their previous interactions, Green already knew that this slightly plump female witch hunter was the only one among the fourteen who studied sonic magic.
After a while, the slightly plump female witch hunter placed a crown-like magical artifact on the green light shield of the specimen on the plate. The witch's expression changed slightly, as if she had discovered something.
Green stared at the crown-shaped artifact, recalling some past events.
This magical artifact is the Crown of Insight. Green also possessed it during his wizarding apprenticeship, but he rarely used it after the research on the art of transformation matured.
This is a common auxiliary item similar to a chirping branch.
The slightly plump witch said gravely, "Bad news. These nesting tarantulas not only have extremely strong sonic attack capabilities, but they also possess a rare kind of thought-voice ability, which can have a range of effects such as interference, hallucination, and hypnosis."
"Squeak squeak squeak..."
The little squirrel perched on the witch's head, holding a pine cone, also chirped a few times.
The Voice of Thought!
Not only Green, but the other demon hunters also changed their expressions.
For elemental wizards, the most feared thing is this strange ability that affects their thinking and judgment!
On the contrary, those body-refining wizards from the deepest abyss, whether they are wild wizards who often walk on the edge of life and death, knightly body-refining wizards, or body-refining wizards with explosive elemental surges, all have excellent resistance to this ability.
"Found it! This nesting tarantula was definitely a level three creature in life!"
Lulena raised her magic staff high, drawing out elemental light, and shouted from over a thousand meters away, while beneath her lay the shriveled corpse of a rare, giant lair tarantula, over ten meters long.
The shriveled corpse of the nesting tarantula was pressed to the ground as if swatted by a giant hand, leaving a huge palm print nearly a hundred meters long cracked all around it.
Needless to say, the one who inflicted such a devastating blow on this nesting tarantula must have been the Black Sota Saint Mark Wizard.
Level 3 creature!
The crowd's expressions grew more serious as they flew over to carefully sense the remains of the lair tarantula.
That's right, it is indeed a level three organism. Although it is weaker than the Thousand-Eyed Crab, its cell activity far exceeds that of a typical level two organism.
All the witch hunters couldn't help but exchange glances.
It truly lives up to its reputation as a nest space specially marked by the command center's crystal ball; the previous nest spaces are on a completely different level compared to this tarantula's nest.
From this tarantula's nest onwards, the witcher officially enters the second half of the journey through the World Nest.
However, looking at it from another perspective, everyone couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
As expected of the Black Sota Saint Mark Wizard, this powerful creature, which everyone regarded as a formidable enemy, was casually crushed to death on the ground like a fly.
On the ground, the cracked layers of frozen rock reveal a handprint that is clearly visible from high above.
The old witch Aravana gripped her magic wand tightly and said gravely to Grimm, "It seems we need to be careful if we want to pass through this nest space safely. I think we should combine the two teams into one and look out for each other."
Having this thousand-eyed giant crab, a level three creature, around certainly makes one feel much more at ease.
Green's expression was equally grave. After scanning the horrific battlefield beneath his Mask of Truth, he said in a deep voice, "Although, according to the information from the crystal ball, the vanguard demon hunter team led by the Black Sota Saint Mark Wizard had specifically guarded this nest space for a month, practically turning it upside down, it's still possible that some nest spider swarms have remained. It's estimated... if the number of these strange creatures capable of influencing demon hunters' minds exceeds one hundred..."
The figure of one hundred is Green's best estimate, given the full support of the Thousand-Eyed Crab.
The Thousand-Eyed Crab will be fine, at least it will be able to escape successfully, but the group of demon hunters will suffer losses.
And so, with everyone proceeding cautiously and solemnly, they flew along the route marked by the most frequent battles between the wizards.
