Wizard's Journey

Chapter 501 The Awakening Lamp

Chapter 501 The Awakening Lamp

The Nightmare World is a parasite of the Wizarding World, and therefore also has the rules of day and night.

The darkness is a scene of panic and oppression, where everything is blurred in the distance, shrouded in a nightmare fog, and nothing can be seen. Every bed where someone is sleeping is an entrance to the wizarding world.

In other words, it's the place in the wizarding world where human spirits spiral out of control and enter the nightmare world.

After daybreak, all the world rifts between the Wizarding World and the Nightmare World seemed to close, and the hazy mist in the distance dissipated. However, the entire world seemed to have become a semi-illusory entity, similar to the semi-illusory entity of Grimm's body at night.

A black sun hung high in the sky.

The ground, trees, rocks, and buildings began to become hazy and distorted, exuding an ominous nightmare aura, but Green's body became solid, out of place in the nightmare world.

The endless black, disgusting worms on the ground had also disappeared, as if they were just an illusion in the night.

"I don't know how that terrifying being that's been targeting me is sensing me and searching for me. But just to be on the safe side, changing locations is always a good idea."

With that in mind, Green carefully observed the surrounding port streets and then tried to fly.

There was no uncomfortable or oppressive feeling.

In the wizarding world and the nightmare world, daytime is the dormant period for terrifying creatures.

Thinking about it, that makes sense. With the characteristic of being almost impossible to kill, these terrifying creatures must have some other inherent flaws.

"Not all the terrifying beings in this world are as powerful as the one who's eyeing me. Perhaps I should start by trying to understand some of the weaker, more terrifying beings."

Green pondered for a moment, then suddenly remembered Little Eight.

"Hachi?"

Green tried to call out, but although he subconsciously sensed Hachi's lively presence, he couldn't connect with him at all. It felt like feeling someone was beside you in a dream, but you just couldn't wake up.

With a sigh, Green gave up trying to contact Xiao Ba.

As expected of a virtual world sealed in time and space, it has completely prevented Green and Hachi from having the talent to communicate across time and space.

He retrieved the Shadow Meteor from the dimensional gap. With a creak, the metal hatch of the upper half of the Shadow Meteor opened, and Grimm fell inside. He decided to take advantage of the relatively safe daytime in the Nightmare World to travel to other ordinary human cities to find and understand the terrifying life forms in this world, or what might be called Nightmare Shadows.

The metal hatch closed again, and with a "whoosh," the Shadow Starshot shot into the distance.

After flying for about four hourglasses and crossing a small patch of thorny forest, Grimm arrived at an ordinary small town. Judging from the twisted, nightmarish city buildings, Grimm roughly estimated that this town had only a few thousand inhabitants in the wizarding world; it was an ordinary small town.

With a creak, the metal hatch of the Shadow Starfall opened and landed smoothly three meters above the ground.

"Hopefully, I'll have a fruitful evening in this small town."

Thinking this, Green fell from the Spy Shadow Star, storing it in the dimensional gap. He estimated that it would take about two more hourglasses before nightfall.

With such a long time to spare, perhaps we should study something else.

Lost in thought, suddenly, Grimm opened a dimensional gap and took out a beam of pure white light. This was actually the light of awakening the Mirage Realm that Grimm had collected in the Giant Rock Mountain.

The weight of the Awakening Light in Grimm's hands was no less than that of a boulder!

The pure white and soft light was completely out of place with the blurry, ominous, and distorted rings of the nightmare world. Even the blurry and distorted environment around Green began to become real because of the light of awakening.

"Does it dispel nightmares? Or awaken reality?"

Green was amazed.

When Green first opened the dimensional rift last night, he discovered some unusual effects of the Awakening Light on the Nightmare World.

However, since I had just entered the nightmare world and was unfamiliar with and afraid of this unknown environment, I needed to hide myself as much as possible, protect myself, and make my own safety my top priority.

Now, after some initial exploration, Green discovered that the terrifying creatures in the Nightmare World weren't as numerous as he had imagined. He wondered if the Wizarding World was simply too vast or if there were too few terrifying creatures.

At least at the port behind Blacksorta, Green did not find any trace of any terrifying life.

"Perhaps, this ray of awakening light can allow me to find the perfect hiding place in the nightmare world..."

Green observed the effects of the Awakening Light on the surrounding nightmare world, silently speculating.

This kind of domineering power is clearly not something that a low-level life form like Grimm can utilize; even simply carrying it around would be a huge burden.

Yet even the passive power of the Awakening Light possesses such incredible abilities.

After thinking for a moment, Green took out an exquisite crystal dome, put the Awakening Light into it, and used it as an unusual magic lamp, waiting for the night to fall in the nightmare world.

A crescent moon, resembling a gaping, malevolent grin, replaced the dark, round sun in the sky.

As the crimson crescent moon appeared, it was as if the nightmare world had been awakened. The illusory, distorted buildings in the small town, which exuded a nightmare atmosphere, began to solidify, but they also exuded an aura of decay, ruin, and misfortune.

The once pristine bluestone streets have now turned into mud, and disgusting black worms have crawled out of the mud everywhere, crowding together without making a sound.

The crying face patterns on the backs of the black worms around him seemed to be directed at Green, as if they were crying to him.

Wisps of nightmare mist rose from the ground and gathered in the air.

A short while later, the visibility in the fog-shrouded nightmare world dwindled to only a hundred meters or so, and Green began his second night in the nightmare world.

The difference is that Green now has an awakening lamp in his hand.

Under the soft, white light of the Awakening Lamp, the surrounding decaying buildings took on a more normal air, befitting the wizarding world. The soil beneath their feet transformed into cobblestone streets, and the black, disgusting worms seemed to be nothing more than an illusion.

Carrying the lamp of awakening, Green searched room by room in this small town for any possible shadows of nightmares, or traces of terrifying life.

Unfortunately, Green found nothing.

There seemed to be no signs of horrific life in this small town.

Unfortunately, in the latter half of the night, Green hid in a small hut and vaguely heard a man snoring through a crack in the narrow world of the wooden bed. Green sat on the oil-stained wooden chair in the hut, took out his wizard's notes and books on ice crystal crystallization, and fell into thought by the light of awakening.

After three days of this, having visited three different small towns, Green arrived at the fourth town.

This small town can no longer be considered a town; it's more accurate to call it a village.

The entire village has only about sixty or seventy households and only two stone houses.

One of the stone houses is a mill at the edge of the village, with a dilapidated windmill on its roof, exuding a strong sense of unease in the nightmare world at night. The other is a small three-story castle, seemingly the legacy of an ancient noble family in the wizarding world, which stands in stark contrast to the wooden houses and other buildings in the large village.

Naturally, Green first went to the mill at the edge of the village, but found nothing.

Searching along the dilapidated mud houses one by one, Green arrived at the three-story stone castle on the east side of the village.

"Waaaaah..."

It sounded as if a woman was crying coming from the second floor, something Green had never encountered before.

Surprised, after some preparation, Green opened the wizard's veil, took a deep breath, and then pushed open the door with a creak, striding into a room on the second floor of the castle.

tick tock...

crunch...

"Tick-tock" is an old wall clock in the room, made using gear mechanics and the principle of swinging. It is a common item in noble families in the wizarding world.

Strangely, the clock did not show any signs of decay or dilapidation; on the contrary, it was quite exquisite. The only unusual thing was that all the hands were turning backward.

The creaking sound came from the shaking of a huge wooden bed in front of them, and the woman's crying also came from a crack in the narrow space of the wooden bed.

"What is it?"

With one hand holding the Awakening Lamp and the other raising the Ram-Horned Skull Magic Wand, Grimm looked at the two twisted feet in the narrow world rift, seemingly desperately trying to crawl into the wizarding world.
