Wizard's Journey

Chapter 527 Half a Lifetime

"We've arrived at the Seventh Ring World."

The hexagonal metal hatch of the Seventh Ring Heart opened, and Grimm and a number of demon hunter wizards flew out of the metal hatch. They glanced at the dim sky and the mechanical airships coming and going, felt the unique rules of the Seventh Ring World, and then flew towards the Seventh Ring Holy Tower.

On Green's shoulder, Hachiko preened the beautiful feathers on its wings with its beak, muttering, "I wonder how little Vivian is doing."

Green remained silent.

Generally speaking, while the Seven Rings Tower can help wizard apprentices advance to become full wizards to some extent, the success rate of wizard apprentices advancing to full wizards in previous years is still not a fixed number.

Of the wizarding apprentices in Green's class, about a third never came out of the Seven Rings Tower after entering it. Among them was Yunli, whose talent for perceiving spatial boundaries was copied by Green using three secret great wizarding spells.

With a "whoosh," Green took out the Shadow Meteorite, boarded it, and transformed into a streak of light, shooting rapidly into the distance.

The Shadow Starfall releases the primal will of the Wizarding World. Even within the Seventh Ring World, everyone along the way silently makes way for it, allowing it to reach the Seventh Ring Holy Tower as quickly as possible.

After several hourglasses.

In the dim world, a towering tower, tens of thousands of meters high, made of flesh, metal, and energy, seemed to support the world of the Seventh Ring. An indescribable oppressive aura emanated from it. Scattered spaceships, demon hunters, mechanical guards, and slave monsters swarmed around the Seventh Ring Holy Tower like ants, moving about for their own purposes.

With a "click," the Spy Starfall hatch opened, and Green flew out with Little Eight on his shoulder.

Sensing the original will of Grimm's wizarding world, the surrounding mechanical guards and slave monsters hurriedly maintained the rules of order and widened a path for Grimm.

Green stood unimpeded on one of the giant mechanical arms of the Seven Rings Tower.

As the robotic arm moved, with a "pop," Green seemed to be sent into the body of a giant creature that was a mixture of flesh, metal, and energy.

With bright sunshine, a square paved with clean, neat white bricks, and wizards coming and going, the interior of the Seven Rings Holy Tower is clearly a completely new world.

Green stopped a group of mechanical puppet guards who were coming and going.

The mechanical eye emitted a pale green light, scanning Green and quickly gathering some information. The leader of the mechanical puppets said stiffly, "Respected Demon Hunter Wizard, is there anything I can help you with?"

"I am looking for a witch apprentice named Vivian, who was assigned here after the last Seven Rings Holy Tower Qualifying Tournament."

The mechanical puppet paused for a moment and said, "Please follow me to the personnel registration department."

Green nodded and said calmly, "Mm."

The interior space of the Seven Rings Tower was larger than Green had imagined. As the world's heart in the Seven Rings world, this vast space must have been expanded by the Seven Rings True Spirit Wizards through the evolution of internal rules.

A little over half an hourglass later, in a quiet place with only a few wizards, Green found Vivian's message. A gray-feathered woodpecker handed Green a scroll in its beak.

"Huh? Looks like the chances aren't great."

Xiao Ba shook his head upon seeing the contents of the scroll.

"Haven't you become a full-fledged wizard yet...?"

Green, who had opened the reel, slowly closed it again with a sigh of regret.

I wonder if Vivian's failure to advance to a formal wizard is related to the physique-enhancing potion I gave her when I first sent her into the Seven Rings Holy Tower.

However, such a mistake could not be undone.

After nodding to the few wizards who were leisurely drinking tea, Green left the Seventh Ring Holy Tower's personnel department and headed towards the location indicated on the scroll, a level three archmage named Gules's Demon Hunter Castle.

The Seven Rings Tower is generally inhabited by Level 3 Demon Hunter Wizards and elite wizards who have been absorbed by several top wizarding organizations, such as the Demon Hunter Chronicles whom Grimm once turned down.

A creature resembling a caterpillar, a hybrid of flesh and machinery, was a hundred meters long. It carried one demon hunter after another as it sped through the Seventh Ring Holy Tower Plaza. After Grimm threw some energy crystals into the giant caterpillar's mouth, he was also allowed to ride on.

"Hehe, young master, this creature that's a hybrid of machine and flesh is quite interesting."

Little Eight flew down from Green's shoulder and stood on the hundred-meter-long giant caterpillar, extremely excited.

Each of this giant caterpillar's legs is made of metal, allowing it to move at a considerable speed without any bumps.

"Um."

When Green last came to the Seventh Ring Tower, he accidentally "poisoned" Vivian, so he didn't study the knowledge of this mixture of flesh, metal, and energy in detail. This time, however, it is worth studying it carefully.

Green looked at a level three archmage next to him who was also riding a giant caterpillar.

His white beard was wavy and fell to his chest. He wore a tall, pointed black wizard's hat and carried an old wooden magic wand with tender green shoots growing on it at his waist.

Naturally, the level three archmage also looked at Green.

After bowing to the Level 3 Demon Hunter Wizard, Green respectfully asked, "Master, if I wish to learn the knowledge of synthesizing such mechanical flesh and blood creatures, where can I learn this knowledge through a knowledge exchange?"

"Hehe, is this your first time at the Seven Rings Holy Tower?"

The old wizard was a relatively kind and wise wizard, whose eyes, slits formed by wrinkles in their sockets, shone with a light of wisdom.

"This is a new knowledge system developed by a seventh-circle True Spirit Wizard. It is said to be lost knowledge from the ancient civilization of this world cluster. After being obtained by the seventh-circle True Spirit Wizard, it was developed on a large scale to suit wizards. With your first-level Demon Hunter Honor Badge, you can simply join any wizarding organization and move into the Holy Tower to acquire knowledge of synthetic creatures by paying the price of wizard essence."

After saying that, the old wizard added, "Of course, this is just the knowledge of the rules. To actually use the corresponding magic, you still need to develop it independently, and the price of knowledge is not low."

The other party's enthusiasm made Green smile: "Thank you, Master."

"Hehehe, could I buy one of these specimens to take home?"

Xiao Ba asked quietly, her tone full of anticipation.

The old wizard shook his head and chuckled, "The Seventh Ring Holy Tower doesn't offer that service. Perhaps you could try with those wizards who research this kind of metallic flesh-and-blood synthetic life form."

……

After landing on the giant caterpillar, Green and Little Eight flew for a while before finally finding the Gules Demon Hunter Castle marked on the scroll.

As a visiting, unfamiliar wizard, Green arrived at the Demon Hunter Castle and gently knocked on the door.

Boom!Boom!Boom!

Footsteps sounded inside the castle.

A moment later, with a creak, an elderly witch apprentice opened the castle gate. She was about to say something, but she froze the moment she saw the Grimm mask and the little eight on the shoulder.

"Third...Third Senior Brother? Eighth Rainbow Vichy!"

Vivian stared blankly at Green, her eyes filled with a mixture of surprise and shame, ashamed that she was still a wizard apprentice.

It had been a long time since they last met. For Vivian, the time it took for Green to go on a demon-hunting expedition was half a lifetime. This was the difference in their life levels.

"Vivian!"

Little Ba happily landed on Vivian's shoulder.

"Junior sister."

Green's voice was filled with guilt as he looked at the witch apprentice whose face was much older than his own.

Vivian's life was nearing its end; Green could sense through her soul that she had at most ten years left to live.

Vivian has no hope of becoming a full-fledged wizard.

"Third Senior Brother, come in quickly. This is the Demon Hunter's Castle of the Great Wizard Gules. The master is very kind and taught me a lot of wizarding knowledge. By the way, Senior Brother, how is Instructor Peranos?"

Vivian outwardly suppressed her shame and did not blame Green for his "poisoning" of her. Instead, she blamed her lack of wizarding wisdom for failing to become a formal wizard.

Green followed Vivian into the Demon Hunter's Castle.

"I haven't seen my mentor yet. This demon-hunting expedition was quite complicated, and some unexpected things happened. I just returned to the wizarding world and came to see you."

A moment later, a sprightly old wizard, only about 1.5 meters tall, appeared.

Green read regret in his eyes for Vivian, to which Green could only manage a forced smile, as if recalling Raffi from the depths of his memory.

Green looked at Vivian, who was introducing herself to Gules.

Let's not waste the last moments of her life in this closed world; let her go and enjoy the beautiful and vast wizarding world.
