Chapter 167 Extraterrestrial Civilization Is Too Much of a Waiter for Death

[Outside the vast universe, cosmic life forms are in an expansion phase.]

A stable binary star system, on a small hillside on the habitable planet in the fifth orbit.

Two arthropods that look remarkably like lobsters are fiddling with various things under the tranquil night sky.

Some are related to astronomy, such as star observation instruments and star distance measuring instruments.

There are also things unrelated to astronomy, such as a huge circular array in an open space, or small towers made of stones evenly distributed on the circular array.

One of the arthropods complained, "Lena, this won't work."

"Let's go back, we have an exam tomorrow."

The arthropod called Lena said nonchalantly, "What's there to be afraid of? We can just copy from the person next to us. It's just a test anyway."

"Cheating is not a good thing," the arthropod said.

Lena, while repeatedly observing the distances between the stars using a star distance measuring instrument, said, "Boone, have you ever heard the saying? 'As long as you don't get caught, it's not cheating; it's called skillfully utilizing external conditions…' Got it!"

"All done?" Boone paused, glancing at the massive circular array they had set up on the open ground, and asked uncertainly, "This thing... can really summon aliens?"

As a staunch materialist, Boone felt this was outrageous.

He could hardly believe that a summoning circle made of lime powder and some stones could summon aliens from the universe.

That's impossible, isn't it?

Clena, however, thought this would work, so Boone was dragged to this little hillside to stay up all night.

That's what the ancient books say.

"Once the stars are in the correct positions, the correct pattern is arranged, the correct ceremony is held, and the correct prayers are recited devoutly, an avatar of Lord Kagans, located 800,000 light-years away from our home planet, will descend," Lena said excitedly to Boone. She was very thrilled.

Because their summoning ritual will be completed soon.

"This looks like some kind of superstitious religious belief. Why would you believe in this, Lena?" Boone asked, puzzled.

Lena made final adjustments to the layout of the circular array, then tossed the ritual book to Boone, saying, "Stop talking nonsense and cooperate with me to perform the ritual. This is the best time to perform the ritual."

……

Beyond the vast universe, cosmic beings completed their assimilation into it and began analyzing its physical rules.

It has been more than a month since the summoning ceremony.

For the past month or so, Boone has been staying up all night. If it weren't for the fact that he and Lena are childhood best friends, he probably would have ignored Lena's unreasonable demands long ago.

"Lena, shall we go back?" Boone said.

"Go back yourself if you want," Lena replied to Boone while looking at the stargazing instrument.

Boone was reluctant to leave Lena alone outside at night, so he advised, "But we've waited so many days. If Lord Kaguns's avatar were truly going to descend, it would have done so long ago."

Boone presented the facts and reasoned with her, but Lena seemed to ignore him, staring motionlessly at the stargazing instrument.

Seeing that Lena didn't react, Boone said, "Lena? Are you even listening to me, Lena?"

"Quiet, I see something here," Lena said.

Boone, already used to this, yawned. "Yawn... most likely some kind of bug crawled onto the lens of the observer again..."

Clara denied it, saying, "No! That thing is magnifying! Something from space is coming!"

"At this rate, we'll be able to see it directly in a little while!"

As she spoke, Lena looked away from the stargazing device and gazed at the stars in the night sky with a mixture of shock and joy.

"How...how...could this be?"

Boone, who had initially been skeptical, looked up at the sky and began to stammer.

The stars in the night sky were obscured by a huge ball of light, as if the entire sky was the sole ruler.

Upon closer inspection of the center of the ball of light, there was a crystal-like object. At first, it was not clearly visible, but as the ball of light magnified, Boone could see what was at the center.

"Good heavens! What is that thing?!" Boone cried out in panic as he tried to be overturned.

Lena, ecstatic, hugged him tightly, exclaiming, "We did it! Don't you understand? Our ritual was a success! An avatar of Lord Kaguns has truly descended upon our planet from 800,000 light-years away!"

Boone stared blankly and said, "That...that really is an avatar of Lord Kaguns?"

"Absolutely right!" Lena said confidently.

……

[Outside the vast universe, cosmic beings reside within it and have completed the analysis of some of the universe's physical rules.]

The Bainas are amphibious creatures that live near the planet's coastline.

Therefore, they have their own cities both on the sea and on land.

The ancient Bainas people, like humans, fantasized about aliens visiting their home planet Kaya one day, and there are many films and television works depicting successful resistance against alien invasion.

But fantasy is just fantasy. When the alien spaceship actually arrived over Kaya, panic quickly spread throughout the Bainas civilization.

Two months before the alien spaceship's arrival, Lena and Boone finally contacted the administration and recounted everything that had happened on the hillside.

"You're saying that this is all the work of that Gargan-something?" the operator at the administration office asked.

"Yes, I was there when the summoning ritual was performed, so..."

Before Lena could finish speaking, the operator impatiently replied, "I don't want to hear any ceremonies or stories. Just register it simply. Governments around the world have received no fewer than 70 billion such reports. The government is already very busy. Please don't add to their burden, okay?"

"..."

Lena and Boone remained silent.

The Bainas civilization has never lacked people who pursue fame and fortune. After witnessing the arrival of aliens, there are always people who claim that they should take full responsibility for the arrival of aliens.

Upon learning this, Lena was immediately furious.

Whether it was a summoning or a standoff lasting dozens of days, they were the ones who summoned the aliens, yet the final result was one she couldn't accept...

Lena angrily exclaimed, "Damn it! They actually said we were causing trouble! And those liars! That's just too much!"

"It's understandable that they would say that..." Boone said.

Lena retorted angrily, "Huh? What do you mean by 'excusable'? You participated in our summoning rituals these past few nights! The aliens came here precisely because of our summoning rituals!"

With that, Lena turned and left.

Seeing this, Boone gave chase. "Lena, where are you going?"

Lena said, "Let's find the evidence! Don't they not believe us? Aren't those liars deceiving everyone? Then let's find irrefutable evidence to prove that the aliens came to our home planet because of our ritual!"

……

Beyond the universe, cosmic beings are stably attached to the larger universe. They have already analyzed more than half of the underlying physical rules of this universe and are currently familiarizing themselves with the particle physics characteristics of this universe.

The alien spaceship, resembling crystal, hovered quietly in orbit around the home planet of the Bainas.

However, its interior is not as quiet as its exterior.

"The rate of change of the spacetime constant has reached 5.7432%, and it is still in a period of steady increase..."

"The spatial entropy of this region is three orders of magnitude greater than the normal spatiotemporal entropy, and it has not yet reached a steady-state equilibrium..."

"The current projections of the rate of change do not yet demonstrate any regularity, and more spatiotemporal parameters need to be collected..."

"Analyzing the changing nodes, attempting to summarize patterns..."

The Radisseria civilization is a Gestalt-type civilization that has mastered faster-than-light travel, located 8.4 light-years away from the Bainus civilization.

Not long ago, the Radisseria civilization discovered that the spacetime environment had suddenly undergone unusual changes, and these changes were spreading throughout the universe at faster-than-light speed.

Therefore, they urgently dispatched scientific research spacecraft to the region where the spacetime changes first appeared, namely the mother star system of the Bainas civilization, to investigate the specific situation.

"As expected, someone is influencing spacetime. Only life could achieve such an unusual rate of entropy increase..."

"With the impact confirmed as a living organism, civilization should promptly prepare for its continuation and for war..."

"But where are they hiding? That's the question..."

"Their target is the entire universe; we must find them as soon as possible..."

"The results of the investigation should be reported to the Pan-Galaxy Alliance; we can't rely solely on our Radisserus civilization to fight this battle..."

……

After a series of discussions, the Radiscus thought entities inside the research spaceship finally turned their attention to the Bainas.

"What should we do with those indigenous creatures?"

"The Pan-Galaxy Consortium's biological protection regulations clearly stipulate that high-tech civilizations within the consortium have an obligation to provide opportunities for the continuation of low-tech civilizations."

"If a large-scale space war were to break out, it would be catastrophic no matter where we hide. This is not a disaster in the ordinary sense; it is a disaster for living beings."

"This is where we need to use our inner power."

One group of thinkers proposed that civilization should be protected, while another group explicitly opposed such protection.

The protection afforded to the Bainas civilization was not because the thought entities of the Radiscus civilization were particularly compassionate, but simply because, as members of the Pan-Galaxy Alliance, they were obligated to abide by the rules and regulations of the Pan-Galaxy Alliance.

Those opposing ideas do so because they believe that the microcosm is needed for protection.

The microcosm is a very important resource for the Radix civilization. Using the microcosm to protect the indigenous civilization of Bainas is something that many of the Radix civilization's thought entities cannot accept.

Because in their view, this is pure waste.

Unsurprisingly, the discussion turned in favor of the opposing side.

"I object. Every microcosm is a precious resource of civilization. I cannot tolerate it being wasted like this. It is not worth investing a microcosm in a mere indigenous civilization."

"These are extraordinary times, and the Biodiversity Conservation Act is not applicable during this period. We have the right to handle the issues between us and the indigenous communities ourselves."

"Agreed."

……

Beyond the universe, cosmic beings, dwelling on the outer edge of the larger universe, have finally completed their analysis of the underlying physical rules of that universe, and have also gained a basic understanding of the rules of elementary particle physics within it.

"The initial survey has been completed, and we are ready to seize control of the target universe at any time according to the original plan," the cosmic beings reported to Lu Shang.

Lu Shang issued the order: "Then launch the invasion directly and seize control of this universe. I don't like waiting."

"OK."

As the cosmic beings began to take action, Lu Shang's anxiety subsided. So far, everything had gone smoothly, and no cosmic civilization had been seen to escape beyond the universe or use wormholes to invade the interiors of the cosmic beings and prevent their invasion.

Lu Shang was a little confused about what the civilizations in this universe were dawdling about. If it were him, he would have been restless long ago.

The die is cast—the swarm is waiting for the physical rules to be analyzed, so what are you, the civilization of this universe, waiting for?

Oh, you civilizations are just waiting to die.
