Chapter 169 These Civilizations Were Too Late

On Lu Shang's side, a report was received from the planetary beings.

"Confirmed, we have destroyed another space force of an unknown civilization."

As the research into the fundamental physics of this universe progresses, the first thing the swarm gains is a 'view' of that universe.

Because of the different rules, from a normal perspective, the swarm of bees sees all matter in the universe as dark matter, meaning they can't see anything. They can only determine the distribution of matter in spacetime through the gravity manifested by the curvature of spacetime caused by mass.

Any more specific wouldn't work.

However, as the bee colony's research into the fundamental physics of the universe deepened, it found a way to interact with the matter particles in this universe. Thus, the bee colony was able to read the physical information of this universe, that is, gain a 'vision'.

Once they gained visibility, the first thing the swarm did was attack a spaceship.

Why attack someone when there's no enmity between you?

That would naturally be to study the physical laws of the universe more quickly. A spaceship that can move in space already possesses a certain level of technological sophistication. During an attack and crash, the life forms inside the spaceship would certainly try to operate it to the maximum extent possible to ensure a smooth landing.

This behavior stems from the survival instinct of living organisms, and at a deeper level, it comes from the instinctive resistance of low-entropy organisms to the increase of entropy.

Thus, the swarm of bees can take this opportunity to learn how spaceships in this universe operate.

Understanding these things allows us to roughly know a lot about the macroscopic and even microscopic physical information of the universe.

The swarm attack on the ships wasn't limited to Kaya's ship; it involved numerous randomly selected ships from across the universe, with the aim of gathering as much information as possible.

Lu Shang replied to his companion: "Study the corpses, understand their biological attributes, and then upload the information back to the swarm network."

At this moment, another cosmic being reported: "I just did a quick investigation, and it seems that the spaceship crashed on a celestial body with a rich ecosystem."

Celestial bodies with rich ecosystems, that is, planets with life, are very likely to harbor a complete civilization.

The swarm now needs to distinguish between ordinary life forms and civilizations composed of intelligent life from the vast amount of matter in the universe.

This news is undoubtedly excellent news!

Lu Shang ordered, "The bee swarm is currently lacking sufficient research material on life forms. Immediately begin research on all life forms on this planet."

"OK."

Meanwhile, the Radiscus civilization, located 8.4 light-years away from the Bainas civilization, received a large number of reports of spaceship damage from various locations across the galaxy.

It caused a shock throughout the entire civilization.

Apart from the Radisseria civilization, civilizations throughout the entire galaxy have experienced spaceship damage to varying degrees.

Even the unified civilizations of the Pan-Galaxy Alliance, which had already colonized extraterrestrial galaxies, were not spared.

According to the analysis of the higher-ups of the Radisseria civilization, this is very likely an unknown attack that will affect the entire universe.

As for the significance of this strike, it could be to test weapons, or it could be to learn about their technology by destroying their ships; in short, there are many possibilities.

But one thing they were certain of was that the hidden, unknown civilization harbored immense malice towards the entire Pan-Galaxy Alliance.

Therefore, the collection of war information became urgent, because a space war was about to begin.

The current situation is dire. Their Radiscus civilization, and even the entire Pan-Galaxy Alliance, has virtually no intelligence on the enemy.

Besides knowing that such an enemy exists, they know nothing about its exact location, what type of civilization it is, or what level of technological development it has reached.

Such a poor intelligence disadvantage would prevent the entire Pan-Galaxy Alliance civilization from attacking this unknown hostile civilization from the very beginning.

Various civilizations began to send out numerous scouts across the galaxy. The scouts went to the areas where the swarm first began to affect spacetime, as well as the places where those spaceships crashed.

These alien civilizations believed that the location where the enemy first affected would inevitably leave some kind of clue.

The purpose of going to the crash site was to investigate what type of attack the enemy used to destroy the spaceship.

The Bainas, who have lived on their home planet Kaya for generations, are completely unaware of all these changes in the universe. They are still grateful that the alien spaceship that came to investigate the anomalies in spacetime crashed.

They were thankful that the enemy hadn't attacked them before they were all killed; they were thankful that they could try to reverse engineer the technology from the wreckage; and they were thankful that they no longer had to suffer a mental breakdown due to an endless chain of suspicion.

Ignorance brought them pleasure. They didn't realize that from the moment the spaceship crashed, they had fallen from a small vortex into a much larger quagmire from which they could never extricate themselves.

All the Bainas people slept soundly on the day their spaceship crashed, dreaming of how they reverse-engineered alien technology, embarked on a journey through the universe, and wreaked havoc across the galaxy.

……

Over the next year, the Bainas were alarmed to discover a variety of alien spaceships appearing in their home planet system.

However, these alien spaceships did not stay for long as before. Instead, they stayed a few days away from their home planet Kaya, about one or two light-seconds away, before leaving on their own. This relieved the people of Bainas, who were anxious and worried that alien civilizations would come after them because of the spaceship crash.

Meanwhile, many people with superpowers have emerged in Bainas society.

They are superpowered individuals in the literal sense, possessing all sorts of extraordinary abilities, such as controlling wind, fire, water, and even the minds of their own kind.

Some Bainas believe that this change is due to the mysterious power of the crashed alien spaceship, which granted them superpowers.

Some believe that the visiting alien spaceships brought about this change in the Bainas people.

As for the specific purpose of these aliens doing this, the people of Bainas have never been able to find a reasonable explanation.

After all, there's no reason why aliens wouldn't use such an awesome ability as superpowers themselves, but instead leave it for the Bainas people who haven't even left their home planet Kaya.

However, no matter what, the social structure of the Bainas people underwent tremendous changes.

In traditional social structures, the minority must submit to the majority because the majority can physically force the minority to submit.

If a minority wants the majority to obey, they can only do so through deception, misleading, reasoning, creating division and conflict, and so on.

But now, there's no need to do that anymore, because there are superpowers, and not everyone has superpowers.

This means that the power of an individual is multiplied, even exceeding the power of a group.

When an individual can overwhelm a group, the individual can directly use physical means to make the majority submit to him.

Thus, on Kaya, the home planet of the Bainas, coups began to occur in one country after another, and the social structure began to tend towards an autocratic monarchy rather than a democracy.

When individual desires override collective desires and allow individuals to act arbitrarily, the law loses its authority once it lacks sufficient force to protect it.

Crime, war, evil deeds, and other disgusting phenomena are constantly emerging. This is an inevitable process of transitioning from an excited state to a ground state, a change in physics.

The Bainas government has considered either granting superpowers to everyone or eliminating them by studying the mysteries of superpowers.

But no matter how much research is done, no one can say for sure what the root of superpowers is, and all the results point to idealism.

However, due to idealism, the Bainas civilization could not utilize this kind of thing.

What is idealism?

Simply put, it means "what you wish for comes true." For example, if someone thinks that the sky should be dark, then the sky becomes dark; or if someone feels hungry and thinks that there should be food in front of them, then food appears in front of them.

Simply thinking bypasses the process and directly yields the desired result; this is idealism.

After the social changes in the Bainas, what ultimately remained were two social systems where the strong were respected.

The first type is where the strong rule everything, but with great power comes great responsibility, so the strong must restrain their use of power and not let it affect ordinary Bainas people who do not have superpowers.

The second scenario is that the strong rule everything and can do whatever they want. However, the strong must protect the Bainas who are willing to accept their arbitrariness, because if everyone dies, there will be no one left to allow them to do whatever they want.

The culprit behind all of this was the Babel bee swarm that secretly observed these Bainas people.

"The research on biological compatibility is progressing even more smoothly than I imagined," said a cosmic being.

"Thanks to the cooperation of these life forms, we have been able to learn so much physical information so quickly, and we are now able to distinguish between ordinary life forms and civilizations composed of intelligent life forms. The number of targets we need to guard against has been greatly reduced."

Another cosmic being has set its sights on the entire universe, which has now become a powder keg, with various civilizations frantically searching for unknown enemies.

"We have detected many alien civilizations that are actively preparing for war, but strangely, they do not seem to have a unified communication mechanism. How can they be so in sync?" the alien creature wondered.

Other extraterrestrial beings speculated: "It must be that the destruction of the spaceship earlier made all civilizations in the universe feel a sense of crisis."

"There's no need to worry about that. The die is cast, and no matter how much they struggle, they absolutely cannot stop the swarm from gaining dominion over this vast universe."

Beyond the universe, cosmic beings, covering the outer membrane of the vast universe, twist parts of themselves into sharp filaments and then plunge into the universe.

These fine threads resemble the intricate root systems of a plant, winding and twisting through the universe.

They continue to extend at a speed faster than light. When these roots of cosmic life completely spread throughout the entire universe, the swarm will gain absolute dominion over this universe.

At that point, it would be meaningless for any civilization in this universe to prepare for war.

After all, the entire universe has become the property of the swarm. What can these civilizations do besides hide in their own universes or escape through wormholes?

There's nothing we can do!
