Chapter 264 Magic is Real
Chapter 264 Magic is Real
Magic is real.
This conclusion, which seems almost absurd to Earthlings, is a consensus among many intergalactic civilizations in the Mother Nest Universe.
Otherwise, there is no way to explain how a vague incantation can distort spacetime, change the laws of nature, and exhibit all sorts of amazing physical phenomena.
The swarm suffered a drastic change, plunging the mother universe into chaos. Significant time differences began to appear across the entire universe. In this chaotic spacetime, the vast amount of matter, coupled with the amplified probability due to the long passage of time, gave rise to numerous civilizations.
Most of these civilizations perished over time. Some were just beginning to develop their wisdom, learning to use simple chemistry to make basic tools, when they were swept into the dustbin of the history of the Mother Nest universe by a sudden natural disaster.
However, many civilizations still successfully developed to the point where they were able to perform primitive rituals and worship gods.
Civilizations at this stage may not have written language yet, or their cultural concepts may be extremely vague, but one thing is common: the priests are very mystical and always like to chant or compose inexplicable incantations.
Perhaps among these priests there are big swindlers who use fictitious divine authority to control human rights, and there are also believers who truly believe in the existence of gods and have devout faith, but in terms of behavior, they are all the same.
Among these nonsensical and haphazardly made-up spells, some civilizations inadvertently discovered some special spells, such as "Land Entropy," "Bee Swarm," and "Tower of Babel."
By incorporating these incantations into prayers, one can move mountains and overturn seas, change the world, and reverse the universe. If one wants to go to a neighboring galaxy of one's home galaxy, one can simply make a wish using an incantation.
This terrifying power of the spell instantly elevated many primitive civilizations that were still at the tribal stage to an intergalactic level.
Of course, those civilizations that cannot be controlled, no matter how advanced their technology, will also be quickly destroyed by the curse.
For example, there are those deranged, antisocial lunatics within a civilization who use spells to pray for the destruction of their mother civilization.
Whether due to external or internal factors, after discovering the terrifying power of the spell, a large number of these intergalactic civilizations that had developed rapidly perished in a short period of time.
Those intergalactic civilizations that had not yet perished, in a state of panic, immediately carried out highly centralized reforms within their own civilizations to minimize the possibility of destruction caused by internal factors, while severing all ties with other civilizations to minimize the possibility of destruction caused by external factors.
Thus, the earliest intergalactic civilizations in the Mother Nest Universe entered a dormant era, and dared not use spell power lightly for fear of causing a backlash.
But civilizations always move forward. Civilizations that stagnate are destined to be worn away by time. As a result, some civilizations embarked on the path of technological development, while those that stagnated or went astray disappeared one by one in peace.
Just like a sieve sifting out finer sand from the gaps, under the erosion of long time, large and small cosmic wars broke out. The remaining intergalactic civilizations in the Mother Nest universe are all civilizations that have mastered spells and embarked on the path of technological development.
However, even though physics has delved into the quantum realm, these intergalactic civilizations that are constantly developing technology are no longer as ignorant as they were in the primitive worship stage, attributing everything to gods. Yet they still cannot explain where the terrifying power of the spells comes from, as if the spells can only be attributed to gods.
At the same time, spells remain the most powerful weapon and shield for these intergalactic civilizations, a force they absolutely cannot give up.
Therefore, among these intergalactic civilizations, there are two trees: one called the "Technology Tree" and the other called the "Magic Tree".
The technology tree is based on traditional physics, and it continuously develops and expands through experiments, observations, calculations, and other means.
The Magic Tree has grown and expanded through accumulated experience, through spellcasters' idle time to create and recite new spells, and through layers of logically consistent worldviews from scholars in the field.
The Klotis Complex is a typical intergalactic civilization within the Mother Nest Universe, divided into a scientific side and a magical side.
Recently, scientists have discovered unidentified particles active in space and, through some quantum collapse experiments, have determined that these particles are a detection method used by an unknown civilization.
So, after reversing some microscopic wormholes and defining a general area within the universe, they launched a spell attack on that area.
At the subsequent meeting, the chief administrator of the Klotis Complex asked, "Were the Spypers eliminated?"
The magic officer on the magic side replied arrogantly, "It has definitely been destroyed. The power of the spell is irresistible. If there is a problem, it can only be that the side that provided the information has a problem."
As he finished speaking, the magician glanced meaningfully at the science officer opposite him.
Clearly, the implication behind this statement is that if there were any problems with the outcome of the strike, it was because the intelligence from the science officer's side was flawed.
The science officer, naturally not a pathetic creature to be manipulated, scoffed, "An irresistible spell, yet we, the scientific side, still have to rely on our technology to detect someone secretly spying on our mother civilization?"
"Science officer, watch your tone of voice. This is a formal meeting."
When someone pointed out his sore spot, the magician's expression didn't look good. Although spells can accomplish various things at low or zero cost, they are not as good as technology in certain matters.
For example, in this spying incident, the magical side was completely unaware that the mother civilization was being spied on; it was the scientific side that discovered it first.
The science officer said, "Don't get excited. What I mean is that the power of spells has its limits. Magic is not perfect, so there are likely still some that have slipped through the net."
"Hmph, the arrogance of the scientific side. It seems our science officer can already explain the existence of the spell." The magic officer looked at the science officer with sarcasm.
Science Officer: "..."
This has been a long-standing pain point for the scientific community. Science is a tool for explaining the world, but magic and spells are the only things they can't explain.
How can we explain how spacetime spontaneously distorts and reacts to a radio signal, exhibiting various physical phenomena? It even involves a degree of entropy reversal.
This is clearly magical; the conservation of mass-energy has been overturned.
Seeing the science officer's reaction, the magician said sarcastically, "It seems not. You scientists always try to confine spells to the realm of human understanding, but after so many years of scientific development, have you succeeded? No."
"Science is science, and magic is magic. This is a universally acknowledged fact. The power of magic comes from God, and the power of God is naturally perfect and flawless. Why can't you understand this?"
Seeing that the meeting was turning into a seminar, the chief executive officer interrupted their argument.
"Alright, let's leave the controversial topics for another place; this is a formal meeting."
Seeing that both sides were quiet, the chief governor continued, "Even if the incantation has destroyed the spy, the spy's purpose still needs to be investigated. Did they want to do it themselves, or were they instructed to do it?"
"Furthermore, judging from the report submitted by the science officer, the other side's technology seems to be superior to that of the mother civilization. If we can find the remains of the spy, it may greatly improve the technology of the mother civilization."
"This is for the future of our mother civilization. I hope you can put aside your differences and work together."
