As soon as Shen Zhiyi straightened up, she was stunned by the building in front of her.

This is a European-style castle manor with pointed roofs, arched gates, and stone walls covered with vines. In the twilight, it appears before Shen Zhiyi as if from a fairy tale.

As soon as I got out of the car, a waiter in uniform came to greet me.

"Mr. Lu, Ms. Shen, you've arrived."

A waiter stepped forward and directed them: "The costume stylist and makeup artist are already on the second floor. Let's just go there."

Lu Zichuan gave a faint "hmm" and went up to the second floor first.

Shen Zhiyi silently followed beside him. When they went upstairs, Lu Zichuan naturally helped her up.

Afraid that Pei Jin would see, Shen Zhiyi moved aside, but her foot stepped on an uneven stone, causing her to sway slightly. Startled, she quickly grabbed the handrail, but Lu Zichuan was faster and caught her waist. His movements were quick and steady, and after making sure she was alright, he quickly let go and said, "Be careful."

His palms were warm, the warmth seeping through the thin fabric. Shen Zhiyi's ears burned, and she quickly steadied herself, taking a half-step back, and whispered, "Thank you."

Once on the second floor, Lu Zichuan led her through a long corridor, finally stopping in front of a carved wooden door.

"Come in." He stepped aside, his gaze falling on her. "This is my private styling room. It has everything you need. The stylist and clothes are all ready."

Shen Zhiyi nodded, and Lu Zichuan turned and went into a room next door.

Shen Zhiyi looked at the obviously luxurious door, took a deep breath, pushed the door open and entered, then froze on the spot.

A wine-red long dress hung on a clothes rack in the center of the room.

It wasn't a gaudy bright red, but a deep red like aged wine. The velvet fabric shimmered softly under the light, and the skirt flared out in layers from the waist, like a rose about to bloom.

On the mannequin next to her were matching accessories: a diamond necklace with a teardrop-shaped pink diamond pendant, small but exquisite; a pair of matching earrings; and a clutch bag made of the same material as the dress.

"Miss Shen?"

A gentle female voice came from behind me.

Shen Zhiyi turned around and saw a woman in her forties, dressed in a black business suit, smiling at her.

Two young makeup artists and hairstylists stood behind her, all of whom politely stood up.

"I'm Lin, the stylist Mr. Lu specially invited for you. Mr. Lu said you don't need to prepare anything; just leave it to us."

Shen Zhiyi opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but found that she had no idea what to say.

She had never attended a banquet of this caliber in her life, let alone been served in such a full-service manner.

In the past, when she and Hsu Che-sheng were going to attend events, she would just pick out a similar dress, do some simple makeup, and go.

Xu Zhesheng never bothered with such trivial matters. He always said that since she was already married, she didn't need to stand out too much and should just keep a low profile. Besides, outsiders had no idea about their relationship, so she only needed to show her face.

But now, Lu Zichuan has meticulously arranged her dress, makeup, hairstyle, and accessories.

She looked down at the business suit she was wearing, which she had bought from the discount section of the mall, and suddenly felt a little ashamed of herself.

"Ms. Shen?" Director Lin gently reminded her when she didn't move, "It's getting late, we need to hurry. Why don't you go change your clothes?"

Shen Zhiyi bit her lip, but finally walked up to the wine-red dress and gently touched the hem.

The fabric was as soft as water, sliding through her fingertips.

……

An hour and a half later.

Lu Zichuan sat in the reception area outside the lounge, holding a glass of whiskey in his hand, ice cubes gently clinking in the amber liquid.

He glanced at his watch; ninety minutes had passed.

Assistant Wang stood to the side, reporting something in a low voice. He listened half-heartedly, his gaze occasionally drifting towards the tightly closed door.

Suddenly, a soft footstep sound came from inside the door.

Lu Zichuan put down his wine glass and stood up.

The door was pushed open from the inside, and Director Lin came out first, nodding slightly to Lu Zichuan: "President Lu, it's done."

Lu Zichuan's gaze passed over her and landed on the doorway.

Then, he stopped breathing.

Shen Zhiyi stood there.

The burgundy velvet gown fit her figure perfectly, with an extremely narrow waistline that made her waist look incredibly slender. The design at the chest was simple yet elegant, perfectly showcasing her beautiful collarbone. The skirt flared out slightly below the knee, swaying like flowing water as she walked.

Her hair was styled into a low bun, with a few stray strands falling naturally beside her ears and softly brushing her cheeks.

Her makeup was very light, yet it complemented her temperament better than any heavy makeup. Her eyebrows were neatly shaped, and she used burgundy eyeshadow in the same color family as her dress, which was lightly blended into her eye sockets, making her already bright eyes look more profound. Her lip color was a gentle mauve, understated yet captivating.

The pink diamond necklace lay quietly between her collarbones, the teardrop-shaped pendant swaying gently with her breath, like a real heart.

She stood there, somewhat awkwardly clutching the edge of her handbag, her gaze flickering slightly when she saw Lu Zichuan, as if she hadn't expected him to be waiting outside in person.

"...Is it pretty?" she asked softly, her voice even softer than usual.

Lu Zichuan did not answer immediately.

He simply stood there, his gaze tracing her every inch.

From her updo to her slightly flushed earlobes, to her slender neck, to every elegant fold of her burgundy dress.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly.

"It looks good," he said.

His voice was a few decibels lower than usual, with a hoarseness that he himself was unaware of.

Shen Zhiyi felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and subconsciously glanced down at her dress: "Isn't it too... too formal? I don't usually wear this color."

"It's not formal at all." Lu Zichuan walked up to her, naturally extending his hand, palm up. "You're too beautiful; this dress doesn't suit you."

Shen Zhiyi was stunned for a moment, then looked up at him.

Lu Zichuan's gaze was serious, without any teasing or mockery, only an almost devout focus.

His outstretched hand hovered steadily in mid-air, as if waiting for her to make a decision.

She hesitated for a second, but finally placed her hand in his palm.

Lu Zichuan gently closed his fingers and held her hand in his palm.

His hands were large and warm, completely enveloping hers.

"Let's go," he said. "The dinner is about to begin."

He looked at her as if she were the most important person in the world, his gaze filled with undisguised tenderness. In that instant, Shen Zhiyi unconsciously recalled what he had said in the hospital room that day: that he had secretly loved her since college.
