Su Manman tightened her grip on the clothes, her ingratiating smile almost faltering. How could she possibly cook? When she was with Xu Zhesheng, they would either eat at upscale restaurants or order takeout. Although she used to tell Xu Zhesheng that she could cook for him in the future in order to impress him, wasn't that all just to build up her persona?

If you really ask her to cook, she'd struggle to even recognize the basics of oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar, let alone how to cut vegetables or how to combine them.

Xu Zhesheng's eyes were as cold as ice. She opened her mouth, but dared not disobey, and could only grit her teeth and move towards the kitchen.

Just then, Liu Tehui was in the kitchen, and she whispered to her, "Mom, could you cook dinner for me tonight? I'll help you."

Su Manman's voice immediately rose: "Are you crazy! You want two thousand to cook a meal?! You can hire someone outside for less than that!"

Liu Tehui crossed her arms: "You won't give it to me? Fine, then make it yourself!"

As she spoke, she picked up the baby bottle and headed out.

Su Manman turned her head and glanced at the seasonings she couldn't even distinguish, feeling her head spin. She quickly grabbed her mother's arm and said, "Okay, okay, two thousand it is."

She tapped Liu Tehui's profile picture on the screen, entered the number two thousand, and although it hurt a little, she still transferred the money.

Once she was sure the transfer had been received, Liu Tehui, as if afraid the woman would withdraw it, immediately clicked "receive payment," fed the baby with the bottle, and then rolled up her sleeves and went into the kitchen to cook.

But she cooks very wildly, basically throwing in whatever ingredients she has and then just adding a little salt.

Xu Zhesheng hadn't even gone into the kitchen yet; he merely watched the mother and daughter busy at work and sighed inwardly, thinking that at least his stay at their house hadn't been in vain.

He happily propped his head up with his hand on the sofa and leaned back to watch TV.

After a short while, the noise from the kitchen stopped.

Liu Tehui swaggered out carrying a plate, followed by Su Manman, who carried two bowls of soup with a strange smell, her face plastered with a fawning smile: "A-Zhe, the food's ready, come and try it!"

Xu Zhesheng, still with his hands behind his head, twisted his neck and sat up when he heard this.

Strangely, despite the mother and daughter working on it for so long, there was hardly any aroma of food in the living room.

The only thing that was pleasing to the eye was the rice cooked in the rice cooker; it was white and glistening.

Xu Zhesheng held back for a long time before he managed to suppress the urge to question.

Perhaps it's because cooking styles differ from place to place.

After all, Liu Tehui is quite old, and Su Manman had told him before that she could cook, so it's not like she couldn't even make a few simple dishes.

Even with these thoughts in mind, he still didn't know where to begin when he picked up the chopsticks.
