The First Killer God of the Tang Dynasty

Zhang Yang was not worried that Zhao Fuliang was cowardly and hiding his head.

In that case, at worst, we can just target him after the war.

However, if Zhao Fuliang is a traitor who has defected to the enemy, and the Black Flag Army is prepared, then things could get complicated.

At this moment, Wang Lie looked up at Zhang Yang and said.

"Brother, it's not that I'm afraid of fighting, it's just that I'm worried that bastard Zhao Fuliang has already defected to the enemy. If the Black Flag Army defectes, then we'll be at a disadvantage."

After thinking for a moment, Zhang Yang said directly.

"Don't worry, he must have defected to the enemy."

"He knows my military law: if you're cowardly and don't fight, you're dead. There's no reason for him to hide. So there's only one explanation: he defected to the enemy and betrayed his country."

Immediately afterwards, Zhang Yang shook his head.

"However, we cannot retreat. No matter how tough the Black Flag Army is, we must overcome it. Otherwise, if the rebels in Chang'an obtain supplies, they can hold out and the entire Tang army will be forced to fight siege battles. At that point, tens of thousands will be killed or wounded."

Zhang Yang's vision was never limited to a few bags of grain or a few military achievements.

He has a holistic view.

Why did the rebels have to fight the Tang army? It was because the food supplies in Chang'an were running out.

Now the emperor wants to capture the city quickly. If he attacks Chang'an, there will be no chance to turn the tide.

The brothers all looked at Zhang Yang, waiting for his next instructions.

After pondering for a moment, Zhang Yang walked directly through the crowd and arrived in front of the busy Longwu Army.

Seeing Zhang Yang approach, everyone put down their tools and looked at him.

"Brothers of the Dragon Martial Army, I have some bad news for you. It is highly likely that Zhao Fuliang, the centurion of the Dragon Martial Army, has already defected to the enemy."

These words caused an uproar in the room.

"How could this be? How could Commander Zhao do this!"

"Early this morning, I saw his confidants packing up their valuables, so this news is probably true."

"It's over. Zhao Fuliang has defected to the enemy. What hope do we Longwu Army have left?"

In an instant, a sense of fear of battle spread rapidly throughout the Dragon Martial Army.

Immediately following, Zhang Yang's deafening voice snapped everyone present to their feet.

"Brothers, from this moment on, I, Zhang Yang, officially take over the Longwu Army. I will definitely lead you to fight to the death against the enemy's supply convoy. Before that, I will give you a chance. Those who are afraid of death, afraid of fighting, afraid of the Black Flag Army, may leave now. I will not stop you. You may join the Shuofang Army or the Northwest Army if you wish."

Zhang Yang's voice suddenly became louder, and he spoke with a tone full of intimidation.

"However, if any of you damn fools follow Zhao Fuliang's example and betray your country to become a traitor, don't blame me, Zhang Yang, for my blade being ruthless!"

A cold glint appeared in the blade, and with a single stroke, it cleaved a nearby rock in two.

Whispers then broke out again among the Dragon Martial Army.

Just then, Yu Chixin, the leader of the Longwu Army, stepped forward.

He shouted at the Longwu Army, "Brothers, ever since we escaped from Chang'an, who has ever respected us? Who has ever treated us as soldiers? People call us cowards and pampered soldiers behind our backs, don't you know that?"

In an instant, the atmosphere became extremely oppressive, and all the Dragon Warriors lowered their heads.

"Now, the supervising officer is giving us a chance to redeem ourselves and start anew. Do you want to be treated like humans, or like dogs?!"

The long-suppressed emotions erupted within the Dragon Martial Army at this moment.

"We want to be human! We want to avenge ourselves!"

The sound was deafening, booming loudly.

In the end, only a few dozen cowards left the entire Dragon Martial Army.

Of course, after the battle, even if these people had broken their heads, Zhang Yang would never want them again.

"Yuchi Xin".

"Your subordinate is here."

"After the battle begins, you will temporarily take command of the Dragon Martial Army. Your eight hundred Dragon Martial Army soldiers will be behind our formation, waiting for the right moment to strike."

Upon hearing this, Yuchi Xin said with some dissatisfaction.

"Sir, do you look down on our Dragon Martial Army? Do you think we're all cowards who fear death?"

Yuchi Xin gritted his teeth, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.

Zhang Yang smiled faintly and patted Yuchi Xin on the shoulder.

"If I looked down on you, I would have disbanded you on the spot. Why would I have kept you here to fight the rebels? I made this arrangement so that you wouldn't disrupt the formation I had originally planned."

To win, we still need the same strategic approach as before.

Having a large number of people is useless.

Yuchi Xin thought for a moment, sighed, nodded, and cupped his hands in a respectful gesture.

"As you command, sir."

……

Just as the Black Flag Army was about to reach the territory of Guodu Town, a group of people appeared in front of them.

A shameful white flag is raised high.

Duan Hu, the leader of the Black Flag Army, glanced at it, a look of disdain appearing in his eyes.

With a wave of his hand, Zhao Fuliang led his more than a hundred soldiers over eagerly.

Zhao Fuliang, commander of the Longwu Army, paid his respects to General Duan Hu.

Duan Hu said with a contemptuous look, "The Dragon Martial Army? Aren't they the imperial guards of the Tang emperor? They've surrendered too. It seems the Tang dynasty's fate is truly nearing its end."

Zhao Fuliang said with an embarrassed expression.

"General Duan is right, the fate of the Tang Dynasty is indeed nearing its end. However, there is now an extra supervisor in the Dragon Martial Army. This man is quite intelligent. I came here specifically to tell General Duan that they are setting up defenses ahead, intending to launch a surprise attack on our Black Flag Army."

Upon hearing this, Duan Hu's expression faltered slightly, his eyes sharpening.

How many of them are there?

"He himself has more than a hundred men, and more than eight hundred Dragon Martial Army soldiers. But don't worry, sir. With my prestige in the army, I can definitely make most of the Dragon Martial Army defect in battle."

Duan Hu sneered.

"Defecting in the face of battle? In my eyes, your Longwu Army is nothing but a bunch of pigs and dogs waiting to be slaughtered. However, this is fine, it saves me a lot of trouble. You lead the way, and after we cripple them, we'll transport the supplies to Chang'an. I will definitely make sure General An Shouzhong gives you credit."

Zhao Fuliang immediately knelt down and kowtowed to express his gratitude.

"Thank you, General Duan."

"Get up, lead the way."

Zhao Fuliang glanced at the equipment of the Black Flag Army. They were all dressed in black armor and used heavy long-handled swords and horse-chopping swords. Their fierce killing intent was something that ordinary armies could not withstand.

So what if Zhang Yang is a great fighter?

This time, I am destined to die under the Black Flag Army's broadswords.

In other words, he knew how to assess the situation. Once he arrived in Chang'an, he might not just be a minor commander, but at least a general.

The Black Flag Army marched forward in a grand procession, completely disregarding Zhang Yang.

When Zhang Yang discovered that Zhao Fuliang had indeed defected to the enemy, he realized that hiding was no longer of any use.

Instead, he led his troops to stand opposite the Black Flag Army.

"They're here."
