Chapter 80 A Rare Experience
Chapter 81 A Rare Experience
The mounted police officers were stunned by what they saw.
The mounted police captain stood frozen in place, while the others held their lanterns in mid-air, their mounts neighing uneasily.
The enormous dragon lizard demon pressed down on the main building, its more than twenty-meter-long corpse spanning the entire courtyard, its tail sticking out, its scales gleaming eerily under the lamplight.
Grey's skeleton raven "Morigan," summoned by the source matter, has now turned to ashes, but they can still see an unusually large crater next to the dragon lizard demon's corpse—
Meanwhile, in the collapsed hallway, the enormous crocodile-man still stood upright, with countless roof tiles and broken beams falling from above and black, heavy swords piercing his body, yet he remained standing.
These rural mounted police officers, the most serious cases they've ever handled are nothing more than fights, horse thefts, or neighbors shooting at each other.
This is the first time I've seen a demon of this level, the first time I've seen such a powerful enemy!
They could never have imagined the scale of the fierce battle they had just witnessed; it was far more exaggerated than any conflict they had ever seen.
Those who participated in this battle must be incredibly terrifying and powerful!
"Move it!" Gray's furious shout interrupted their shock. "There are people buried below! Hurry!"
They suddenly realized what was happening and rushed over to clean up the mess.
First, they used batons and shovels, then tied ropes to the larger stones, and had the horses pull them backward. With everyone's efforts, the large stones and beams were finally moved from the ruins.
Gordon finally saw the moonlight outside, followed by a sliver of bright yellow lamplight.
"Is anyone inside?" the mounted police captain shouted.
"Yes, we are the ghosts of the manor," Gordon shouted.
"I'm really glad to see you so energetic." Gray and the others finished clearing away the remaining rubble, leaving only a few of the largest pieces of the building debris.
Just when the mounted police were at a loss, Gray approached, aimed at them, and used his arms to move the hundreds of pounds of building debris one by one.
The mounted police officers then put down their shovels; the Source Hunters truly lived up to their reputation.
Soon, Gray cleared a passage through the ruins, widening the gap to allow people to pass through.
Gordon gritted his teeth and got up, first putting Vera's arm around his shoulder, then supporting her and struggling to carry her out.
Even while unconscious, Vera's hand remained gripping Gordon's, showing no sign of letting go.
"Stretcher! Stretcher!" The mounted policeman unfolded a makeshift stretcher, and Gordon placed her on it.
"Oh my god————"
"Incredible—"
The lantern's light illuminated their injuries, and suppressed gasps of surprise rang out.
The rural mounted police checked it one last time.
The three of them killed countless wet-footed people, a giant crocodile monster, and a terrifying alien demon!
Warriors, absolute warriors.
It is because of people like these that the world has not completely descended into madness and bloodshed.
Gordon showed the RCMP captain his blood-stained trainee investigator badge.
"I am Gordon Vick of the Department of Paranormal Affairs, and now take my orders." He took a deep breath.
"You must be the famous Gordon!" the mounted policeman blurted out.
"Oh my god!"
"You have a date with the Fishing King!"
"No time for autographs. I need hot water, clean cloth, and a first-aid kit. Gray, do you have any medicine? Our supplies are trapped under the rubble," Gordon said quickly.
The mounted police officers chipped in, one by one, until they had gathered all the necessary items. The captain then produced a half-empty bottle of liquor, declaring that it was for disinfection, not irrefutable evidence of drinking while on duty.
Gray also donated a bottle of regeneration compound to Gordon.
Before the surgery, Gordon looked back into the distance.
"Two guard the entrances and exits. One goes to the radio station to inform Constable Shireen Paisley of the Lundenim Police Station that the leader, the Crocodile Man, is dead and that there are surviving cultists available for interrogation. The other goes to Golden Lion Avenue to inform the Monford family that we need more supplies, wagons, and reliable men. The rest go to guard the Wetfoot prisoners," he ordered.
The mounted police officers exchanged glances and quickly assigned tasks based on personalities, temperaments, and the speed of their horses before dispersing.
"Hoo—" Gray squatted on the ground to rest.
"You should also look under the ruins. Our supplies are there, in a big red metal box." Gordon pointed to the middle section of the collapsed main building.
"You must remember your Uncle Grey's kindness." Grey leaped over ten meters to search for the supplies Gordon had hidden beneath the ruins.
After Gordon had given Vera some initial treatment, Gray finally found the big red box Gordon had mentioned, which had been smashed and was now twisted and deformed.
"this?"
"right."
Gordon took out medical equipment and performed surgery on Vera.
He first checked Vera's breathing and chest and abdomen, then stopped the bleeding, and finally cleaned the wound, threading sterilized needles and thread through her skin and tightening the thread segment by segment.
Once Vera regained some of her nerve function, he gave her the life-saving ampoule.
She inhaled the faint breath from the ampoule; her breathing remained weak, but it no longer worsened.
"You're bleeding too." Gray saw Gordon trembling as he treated her.
"It doesn't matter. You don't look well either."
"No, that's not true." Gray smoothed his handsome hair.
He turned around and saw Gordon stitching up Vera's wound, then sitting on the floor and trying to stitch himself up.
He first drank a bottle of regeneration potion. With the support of the source substance, the circulation effect was enhanced, and the medicinal power was quickly released. Only then did he feel his body recover.
He had a very obvious diagonal scar on his right cheek, and blood stained his chin crimson.
He picked up the needle and pricked his skin.
pain!
A sharp pain pierced through my face; the threads of pain passed through, pulling and gathering the torn flesh, bringing even greater agony.
But Gordon gritted his teeth and stitched his face back up piece by piece.
Gray watched Gordon's actions and couldn't help but admire him.
Even someone accustomed to wounds would find it hard to imagine how much willpower Gordon had to stitch up his own face.
"So this really is—for the first time, for now." Gray sat on the ground. "Someone has taken the blame for the trouble I caused."
"What's the trouble?"
"Those who go on missions with me often die."
Gordon stopped what he was doing and stared at Gray for a long time.
Why didn't you say so earlier?
"You didn't ask."
"I need to stay away from you. I suddenly feel that exchanging attacks for appraisals is not worth it at all." Gordon took several steps back.
"Give me, Arthur Grey, some face!" Grey retorted. "It's not easy, I'm telling you, it's not easy at all."
"Stay away from me."
"No, I'm serious. You guys must be people with incredibly strong destinies. By following your Uncle Gray, we can participate in the Source Wars, many, many wars together." Gray seemed to have discovered the key to reversing the situation and sped over.
"Let me finish stitching up my own wound first. I feel like I'll bleed to death if you get too close." Gordon reached out to stop him.
Gray finally backed away.
He sat beneath the broken wall, placing the emotional killer on his lap, while two crows circled in the sky, watching the darkness warily.
The first time a full domain was unleashed, a large group of cultists were killed, and it clashed head-on with another domain. Gordon Vic and Vera Cartret were also a great help, and most importantly, they both breathed.
War, war, war, the war of the source matter.
The ambition within him, which had been extinguished by witnessing the deaths of too many comrades, slowly began to burn anew.
After some time, a white crow flew back from the road, cawing loudly.
"Here I am." Gray stood up.
Gao Deng held his breath and made a difficult journey to the door.
A procession of carriages sped up the hillside, led by two large carts and followed by a whole entourage of mounted guards.
There were twelve cars in total.
Gordon couldn't help but sigh, she probably brought everything she could.
Charlotte stepped down from the first carriage. She clearly had no time to prepare for a picnic-style trip, wearing only a dark black travel cloak over her pretty black dress, her blonde hair simply tied back. As soon as the carriage door opened, she stepped over the broken iron gate and followed the trail of blood into the carriage.
She didn't even glance at the enormous monsters or the horrific corpses. When she saw Gordon, she immediately walked over, looking at the wounds on his face with heartache, her eyes filled with surprise, worry, and a host of other complex emotions.
"Are you alright?" she asked softly.
"I'm disfigured," Gordon admitted.
"It's okay," Charlotte nodded. "You'll look handsome no matter what. Lundnim has excellent plastic surgeons, and if all else fails, I can afford to have a scarred face."
