From rejecting the beautiful female CEO to becoming extremely powerful
Chapter 207 Boss, your hair surrenders first.
It was already bright outside in Ye Zhiwei's room.
Lu Yunzhou opened his eyes, and felt a pulling sensation on his shoulder first.
He propped himself up on the edge of the bed and looked down at the bandages on his body.
The wound that reopened last night has been re-bandaged, wrapped very tightly, and the bloodstains have been cleaned up.
Ye Zhiwei was not by the bedside.
The door was ajar, and the sounds of pot lids clattering and water boiling could be heard from outside.
Lu Yunzhou picked up his phone from the bedside table; the screen displayed more than a dozen messages.
Some of them came from Yuanchuan, and some came from Su Qingwan.
He first opened the local news.
The news about Nanling Manor has made it onto the morning news, but the headline has been changed to be more conventional.
The Chu Group has been involved in a business dispute with an investor, and key members of the Chu family are temporarily out of contact. Relevant departments are investigating the matter.
The report made no mention of firearms, the clearing of the manor, or the taking of Chu Zhengnan's family.
Even Chu Tiankuo's name only appeared once.
Lu Yunzhou swiped the screen and let out a soft hum.
Pei Zhongting is quick to get things done.
The fact that the authorities were able to suppress the news as a commercial dispute despite the huge commotion caused by the Chu family suggests that someone has already paved the way for what's to come.
As for where Chu Zhengnan's family is now, he has no interest in knowing for the time being.
As long as the person is alive, the debt will never be less.
Lu Yunzhou got out of bed to put on his shoes, his shoulders aching from the strain.
He paused, raised his hand to press the wound, and waited for the pain to subside before leaving the room.
No one was in the living room.
The kitchen door was open, and Ye Zhiwei was standing in front of the stove.
She was wearing a light-colored apron, her long hair was tied back, and she was stirring the porridge in the pot with a wooden spoon.
Chopped scallions and eggs were placed next to the pot, and a few slices of ginger that hadn't been cleaned up yet were on the cutting board.
She wore slippers on her injured leg, and her posture was much more stable than usual.
Lu Yunzhou tiptoed around the sofa and quietly approached the kitchen.
As he walked to the door, a blurry figure was reflected on the metal exterior of the kettle.
With a flick of her wrist, Ye Zhiwei snatched the kitchen knife from the cutting board into her hand.
The blade flashed past Lu Yunzhou's head.
A few strands of black hair fell to the ground.
Lu Yunzhou's back tensed, he raised a hand to press on the top of his head, and his voice deepened: "Are you cooking porridge, or are you preparing to crack my skull open?"
Ye Zhiwei's hand holding the knife froze in mid-air, and the color drained from her face.
She stared at the uneven patch on his head, making sure there were no wounds before relaxing her shoulders.
"Who told you to walk so quietly?"
She put the knife back on the cutting board, still quite defiant, but her hand reached over and ruffled the stubble on his head.
Lu Yunzhou dodged to the side, his expression not looking good.
"You almost shaved my head to look like a monk."
Ye Zhiwei pursed her lips, held it in for a few seconds, and then burst out laughing.
She couldn't stop laughing, and bent over, leaning on the stove, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably.
Lu Yunzhou touched the top of his head, and the more he touched it, the more he felt something was wrong.
"Is it that funny?"
Ye Zhiwei raised her face, her eyes glistening with a smile.
"You're not right now, and you're missing a piece in the back."
Lu Yunzhou turned around and walked to the kitchen door, looking at himself through the glass cabinet.
A small tuft of hair was missing from the top of his head, and the edge was crooked.
It's longer on the left, shorter on the right, and has a notch cut out in the middle by the blade.
It really looks bad.
I just managed to subdue the Chu family last night, but when I woke up this morning, I was defeated in the kitchen.
Seeing his face growing increasingly grim, Ye Zhiwei quickly took out scissors from the drawer.
"Sit still, I'll fix it for you."
Lu Yunzhou turned to look at her.
"Can you cut it?"
Ye Zhiwei held the scissors up to her nose, her expression becoming more serious.
"It's just hair, a trim is fine."
She spoke frankly, and Lu Yunzhou didn't think much of it, pulling out a chair next to the dining table and sitting down.
Ye Zhiwei stood behind him and first cut off the few stray hairs that were sticking up.
The first strike was fairly clean, but the second one landed a bit off-center.
The third time, in order to complete the right side, she shortened the left side by a section.
As Lu Yunzhou looked at his hair through the glass cabinet, which was becoming increasingly strange, his expression gradually froze.
Ye Zhiwei was unaware and continued working diligently.
"Don't move, it'll be ready soon."
Lu Yunzhou pressed his palm against the table.
"You've said 'right away' three times already."
Ye Zhiwei looked up at the mirror, the scissors hovering in mid-air.
She seemed to have noticed the problem as well.
The hair on her forehead was cut in a diagonal line, one side of her hair was longer than the other by her ears, and two pieces were missing from the back of her head.
Lu Yunzhou took the scissors from her hand and placed them on the table.
"Do you have a grudge against the barbershop?"
Ye Zhiwei pursed her lips, but couldn't suppress the smile on her face.
"This is the first time I've ever cut someone's hair."
"You're using me as practice?"
"You have a lot of hair, it doesn't matter if a few strands are wasted."
Lu Yunzhou stared at her without saying a word for a long time.
Feeling guilty under his gaze, Ye Zhiwei turned around and rummaged through the electric clippers in the cabinet.
She handed over the machine, speaking very softly.
"How about we shorten it?"
Lu Yunzhou took the electric clippers and pressed the switch.
The machine made a humming sound.
He stood in front of the mirror and raised his hand to push from his forehead to the back of his head.
Black hair fell in clumps, quickly covering the ground.
Ye Zhiwei stood to the side, her eyes widening.
Lu Yunzhou didn't stop. He pushed the sides of his head a few times and then trimmed the back of his head again.
In less than two minutes, the messy hairstyle was completely gone, leaving only a short layer of stubble.
He turned off the machine and looked up at himself in the mirror.
This time it finally looks good.
Ye Zhiwei walked around behind him, staring at his short head, pressing her lips together repeatedly.
Lu Yunzhou caught her expression in the mirror.
"Laugh if you want to."
Ye Zhiwei immediately covered her mouth.
"Boss, you look just like a foreman who just ran out of a construction site."
Lu Yunzhou put the electric clippers on the table and picked up a towel to wipe away the stray hairs on his shoulders.
Say it again.
Ye Zhiwei took two steps back.
"I said, 'You look quite energetic.'"
Lu Yunzhou grabbed the electric clippers, turned them on, and walked towards her.
Ye Zhiwei's smile froze.
"What are you going to do?"
"I'll fix you up to the same model."
She turned and ran.
Lu Yunzhou chased after her out of the kitchen, while Ye Zhiwei bypassed the dining table, moving much faster than usual.
Her injured leg had not fully recovered, and she stopped in her tracks when she reached the sofa. Lu Yunzhou reached out to grab her.
Ye Zhiwei grabbed the back of the sofa, turned to the side to avoid it, and picked up a cushion from the table to cover her chest.
"Lu Yunzhou, if you dare touch my hair, I'll throw your porridge away."
Lu Yunzhou stopped and looked down at the stove.
The porridge in the pot was still steaming.
Ye Zhiwei had found his weakness.
He put down the electric clippers, turned around to turn off the stove, and brought the pot to the dining table.
Ye Zhiwei slowly put down the cushion, still staring at the machine in his hand.
"That's it?"
Lu Yunzhou ladled out a bowl of porridge and pushed it in front of her.
"Eat first. We'll settle the score after you finish eating, the one where you tried to stab me with a knife."
Ye Zhiwei gripped the spoon, suppressing the smile on her face.
"You saved me last night, so I'll cook you porridge today. We're even now."
Lu Yunzhou sat down opposite her and scooped a spoonful of porridge into his mouth.
The porridge was too thick, the ginger flavor was too strong, and too much salt was added.
He swallowed, his brow twitching slightly.
Ye Zhiwei immediately asked, "Is it unpalatable?"
Lu Yunzhou took another sip.
"It's edible."
Ye Zhiwei paused, her hand holding the spoon still.
"What you said is even more unpalatable than food."
Lu Yunzhou looked at her and finally smiled.
The city outside the window is fully awake.
My phone was still vibrating on the table, the news page still showing reports of the Chu family's disappearance.
Ye Zhiwei followed his gaze, and her smile slowly faded.
She lowered her voice: "Will the Chu family's affairs implicate you?"
