That night.

Su Lixing handed the key and password to Jiang Zhiyu and stood at the door without going in.

Jiang Zhiyu walked in and casually closed the door behind her. She opened each cabinet one by one, looking at the neatly stacked safes, document bags, and stacks of cash inside. She didn't count them; with a wave of her hand, her spiritual power spread out, and the space silently swallowed everything.

In less than ten minutes, the entire vault of the villa was emptied.

She returned to the living room, where Su Lixing was still sitting on the sofa waiting, the cup of coffee beside him long since cold.

"You've accepted them all?"

"Take them all." Jiang Zhiyu sat down opposite him. "Uncle, you need to go and register your departure first thing tomorrow morning. Be quick. Once the news gets out, those people watching you won't give you much time."

......

The next morning, Su Lixing took He Li, Su Wenbin, and Zhou Xiaoman to complete the departure registration.

The news spread faster than he had anticipated. Less than two hours after they left the registration office, the doorbell rang at the Su residence.

Two investigators in dark suits stood at the door, wearing badges of the Ministry of Finance's Overseas Assets Control Office on their chests.

"Mr. Su, may I bother you for a moment?"

Su Lixing was prepared. He stepped aside to let them into the living room and asked He Li to pour tea. He Li's hands trembled slightly, and some tea spilled onto the tray. Su Lixing reassured her with a look.

After the two investigators sat down, the older one got straight to the point: "Mr. Su, we received intelligence that you once owned a large number of legally purchased gold bars. Where are these gold bars now?"

Su Lixing helplessly shrugged, his expression even more troubled than theirs: "That's exactly what I was about to ask. I've been keeping those gold bars in my private vault, and when I got home the night before last, they were all gone. The door wasn't pried open, the lock wasn't broken, but the things just vanished."

"You mean it was stolen?"

"What else could I do? I couldn't just make them disappear! It's all your fault for keeping such a close watch on us that even thieves set their sights on our house!" Su Lixing covered his eyes with his hands, buried his head between his legs, and choked out, "I've been running this business here for over ten years, and now the company is gone, the assets are gone, and the gold bars are gone too. To be honest, I want to know where they went even more than you do."

The younger investigator flipped through the documents in his hand: "Mr. Su, during our investigation, we discovered that you have multiple records of large asset transfers, spanning more than three years."

"It's legal." Su Lixing wiped away his tears with both hands, looked up, and interrupted him, his tone calm and unhurried. "Every transaction is documented, and the tax payment certificates are complete. If you want to investigate, go ahead. I have nothing to hide."

"So where did these funds go?"

"Where did it go? Some were invested in businesses in Hong Kong, some were exchanged for physical assets, I don't remember the specifics very well, it was three years ago." He pulled out a tissue and wiped his hands. "Everyone, to be honest, I have nothing left here except a house, and I still have to pay the mortgage every month. If you can help me find that gold, I would be extremely grateful. If you can't find it, I'll have no choice but to go back to China and live off my parents."

The older investigator stared at him for several seconds: "Mr. Su, it's the burden of proof."

"The burden of proof lies with your government," Su Lixing interjected, his tone indignant. "You have an obligation to investigate thoroughly, not me to prove my innocence. I've cooperated fully so far, providing every single document required. What else do you want to ask? I'll continue answering. But now that I'm done, I need to pack my bags; my plane ticket is already booked."

A few seconds of silence filled the living room. The young investigator quickly scribbled something in his notebook, while the older man closed his folder and stood up.

"Mr. Su, we will continue to follow up on this case."

"You're welcome anytime." Su Lixing stood up and saw them to the door. "By the way, could you please report this to the police nearby? So much gold was stolen; you have to file a case, right? Would this be considered major theft?"

The investigator didn't reply, and walked out of the Su residence with a livid face.

......

After everyone had gone far away, Su Lixing closed the door, leaned against the door panel, and let out a long sigh.

He Li emerged from the inner room, her face still showing tension: "Will they come again?"

"Yes," Su Lixing said frankly. "This house will definitely be targeted in the future. Let's leave; our old friend can keep an eye on it for us. If we return to the US later, this case will definitely be brought up again."

He sat down on the sofa and rubbed his temples. "But everyone who was going to leave has left, and the money is safe. All that's left is the airport."

......

When the group appeared at the airport, customs officers did not let them off the hook.

Su Lixing and his family of four were led to an adjacent inspection room. All their carry-on and checked luggage were opened and scanned one by one. The inspectors searched every layer of compartments and scanned every corner of every suitcase.

Half an hour passed.

"No shipping records."

"No abnormal declarations were submitted upon exiting customs."

No suspicious items were found in the luggage.

Each report made the customs official standing next to him look even more grim. They knew perfectly well that this group was involved in large-scale asset transactions, but they just couldn't find any evidence. They weren't carrying excessive amounts of cash, undeclared precious metals, or anything that could constitute a charge of smuggling or tax evasion.

The person in charge stood at the door of the inspection room, watching Su Lixing and his family standing neatly to the side, cooperating as best they could.

Finally, he walked up to Su Lixing and lowered his voice: "Mr. Su, if you return to the United States in the future, we will continue to investigate this case."

Su Lixing shrugged, a slight smile even on his face: "I welcome agents anytime. How about we exchange contact information? It'll be convenient for you to reach me anytime."

The person in charge didn't say anything more, turned around and left.

After the whole family boarded the plane, He Li leaned back in her seat and let out a long sigh. Su Wenbin and Zhou Xiaoman exchanged a glance and finally relaxed as well. This departure had truly been fraught with difficulties.

......

Jiang Zhiyu only felt relieved after watching them board the plane.

She didn't go to the airport to see him off. After confirming that the plane had taken off, she turned around and teleported directly to the uninhabited western region of Country M.

Last time she dug a huge hole here, and from the air, the desert looked like it had been ripped open with a huge wound. The rocks at the edge of the crack were an unnatural dark red, and nothing grew for kilometers around it; even the sandstorms seemed to avoid it.

Jiang Zhiyu stood at the edge of the crevice, looking down. The bottomless abyss was like a gaping maw of darkness.

She teleported several times, circling along the edge of the crack, and used her mental energy to probe the rock layers. The geological structure of this area was indeed abnormal; deep within the rock layers, there was a mineral texture she had never seen before, with similar energy fluctuation characteristics to the special ores she had previously processed in the space.

"Why does this kind of ore happen to be found in this particular place?" she muttered to herself.

She then extended her mental energy to a radius of several tens of kilometers, searching inch by inch. Beneath the desert surface, there was nothing but ordinary sandstone and quartz layers.

Seventeen floated out from behind her shoulder, flapping its small wings: "Host, stop searching, there's nothing left. The last round you dug already took everything that could be collected in this area."

Jiang Zhiyu didn't speak, her gaze still fixed on the crack.

"However, the uninhabited areas in China are also quite unique. Don't forget that meteorite you collected back then; it almost dried you out of the water."

Jiang Zhiyu rolled her eyes at it: "If you can't speak, then don't speak."

That was indeed a close call.

After confirming that there was nothing unusual nearby, Jiang Zhiyu sighed with some regret. There was obviously something else in this place, but she had already emptied it out, leaving only low-grade mineral layers that weren't worth the effort to deal with.

She didn't linger and teleported back to Kyoto.

......

Su Jinglun was practicing calligraphy in his study in the courtyard house when he heard the gate open. He looked up and saw Jiang Zhiyu walking in.

The old man's eyes lit up, and he quickly put down his pen and looked behind her.

Su Lixing was not seen.

Su Jinglun's heart immediately jumped, and the smile on his face froze: "Where's your uncle? He said he had packed up a few days ago, why didn't he come back? Did something happen?"

Jiang Zhiyu immediately noticed the worry in the old man's eyes, her heart softening. She quickly smiled and said, "Don't worry, Grandpa, they're taking a plane, while I'm using a private passage. It'll definitely be faster than them. They should still be over the Pacific Ocean right now. You just need to wait to pick them up at the airport."

Su Jinglun was taken aback for a moment, then realized that his granddaughter had returned directly through their bureau's special channel, which was much faster than taking a commercial flight. He finally felt relieved, patted his chest, and then looked a little embarrassed.

"Zhiyu, thank you so much this time. Your uncle and the others were able to return safely thanks to you."

He gestured for Jiang Zhiyu to come inside and sit down, then turned and went into the inner room. After a while, he carefully took a small wooden box out of the cabinet and placed it in front of Jiang Zhiyu.

"These are all things girls like, you can take them and play with them. You can give them to Yaoyao later too."

Jiang Zhiyu opened the box and glanced inside. It contained some exquisite jewelry and small items, which looked like her grandmother's private savings accumulated over many years.

She pushed the box back: "Take it back, Grandpa. I don't need these."

"It's not a matter of whether we need it or not," Su Jinglun said earnestly, pushing the box back. "This is a small token of our appreciation from Grandpa and Grandma. You've helped the family so much; we can't just leave without saying anything."

Jiang Zhiyu rolled her eyes, her voice tinged with a hint of coquettishness: "Grandpa, I'm doing something for my family, and I have to ask you for payment? What do you take me for? An outsider?"

She deliberately put on a stern face, stood up, and walked into the inner room.

Grandpa Su watched her retreating figure and chuckled.

"Alright, alright, Grandpa will keep it for you for now." He carried the box back to the cabinet, muttering, "These things will eventually be yours anyway, no rush."

"Suit yourself." Jiang Zhiyu waved her hand without turning her head. "I'm going to rest; I'm tired."

"Go on, go on, go get some sleep first." Su Jinglun followed behind, the wrinkles on his face smoothing out. "I'll have your mom and grandma make you something nice to eat, you can eat it when you wake up."
