The light slowly swept across the pages, and at the very bottom corner, there remained a faint imprint of half a character.

"Qin..." Wenren Lei murmured the word.

His gaze suddenly turned to Liao Xingwei. He remembered that Liao Xingwei's mother's surname was Qin. Could there be such a coincidence in the world?

Liao Xingwei seemed to have anticipated Wenren Lei's reaction.

He stared at the roof and said weakly, "Don't look at me with such a defensive gaze. If there's really a problem in District 6, I will never show favoritism."

Wenren Lei looked at him quietly for a moment: "What if I send you back to District 6 to investigate Qin Suihua?"

Liao Xingwei paused for a moment: "There are many people with the surname Qin."

Wenren Lei said slowly, "Liao Xingwei, don't you feel that you've received too much preferential treatment at the manor? Even that arrogant head instructor personally came to talk to you."

Liao Xingwei looked somewhat confused. Was this preferential treatment?

But from childhood to adulthood, wherever he went, everyone treated him this way. Isn't that how everyone is?

No, he missed one thing; it's not like that in Area 11.

If one has received preferential treatment for the past twenty years or so, is what one experiences in Japan the true reality for ordinary people?

He turned to look at Wenren Lei. Before, when they were in the 11th District war zone and confronted each other about forming a team, Wenren Lei had said something like, "If it weren't for his parents keeping him in check, he wouldn't be able to stay in the 11th District at all."

At that moment, Liao Xingwei felt suffocated and lost.

He found it hard to accept that everything he had in the first half of his life was due to the preferential treatment he received because of his parents' status.

Then what about the fairness and justice he has been pursuing all this time?

"What are you spacing out for?" Wenren Lei said impatiently. "Brother Yan, show him the video."

Fu Yan took out a camera from his spatial storage, switched the video to the brewery segment, and tossed it directly to Liao Xingwei.

Liao Xingwei snapped out of his daze and hurriedly caught it. He hesitated for a moment, then looked down at the video inside.

Wenren Lei stood up and slowly walked to his side: "At least a dozen people come to the manor every day, but the total number has remained stable at around six hundred."

Liao Xingwei stared at the video, his heart sinking deeper and deeper.

Wenren Lei's voice, as if under a spell, slowly and deliberately drilled into Liao Xingwei's ears and heart: "Every day, more than a dozen people are dragged into the brewery for breaking the rules. In the end, they are mixed into glasses of red wine and sent to those students who are desperately trying to become outstanding graduates."

When Liao Xingwei saw the sign in the video, his gaze was fixed on the four words "comprehensive utilization". He suddenly turned off the camera, rushed to the corner of the room, and leaned against the wall to dry heave.

Wenren Lei sat on the bed and slowly added, "You've also drunk those red wines. They're fishy and sweet, and everyone drinks them without making a sound."

Liao Xingwei raised his hand to interrupt him: "Please, there's no need to add any more details."

Wenren Lei chuckled softly, leaned back, and collapsed onto the bed. He sighed; even Liao Xingwei's mattress was softer than the other trainees'.

Over there, Liao Xingwei was half-squatting, his gaze fixed blankly on the ground, lost in thought.

If his mother was indeed the one who received those graduates, then she might be the mastermind behind all of this.

She chose to turn a blind eye to the fact that the estate treated hundreds or even thousands of people as goods and raw materials.

These are possibilities that Liao Xingwei is unwilling to believe, yet cannot immediately rule out.

"Liao Xingwei, we are only speculating at the moment. Even if the root of these things lies in District 6, it is not impossible that Qin Suihua was kept in the dark by his own people," Wenren Lei said lazily.

Liao Xingwei looked up at him. He hadn't expected that the first person to leave room for his mother would be Wenren Lei, who usually didn't get along with him.

Wenren Lei sat up straight, propping herself up on the edge of the bed: "However, you should be well aware of the current situation in the entire region. Humans, zombies, and the research institute and the crystal core ability users they created are in a three-way standoff."

He stood up and stretched: "In the eyes of the other two sides, humans are just food."

"Have you ever thought about something?" Wenren Lei asked.

Liao Xingwei instinctively knew that Wenren Lei's next words would be very harsh, and his voice was weak: "What?"

Wenren Lei said, "The Crystal Core Ability User Legion is different from zombies. Zombies can survive for months without food, but Crystal Core Ability Users can't; they need to consume a sufficient amount of flesh and blood every day."

Liao Xingwei's eyebrows twitched violently.

Wenren Lei pointed towards the manor's kitchen: "The meat patties produced there are most likely intended for them. The manor can only supply a dozen or so rule-breaking students a day, which is clearly not enough, meaning..."

Liao Xingwei, trembling, continued, "They have to capture a large number of...humans from outside."

Wenren Lei nodded: "This is a matter of great importance; you must make a decision immediately."

Liao Xingwei stood up, closed his eyes, and said, "I'll go to District 6. I'll investigate."

"Can I trust you?" Wenren Lei asked. "This might be the only chance to dismantle this entire black market supply chain from top to bottom."

Liao Xingwei looked at Wenren Lei with an unprecedentedly serious expression: "You can only trust me. Besides me, you won't find anyone else in District 6 who can be trusted."

Wenren Lei suddenly swallowed hard and glared at Fu Yan.

Fu Yan gently shook his head at him.

Wenren Lei suppressed the discomfort in her throat and said lightly, "Then go ahead."

Liao Xingwei asked, "Do you believe me now?"

Wenren Lei scratched his head indifferently: "Like you said, I have no one else I can use, only you."

Liao Xingwei tilted his head: "Aren't you afraid I'll betray you?"

Wenren Lei said, "When the time comes, I'd rather kill the innocent than let the guilty go free. I'll personally lead my men to raze District 6 and tear you apart to feed the zombies."

Liao Xingwei paused for a moment, then said, "You and Ayu are nothing alike. He's much gentler than you."

Wenren Lei laughed out loud: "That only shows that you don't understand him."

In his mind, his brother was a magnificent tyrant.

Fu Yan added, "If this matter is truly connected to District 6, the people at the manor will definitely know you. They might have already informed District 6 that you're here. You must be extremely careful when you go back to investigate, otherwise the risk of being exposed is very high."

Liao Xingwei said, "I understand. What are you going to do?"

Fu Yan shook his head slightly: "The people at the manor may not know us."

Wenren Lei said, "Even if they knew us, they wouldn't be wary of us. They're too confident; they think no one can escape the mind control of an S-class psychic."

"Then why were you able to briefly regain your memories?" Liao Xingwei asked.

Wenren Lei's Adam's apple bobbed heavily as she asked, "Are you hungry?"

"Huh?" Liao Xingwei thought Wenren Lei was concerned about him. "Thank you, I'm not hungry."

"It's almost time, I'm going back to the dorm." Wenren Lei waved goodbye as she walked out, her back to him. "I'll figure out how to get you out tomorrow."

Fu Yan took the documents and silently followed Wenren Lei.
