Zhou Lang didn't look up.

"Ignore it. Guard the gate," Zhou Lang said.

He slammed his hands on the keyboard, forcing himself to type the last line of code.

Press Enter.

On the right side of the screen, Han Yingying took out a Gatling gun and shredded the Faceless Man into a bloody pulp.

Zhou Lang leaned back in his chair and lit a cigarette.

"This girl's really something," Liu Wei remarked, watching the screen. "Brother Zhou, did you teach her?"

"She taught me," Zhou Lang said, exhaling a smoke ring.

The console screen flickered. The right-hand view switched to a holographic communication interface.

Han Yingying's face appeared on the screen.

"You're late," Zhou Lang said.

Han Yingying stared at the screen, wiping the blood from her face.

"It's not easy to snatch a car," Han Yingying said.

"Do you remember now?" Zhou Lang asked.

"I remember part of it," Han Yingying said. "Did we create this mess?"

"Half and half," Zhou Lang said. "The main system has mutated. It wants to turn reality into a game."

"How can we stop it?"

"Unplug the network cable," Zhou Lang said. "The node in front of you is just a distributor. The main server is at the very top of the relay station."

Han Yingying looked around the hall. The tumor on the wall was throbbing faster and faster.

"The real world won't last long," Han Yingying said.

"I know," Zhou Lang said. "You have to come in."

How do I get in?

"I'll open the door for you," Zhou Lang said.

Zhou Lang pressed the cigarette butt against the metal edge of the control panel. His fingers returned to the keyboard.

Enter coordinates. Create a channel.

A blue portal appeared in front of the monument. Light swirled around it.

"Come through," Zhou Lang said.

A crashing sound came from outside the tower.

The executioner's bone spikes slammed into the metal door, denting it.

Liu Wei was so shocked that he fell to the ground with a thud.

"Brother Zhou, the door is about to break down!" Liu Wei shouted.

"Shut up." Zhou Lang stared at the screen.

The portal's energy is stabilizing. As long as Han Yingying comes over, they will be able to reunite.

The real world.

Han Yingying took a step forward, preparing to enter the teleportation portal.

The floor of the lobby suddenly cracked.

A huge black tentacle emerged and wrapped around Han Yingying's ankle.

It was incredibly strong. It pulled her down.

The portal flickered twice. Then it disappeared.

Zhou Lang's image on the screen turned into static.

[Connection interrupted.]

Han Yingying looked down at the tentacles wrapped around her feet.

The tentacles were covered in barbs. They pierced the military boot. They embedded themselves in the flesh. Blood flowed out.

She did not draw her dagger.

She pulled a plasma cutter from the armory.

Aim the gun at the tentacle. Fire.

The blue, high-temperature rays severed the tentacles.

The tentacle severed. Black blood spurted out. It fell to the ground and emitted white smoke.

Han Yingying stepped back, creating some distance.

The cracks were widening. The entire hall floor was collapsing.

A colossal creature crawled out from underground.

It was a mountain of flesh pieced together from countless human limbs. Arms, thighs, and torsos were intertwined.

At the top of the mountain of flesh was Li Changsheng's face.

Li Changsheng did not die. He was assimilated by the main system and became the gatekeeper of this area.

"Bai Ye," Li Changsheng's face spoke. Voices overlapped. The voices of men, women, young, and old mingled together. "Stay. Become a part of us."

The mountain of flesh crawled forward. It absorbed the bits of flesh on the ground, growing larger.

Han Yingying looked at the mountain of flesh.

She pulled out an anti-materiel sniper rifle.

Pull the bolt. Load the gun. Aim at Li Changsheng's forehead.

"You're too ugly," Han Yingying said.

Pull the trigger.

A gunshot rang out. The recoil made Han Yingying's shoulders go numb.

An armor-piercing incendiary shell pierced Li Changsheng's head.

Heads exploded. Flames spread across the mountain of flesh.

The mountain of flesh emitted a piercing scream. Countless arms reached out from within it, slapping at the flames.

More tentacles emerged from the ground and lunged towards Han Yingying.

Han Yingying put away her sniper rifle and switched to two submachine guns.

She moved among the tentacles. Fire.

The bullet severed the tentacle. She stepped on the fallen tentacle and jumped upwards.

The objective is the core of the Mountain of Flesh.

Her memory told her that the core of this Frankenstein's monster was located in its heart. There was a glowing crystal there.

Meat Mountain realized her intentions.

A dozen or so arms were clasped together, forming a human shield in front of their chests.

Li Changsheng's face regenerated in another location on the mountain of flesh.

"You can't kill me. I am immortal," Li Changsheng shouted.

Han Yingying landed on the ground.

She ran out of bullets in her submachine gun. She threw it away.

Activate the RPG rocket launcher.

Shoulder it. Aim at the meat shield.

emission.

The rocket, trailing a fiery exhaust, slammed into the human shield. It exploded.

The meat shield was blasted open, revealing a pulsating red crystal inside.

Han Yingying threw away the rocket launcher.

Draw the lightsaber.

Approach run. Takeoff.

She stepped on the limbs of the mountain of flesh, charging upwards.

Tentacles chased after her, almost wrapping around her legs.

Han Yingying leaped into the air, gripping the lightsaber with both hands.

Aim at the red crystal. Insert it.

The lightsaber pierced the crystal.

The entire mountain of flesh froze.

A crimson light burst forth from the crystal, spreading along the veins of the mountain of flesh.

Han Yingying drew her lightsaber. She did a backflip and landed steadily.

The mountain of flesh began to collapse. Limbs scattered all over the ground, turning into black ash.

Li Changsheng's face contorted in the ashes. He vanished.

The hall fell silent.

The cracks in the ground slowly closed. The growths on the wall stopped throbbing. They withered. They fell.

The square monument lit up again.

The static on the screen disappeared. Zhou Lang's face reappeared.

"Is it resolved?" Zhou Lang asked.

"A Frankenstein's monster," Han Yingying said. She glanced at the wound on her ankle. The bleeding had stopped.

"The portal's energy is depleted. It'll take time to rebuild," Zhou Lang said. "There's a big guy outside the tower banging on the door. I need to deal with it first."

"Do you need any help?"

"No need. You stay there and guard the node," Zhou Lang said. "The main system has detected that we're modifying the underlying code. It's resetting a region of the real world."

What does "reset" mean?

"We'll turn the real world into a complete game map. Everyone will become an NPC or a monster," Zhou Lang said.

The screen flickered.

Han Yingying noticed that the corridor outside the hall was beginning to change.

The dark red walls turned into cold metal. The slime on the ground transformed into neat floor tiles.

The Changsheng Bio-technology Building is being rebuilt.

"It's here." Han Yingying gripped her lightsaber tightly.

"Wait for me," Zhou Lang said, then cut off the communication.

Han Yingying stood before the square monument, looking at the only entrance to the hall.

The metal door slowly opened.

A row of soldiers in black power armor stood outside the door. Their guns were pointed at her. (Chapters 51 through 53 will continue from the previous text.)

Han Yingying stood in front of the monument. Outside the gate were a dozen or so powered armored soldiers. Their faces were covered by black helmets.

The team leader looked at Han Yingying. The team leader's name was Wang Gang, an elite member of the Black Gold Guild. His mission was to clear all living things from the third underground level. He couldn't understand why a woman could still be alive. And she was holding a glowing sword.

The system panel shows that this woman's level is unknown.
