The red fog grew thicker and thicker. Visibility was less than ten meters.

Han Yingying walked ahead. She twirled the high-frequency vibrating knife in her hand. There was slimy, green, and sour-smelling sap on the fungal carpet in front of her.

The traces left by the bloodthirsty queen bee.

She stopped. She crouched down. She used the tip of her knife to pick up a little of the sticky substance. White smoke rose from the blade. It was highly corrosive.

"Go around it," Han Yingying said.

She stood up and walked into a small alley on the left.

Li Qiang and the other two quickly followed. The female player's shoes made a squelching sound as they stepped on the fungal carpet.

"Be gentle." Han Yingying said without turning her head.

The alley was narrow. The walls on both sides were covered with white, thread-like material—spider webs.

Han Yingying's memories were churning. She remembered this setting: the spider web was the queen bee's outer defense for her ovaries. Touching it would trigger an alarm.

"Don't touch the wall," Han Yingying said.

She walked forward sideways. Her movements were slow.

Li Qiang walked last. He looked at the white silk on the wall, curious. He had played many survival games before. These kinds of environments usually had hidden treasure chests.

He reached out his hand, wanting to touch the white stockings.

Han Yingying suddenly turned around. The knife in her hand flew out, grazing Li Qiang's fingers and embedding itself in the wall.

Li Qiang was so frightened that he sat down on the ground with a thud.

"Just say you want to die." Han Yingying walked over and pulled out her knife. "Don't drag me into this."

Li Qiang swallowed hard. He dared not speak. The woman's eyes were cold, devoid of any emotion, as if she were looking at a lifeless object.

The white silk on the wall suddenly began to vibrate.

Han Yingying frowned. She glanced at the female player. The female player's backpack strap was caught on a white stocking.

"I'm sorry," the female player said, her voice trembling with tears.

"Shut up," Han Yingying said.

A buzzing sound came from deep within the alley. The sound grew louder and louder, like a helicopter approaching.

Several worker bees, about half a person's height, flew out of the red mist. Their stingers gleamed blue.

Han Yingying did not retreat. She brought out her spatial backpack and took out a shotgun.

"Squat down," Han Yingying called out.

The three of them quickly covered their heads and squatted on the ground.

Han Yingying opened fire. Shotgun blasts created a metallic storm in the narrow alley. The first two worker bees were riddled with bullets. Green bodily fluids splattered on the walls.

The remaining worker bees did not retreat. They continued to charge forward.

Han Yingying fired as she retreated. When she ran out of ammunition, she didn't reload. Instead, she tossed the gun back into her backpack and picked up two submachine guns.

Dual-wielding. Spraying.

Worker bees fell to the ground one after another.

Li Qiang squatted on the ground, watching Han Yingying switch weapons with incredible speed. He was utterly impressed. This wasn't a professional player; this was cheating. Seamless weapon switching, and unlimited backpack capacity.

The buzzing stopped. A dozen or so worker bees lay dead on the ground.

Han Yingying put away her gun. She glanced at the system time on her wrist. The physical laws of the real world were collapsing, and the flow of time had changed. She had to speed up.

"Let's go," Han Yingying said.

Walk through the alley. Ahead lies a square. It used to be a public square in the city center. Now it's become a huge pit.

In the center of the pit lay a gigantic insect, over ten meters long. It had four pairs of transparent wings on its back, and its abdomen was swollen. It was laying eggs.

Bloodthirsty queen bee.

There were many shriveled human corpses around the square. They were all players or civilians whose blood had been drained.

Han Yingying stood at the edge of the pit, looking at the queen bee.

Memories flooded back.

"This boss's stats are insane," Zhou Lang said, sitting next to her and pointing at the screen. "It has tons of health and can fly. Melee players can't even hit it."

"Then let's add a weakness to it," she typed. "When it lays eggs, its defense drops by 80%. The base of its wings contains nerve nodes. If you break its wings, it won't be able to fly."

Han Yingying stroked her chin. The queen bee was currently laying eggs. It was the perfect time to kill her.

She needs the Queen Bee's wings. In the game, the Queen Bee's wings can be crafted into a glider. With the glider, she can fly directly to the TV tower, instead of wasting time fighting these low-level monsters on the ground.

"You three, go over there." Han Yingying pointed to a pile of rubble across the pit. "Make some noise."

"Are we going to our deaths?" Li Qiang shook his head.

Han Yingying held a knife to Li Qiang's neck. "Go, or die now."

Li Qiang gritted his teeth and led the other two men toward the ruins.

They ran behind the ruins. Li Qiang picked up a brick and smashed it against the hood of an abandoned car, making a loud noise.

The queen bee stopped laying eggs. She turned her head. Her compound eyes reflected the figures of Li Qiang and his two companions.

It let out a shriek. It flapped its wings. It took flight. It swooped down upon the ruins.

Han Yingying moved.

She didn't take a gun. Heat weapons had limited effect on the queen bee's exoskeleton. She summoned her lightsaber. A blue plasma beam lit up.

She took a running start, jumped into the pit, and used the protrusions on the pit wall to propel herself upwards.

The queen bee's attention was entirely focused on Li Qiang and his group. She was completely unprepared for what was happening behind her.

Han Yingying jumped onto the queen bee's back. Her military boots slid across the smooth carapace. It was a little slippery. She used her dagger to poke a crevice in the carapace, securing herself.

The queen bee noticed the foreign object on her back. She began to twist her body frantically, trying to shake Han Yingying off.

Han Yingying steadied herself. She gripped the lightsaber with both hands and aimed it at the base of the first pair of wings on the left side of the queen bee.

Insert it.

The lightsaber's intense heat instantly severed her nerve nodes. The queen bee let out a scream. Her left wing stopped flapping. She lost her balance and plummeted to the ground.

The queen bee crashed onto the square, crushing several cars. Green blood stained the ground.

Han Yingying jumped away before landing. She rolled once on the ground and stood up.

The queen bee was still struggling. Her remaining wings fluttered, trying to take flight again.

Han Yingying didn't give it a chance. She rushed forward. Her lightsaber swung repeatedly, severing the remaining three pairs of wings.

The queen bee had completely transformed into a crawling worm on the ground.

It opened its mouth, which was full of fangs, and spat out a glob of green acid.

Han Yingying dodged to the side. The acid landed on the floor tiles, corroding a large hole.

She walked to the queen bee's side. The lightsaber plunged into its swollen abdomen. With a powerful slash.

Her abdomen split open. Countless white eggs flowed out. The queen bee twitched a few times. Then she became still.

Four transparent wings vanished from their spot and entered her spatial backpack.

Li Qiang and his two companions emerged from behind the ruins. Looking at the enormous corpse on the ground, their legs went weak.

"Boss, which guild are you from?" Li Qiang asked.

"A freelancer," Han Yingying said.

She opened the system panel. She placed the four wings into the crafting menu. She added some scrap metal she had collected along the way. She clicked "Craft".

A flash of white light.

A pair of silver metallic hang gliders appeared in her hand.

She slung the hang glider over her back and fastened the straps.

"Find a place to hide yourselves," Han Yingying said to Li Qiang. "Come out when the red mist dissipates."
