Hunting 81: Gathering Goods in the Mountains, I Spoil My Ex-Wife to the Extreme

The day after Song Qingshi and his family of three went to the county public security bureau to meet Jin Jianbin, Song Ping and Jin Jianbin agreed to divorce, ending their marriage.

Three days later, the police released the results of their investigation into Jin Jianbin.

First, Jin Jianbin, director of the education office of Xiangyang Commune, abused his power to coerce and entice Cui Liping and two others into having sexual relations with him on multiple occasions, which had a serious negative impact on the education system of Qinghe County.

Second, Jin Jianbin, taking advantage of his position, misappropriated and embezzled more than 35 times during the approval process of funds for the construction projects of village primary schools in Xiangyang Commune, through means such as interception and private deduction, totaling more than 1,900 yuan. The facts are clear and the evidence is conclusive.

Third, the Xiangyang Commune Education Office had serious problems with forming cliques and factions in its daily work. Its internal management was chaotic, its work style was improper, and it was involved in many unclear accounts involving huge sums of money.

The Education Bureau had just dismissed him from his public office when the Public Security Bureau issued an arrest warrant.

The moment Jin Jianbin saw the arrest warrant from the police station, his chubby face turned deathly pale.

The court's verdict against Jin Jianbin was also delivered quickly—Jin Jianbin, the former director of the Xiangyang Commune Education Office, took advantage of his position to lure multiple women into having sexual relations with him; he also took advantage of his position to embezzle and misappropriate more than 1,900 yuan through means such as interception and unauthorized deduction, which constituted a huge amount, and the evidence was conclusive.

Furthermore, they formed cliques and factions in their daily work, leading to chaotic internal management and unclear accounts in the Xiangyang Commune Education Office.

He was convicted of multiple crimes and sentenced to 15 years in prison in the first instance.

When Jin Jianbin heard the words "sentenced to fifteen years in prison," he felt dizzy and disoriented, as if his spine had been removed, and collapsed to the ground.

He has worked in the education system for over ten years, starting from the lowest level and working his way up to director. He is now over thirty years old.

Now, he has been sentenced to fifteen years in prison in the first instance. By the time he gets out of prison, he will be nearly fifty years old.

When the court delivered its verdict, many education bureau officials who were in the courtroom to observe the trial were instantly shocked and psychologically impacted upon hearing that Jin Jianbin had been sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

……

The news that Jin Jianbin had been sentenced to fifteen years in prison also reached Guapigou Village.

In fact, a few days after Jin Jianbin was arrested at the guesthouse by Captain Jiang of the Public Security Bureau, everyone in Guapigou Village knew that he had been arrested.

Because Jin Jianbin had been holding back the application materials for Guapigou Village Primary School, the village chief and village officials went to the commune's education office every other day to wait for them.

After waiting for a day or two without seeing Jin Jianbin, and then for three or four days without seeing him, the village chief and village officials were curious about what Director Jin had been up to. Why hadn't he shown up for several days? Was he deliberately avoiding them?

However, on the fifth day, the village chief and village officials learned that Jin Jianbin had been arrested by the county public security bureau at the guesthouse.

I heard that it was Director Jin again, who was caught having an affair with some random woman at the guesthouse after being reported by the public.

Upon hearing this news, the village chief was stunned for a moment. He couldn't help but recall what Li Yunshan had said at the village meeting that day: "If yielding won't solve the problem, then let's deal with the people who created it."

Jin Jianbin has now been arrested by the police.

So, the person who reported Jin Jianbin was Li Yunshan?

Considering that Li Yunshan had not been seen at the village primary school construction site for three consecutive days after the village meeting, the village chief became even more certain that Li Yunshan had reported Jin Jianbin.

Then, two days later, new news came from Xiangyang Commune: Director Jin Jianbin was sentenced to fifteen years in prison by the county court for multiple crimes, including having illicit relationships, forming cliques, and embezzlement and bribery.

When the news reached Guapigou Village, the trenches used for laying the foundation at the village primary school construction site had just been dug.

The foundation trench, 80 centimeters wide and one meter deep, was dug straight and neatly.

Looking at the excavated foundation trenches, everyone was looking forward to what the new primary school would look like after it was built.

However, when the news of Jin Jianbin's sentencing reached the construction site of the village primary school, everyone was stunned for a moment.

Zhang Sange, with one hand on his hoe and the other on his hip, cursed, "Serves him right! He messed things up and blocked our village primary school's application materials."

"Adultery, embezzlement, bribery, forming cliques... Fifteen years is too lenient a sentence for him; he should be sentenced to death."

"He was so arrogant in front of the village chief when he came to the village that day, but now he's a prisoner."

"Good and evil will ultimately be rewarded; the cycle of karma is inescapable. Look up and see, who can escape the judgment of Heaven!"

Uncle Zhou said, "This kind of parasite should not be allowed into the cadre ranks; he's simply a black sheep."

Everyone's faces showed complete agreement.

……

The appointment of a new director of the education office in Xiangyang Commune came very quickly, five days after Jin Jianbin was sentenced to fifteen years in prison.

The new director is named Han Yuanhang, thirty-five years old. He used to be a clerk in the Education Bureau's Supervision Office. He is tall and thin, with a refined and gentle demeanor. He wears black-rimmed glasses and his hair is neatly combed, making him look like a rigid and frail scholar.

The day the appointment notice was delivered to him, he had just arrived at his workplace from home. As soon as he entered the office, before he had even taken off his cotton-padded coat, Section Chief Niu from the Personnel Department came in with the appointment notice.

The appointment notice was placed on the desk, and Section Chief Niu of the Personnel Department patted him on the shoulder: "Yuanhang, the organization trusts you, and the bureau leaders also believe that you can do a good job in Xiangyang Commune. When you take office in Xiangyang Commune, you must do a good job and not let down the organization and the bureau leaders' expectations of you. This is a great opportunity."

Han Yuanhang picked up the appointment notice, looked at it carefully, and his face was filled with joy.

He worked diligently and conscientiously in the Education Bureau for fifteen years, but he never got a promotion and remained a regular staff member in the Supervision Office.

Before he knew it, he was thirty-five years old. He had given up hope of promotion, but unexpectedly, an opportunity came at this crucial moment.

However, when he saw the appointment notice that he was to be transferred to Xiangyang Commune to serve as the director of the education office, he was taken aback.

Xiangyang Commune?

Was the director of the education office there recently dismissed from his post and sentenced to fifteen years in prison by the court for illegal activities such as having extramarital affairs, embezzlement, bribery, and extortion?

Furthermore, several staff members of the Education Office are currently under investigation by the organization for forming cliques with the former director.

Although Han Yuanhang was just an ordinary staff member in the Education Bureau, as the saying goes, "being near the water tower, one gets the moon first," and because he was in the Education Bureau, he knew more information.

Because of Jin Jianbin's previous misconduct in Xiangyang Commune, the school leaders and teachers there had many complaints and opinions about the education office.

At this critical juncture, sending him to Xiangyang Commune is both a sign of the organization's trust in him, entrusting him with a major responsibility, and also an additional burden on his shoulders, requiring him to clean up the mess there.

However, he was also worried about his family...

"Section Chief Niu, can I go back and discuss this with my wife?"

"Okay, give me an answer tomorrow." Section Chief Niu nodded.

As the head of the personnel department, he was quite familiar with Han Yuanhang's family situation.

Han's wife is in poor health, his two children are still young, and his parents are over seventy years old.

Asking him to carry the main beam in Xiangyang Commune, twenty miles away, was indeed a bit of a challenge.

Therefore, Section Chief Niu didn't make any definitive statements.

In the afternoon, Han Yuanhang returned home and placed the appointment notice on the table.

When his wife brought the food to the table, she saw the notice, picked it up, glanced at it, and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, Yuanhang, you've been promoted!"

"Yes, I got promoted, but it's a bit far from the county seat, about twenty miles away."

Han Yuanhang gave a wry smile.

A promotion is certainly a good thing, but his wife is in poor health, his parents are old, and his two children are still young. If he goes to work in such a far place, he won't be able to take care of his family anymore, and then the burden of the family will fall entirely on his wife's shoulders.

He glanced at his wife and felt a pang of guilt.

"What's wrong with twenty miles? This is the organization's trust in you. Go ahead and do your best. I'll take good care of things at home."

After reading the appointment notice, Han's wife put it down and smiled encouragingly.

She knew that Han Yuanhang had been working diligently and conscientiously in the Education Bureau for more than ten years, but had never had the opportunity for promotion, and had long been harboring resentment.

Now, the opportunity has come. She doesn't want to hold her husband back because of herself or her family.

"But you're in poor health, your two children are still young, and your parents are getting old. To be honest, I've been waiting for this opportunity for many years, but I'm worried about your family. I don't think you can handle things on your own."

"Who says I can't handle it? I may be physically weak, but I'm not so weak that I can't carry anything. My two children aren't three years old anymore; one is six and the other is eight. They can already go to the grocery store at the end of the alley to help me buy soy sauce."

"Although my parents are old, they are still quite healthy. When the weather is warm, they go out for a walk every morning and evening and don't come back for a long time."

"Yuanhang, I know you. You're family-oriented, but this is a rare opportunity. If you miss it this time, you'll never have another chance."

It is often said that those involved are often confused, while bystanders see things clearly.

As an outsider, Han's wife saw things more clearly than Han Yuanhang.

Han Yuanhang had been a junior staff member at his unit for fifteen years. When he turned thirty-five, the bureau suddenly gave him more responsibilities, which was actually a rare opportunity.

However, if he doesn't take on this responsibility because of family reasons, then he will be letting down the organization's expectations of him.

At that point, he will be labeled as unfit for any job, and he will be stuck as a low-level clerk for the rest of his life, and may even be marginalized in his workplace.

Han Yuanhang was instantly brought to his senses by his wife's analysis.
