Hunting 81: Gathering Goods in the Mountains, I Spoil My Ex-Wife to the Extreme

A group of wild boars appeared in the yellow mud gully covered with snow.

This group of wild boars consisted of two adult wild boars and eleven piglets.

Upon arriving at Huangnigou, two large wild boars cautiously looked around, while the smaller wild boars immediately used their long snouts to push aside the snow covering them and then began to eat the grass stems buried in the ground.

"What a pity. If we had hidden over there, we would have been much closer to these wild boars."

Seeing the wild boar stop to nibble on the grass stems buried in the snow, Li Yunshan shrank back and couldn't help but feel sorry for it.

Judging from the current distance, he and Gao Hongmei are at least 200 meters away from the wild boar. With the range of the Mosin-Nagant, it's certainly not a problem for them to hit it.

Even with a new barrel, accuracy cannot be guaranteed at such a distance.

Because the bullets are affected by gravity, air resistance, shooting angle, wind force, etc.

At this moment, the mountain wind was howling, with a wind speed of at least level three or four.

With such strong winds, even Li Yunshan's marksmanship wouldn't guarantee a hit from this distance.

Moreover, judging from Gao Hongmei's appearance, she wanted to kill both of the large wild boars.

Even with winds of force 3 or 4 and a distance of more than 200 meters, Li Yunshan wasn't 100% confident he could take down both wild boars in one go.

However, he couldn't do anything about the wild boars since they wouldn't come closer, because there was an open area in front of him, and the wild boars would see him as soon as he left his hiding place.

"Why didn't you find a closer place earlier?" Gao Hongmei's eyes were no longer red. She glared at Li Yunshan and said irritably.

"Please, I don't have the ability to predict the future. How would I know the wild boars were so far away?"

Li Yunshan couldn't help but complain endlessly.

It was Gao Hongmei who pestered him to learn hunting, it was Gao Hongmei who made him go into the mountains to hunt wild boars, and it was Gao Hongmei who complained about him in the end. Why is it that whenever there is a problem, it is always his problem, and he is always the one who takes the blame?

"What do you think, if we sneak over there quietly? If we're careful, the wild boar might not notice us."

Gao Hongmei nudged Li Yunshan with her elbow and lowered her voice.

"We're two or three hundred meters away from them, with nowhere to hide. Do you think wild boars are stupid? That they can't see two grown men like us?"

"Do you believe that if we crouch down and go out, the wild boars will spot us in a matter of seconds, and then they'll immediately take off running? Once the wild boars realize that there are people around here, they won't come back for three to five days, or even a very long time."

"By then, you won't even get a single wild boar hair, let alone a wild boar."

Li Yunshan glanced at Gao Hongmei and thought her idea was a bit far-fetched.

"What should we do then? Are we just going to wait here? What if the wild boar doesn't come this way? Then we've just wasted our time!"

Upon hearing this, Gao Hongmei immediately became anxious.

In her eyes, what was two or three hundred meters away was not only a group of wild boars, but also walking piles of real gold and silver. She couldn't wait to catch them all.

If we could really catch all these wild boars and sell them all, we could probably pay off all the debts we owed to Li Yunshan.

But she also knew that the idea of wiping out the entire wild boar herd was unrealistic; she would be satisfied if she could kill the two large wild boars.

But now, Li Yunshan says the distance is too far, and he's not confident he can hit both of the big wild boars.

To improve your hit rate, you have to get close to that herd of wild boars.

The problem is that they are in front of an open field with no cover. If they go out, they will definitely be spotted by wild boars and scared them away.

This is truly a situation where it's difficult to advance or retreat.

"Let's wait a bit longer. You have to be patient when hunting, you know? The wild boars have only been here for a short while. Maybe they'll come over here and start eating the grass roots in the snow."

Seeing Gao Hongmei's anxiety, Li Yunshan was also anxious. In this freezing cold and icy weather, he didn't want to stay here and wait for the wild boar to come to him.

If it were spring or summer, when vegetation is lush, he would have already taken advantage of the bushes and grass to sneak past them if he encountered such a group of wild boars.

But it's winter now, and not only are the grass and trees withered, but the entire mountain is covered in snow, making it hard to find even a place to shelter from the wind.

Therefore, even though he was anxious, Li Yunshan could only suppress his impatience and restrain Gao Hongmei.

Because you can't rush things, hunting is inherently a test of patience.

"Damn it!"

Gao Hongmei couldn't help but curse, then obediently lay down next to Li Yunshan, her eyes fixed on the group of wild boars in the distance.

Seeing that Gao Hongmei was patient, Li Yunshan didn't say anything more and focused on keeping an eye on the group of wild boars.

The cold mountain wind howled, and the group of wild boars happily munched on the grass in the snow. The two adult wild boars, after cautiously watching their surroundings for a while and finding no danger, also lowered their guard and began to nibble on the grass in the snow.

However, while munching on the grass stems, they would occasionally raise their heads and look around.

"Hey, Li Yunshan, can we sneak over here quietly?"

Seeing that the two wild boars had also started to nibble on the grass, Gao Hongmei couldn't contain her excitement and began to get restless.

"Wait a little longer. Do you think the wild boars will suddenly become less wary? They will still look up and observe their surroundings from time to time, and they will run away as soon as they spot us."

Li Yunshan placed his hand on her shoulder, pressing down on Gao Hongmei, who was itching to move.

"Tch, I don't believe it." Gao Hongmei pouted, but just then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw that the two wild boars that had just lowered their heads to nibble on grass stems actually raised their heads.

"Wow, it's true."

Gao Hongmei muttered a curse in a low voice.

"I told you so, but you didn't believe me. Now you do." Li Yunshan glanced at her sideways.

"Hey, how did you know? I've never seen you go hunting in the mountains before, how do you know so much about it?"

"I didn't go hunting in the mountains before because I was lazy. Actually, I'm very smart. I learn everything quickly, I understand things very easily, and I can apply what I've learned to other situations."

Li Yunshan couldn't help but boast.

"I don't believe you for a second."

Gao Hongmei rolled her eyes and said irritably, "You think you're so smart? Why didn't you have the same sense when I advised you not to hang out with Yu Ergou?"

Li Yunshan was speechless for a moment, not knowing what to say.

Seeing that he was speechless, Gao Hongmei felt a little smug: "Speak up, why aren't you saying anything?"

Li Yunshan rolled his eyes, thinking to himself, what the hell can I say?

Anyway, whenever the topic of divorce comes up, he's always the one in the wrong.

Seeing Li Yunshan's somewhat guilty look, Gao Hongmei felt a sense of ease and smugness.

After observing for a while, Li Yunshan noticed that after the wild boars finished eating the grass stems in the snow, the two large wild boars led their cubs away.

"Did the wild boar spot us, which is why it's running away?"

Seeing that the wild boar had moved, Gao Hongmei hurriedly asked.

"They're not that easy to run away from. I think there should be a lot of grass stalks in the snow nearby. The wild boars have eaten all of that, but they've just moved to the nearby snow to continue scavenging. Let's wait and see where they move to. Maybe they'll run this way to us."

Li Yunshan explained.

Only a novice like Gao Hongmei would assume a wild boar was about to run away just because it moved.

If there were many grass stems where the wild boar had just been munching, would the wild boar have been willing to run away in this icy, snowy environment with scarce food?

After they finish eating the grass stems in one place, they will definitely look for new grass stems nearby to gnaw on.

Gao Hongmei gave Li Yunshan a deep look, but she noticed that his gaze never left the group of wild boars.

His eyes followed the herd of wild boars wherever they went.

The wild boars circled around the area, rooted around in the snow but found no grass, and then headed straight towards the direction where Li Yunshan and Gao Hongmei were hiding.

Seeing this, Gao Hongmei couldn't help but get excited.

"Look, look! Wild boars are coming this way!"

As the wild boar drew closer, Gao Hongmei couldn't help but whisper something and patted Li Yunshan on the shoulder.

"Calm down. Aren't you afraid of making a commotion and scaring the wild boar away?"

Li Yunshan didn't even glance at her, his eyes fixed on the group of moving homeowners, his Mosin-Nagant already quietly set up.

Gao Hongmei immediately fell silent.

If she made a commotion and scared the wild boar away, wouldn't she have endured this long in the freezing mountains?

"So what do we do later?"

Gao Hongmei followed suit, quietly setting up her hunting rifle and whispering a question to Li Yunshan.

"Once the wild boar gets close, I'll tell you the range. If it's within the range of your shotgun, aim and fire. If it stops outside the range, I'll take care of it."

"I'm a little nervous, what should I do?"

"What can we do? Just let it be. At a time like this, what good does it do to tell me you're nervous?"

Li Yunshan laughed irritably.

Just then, the herd of wild boars got closer and closer to where they were hiding.

They stopped when they were less than 50 meters away from where Li Yunshan and Gao Hongmei were hiding.

As soon as the little wild boars stopped, they began to root for food in groups of three or five, while the two adult wild boars cautiously observed their surroundings.

"Within fifty meters of range, you aim at the smaller wild boar, and I'll shoot the bigger one."

"Remember, this Tiger Head brand shotgun is a double-barreled shotgun with two bullets inside. If you miss the first shot, you still have a second bullet to fire."

Li Yunshan spoke quietly with Gao Hongmei.

"Okay, I'll do as you say."

Gao Hongmei nodded solemnly, and quietly aimed the muzzle of her Tiger Head brand hunting rifle at the slightly smaller wild boar.
