Reborn in 1993, Dark Sea

Chapter 364 The Sealed Secret

"I've already told you what happened before, so I won't repeat myself. Let me continue the story from where we left off."

An Zhenhua stopped and looked out the window, his gaze softening as if he were reminiscing about his lost youth. An Xiaohai didn't disturb him, but simply waited quietly by his side.

After a long pause, An Zhenhua spoke again:

"After my relentless pursuit, Yu Jiao finally agreed to be with me. From the very beginning, Yu Jiao was under tremendous pressure."

Her superiors and comrades-in-arms have been repeatedly trying to persuade her to give up on me and leave me.

I don't hate these people. I understand that they genuinely care about Yu Jiao and are afraid that my identity will be a burden to her. However, they also have their own ulterior motives!

Xiao Hai, do you know that your grandma, Yu Jiao, was incredibly beautiful when she was young? Many young men secretly admired her.

Yu Jiao was very stubborn. Once she made up her mind, she ultimately chose to be with me.

Xiao Hai, do you know how excited I was when Yu Jiao accepted my proposal? ...I can't explain it, I just felt like I had boundless energy!

I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, and was restless. I kept running around the small lake by the farm, running 36 laps before I finally collapsed to the ground, completely exhausted.

My face was pressed against the mud, panting and grinning like an idiot, my heart was filled with happiness!

On our wedding day, very few people came; it was quiet and deserted. But we didn't care. We embraced each other as if we had the whole world!

In order to avoid affecting Yu Jiao as much as possible, I worked hard and actively reformed myself. No matter what I did, I was always at the forefront. No matter how hard or difficult it was, I persevered and never complained.

Life seemed to be getting better day by day.

Not long after, fighting broke out in North Korea, and the United States invaded, shocking and enraging the entire nation!

The people of the whole country were filled with righteous indignation, worked hard, produced with all their might, and donated money and supplies to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea!

The bugle sounded once again, and the army assembled once more.

Yu Jiao signed up immediately, but she was the one who shouldn't have been rejected. There was no reason, and no one offered her an explanation.

Yu Jiao and I both knew in our hearts that it was still because of me.

On the day the troops departed, Yu Jiao stood by the roadside to see them off.

Amidst the surging crowds and stirring battle songs, she appeared utterly alone. The troops had long since departed, yet Yu Jiao remained standing by the roadside, gazing in the direction they had gone, motionless from morning till night.

I stood behind Yu Jiao, watching her back, guarding her from sunrise to sunset.

Originally, I thought Yu Jiao would be sad for a long time, but God gave us a surprise at this time: Yu Jiao was pregnant.

I finally saw Yu Jiao again, her smile as beautiful as a flower!

Ten months later, our love blossomed – twins, a pair of boys! Haha! I was so happy I was almost going crazy, and I started running around the lake again.

This time, however, I didn't exhaust myself. I still had to take care of Yu Jiao and the two newborn babies.

When it came time to name our children, I asked Yu Jiao, "What names should we give our children?" Yu Jiao said, "Let's call them An Hao and An Ran. If we have more children in the future, we'll name the boy An Zheng and the girl An Qi."

The four siblings standing together exude an aura of righteousness!

I think these names are all good! But Yu Jiao is still not satisfied. She said that these names lack a certain elegance and asked me to change them again.

Actually, my family used to be quite large. I belong to the Zhe generation, so I shouldn't be called An Zhenhua. But my father, your great-grandfather, witnessed the Japanese invasion, the devastation of our land, and the peril of our nation!

Therefore, my father changed my name to Zhenhua, hoping that I would devote myself to the revolution, restore our homeland, and revitalize China in the future!

I have always followed my father's teachings, worked hard, and been ready to serve my country at all times. But fate played a trick on me, and I ended up choosing the wrong side.

Let's not talk about that anymore...

When my two children were born, China had been unified and the country was revitalized. I thought it best to continue the family's generational naming system, so I added the generational names that should have belonged to me to my two children's names.

The names of the two children were thus decided: the older brother, An Zhehao, and the younger brother, An Zheran.

However, fate played a little joke on us. When we went to the police station to register our names, the two children suddenly started making a scene, and no matter how we tried to coax them, we couldn't calm them down.

As first-time parents, we had no one to guide us, and in our panic, we registered the names incorrectly. The older brother became An Zheran, and the younger brother became An Zhehao. By the time we realized it, the registration was already completed.

Yu Jiao said, "It's alright. Since it's fate, then so be it!"

So we didn't ask to register again, and each of us took one child home.

With two more mouths to feed, life suddenly became much more hectic.

At that time, the Korean War was still ongoing, and natural disasters struck one after another. The people of the whole country gritted their teeth and continued to move forward amidst this profound suffering.

Yu Jiao and I leaned on each other and encouraged one another, and finally we got through that difficult period.

No matter how hard life gets, as long as you watch your two children grow up day by day, all the hardships seem to be nothing.

We made it through! We finally made it through! Whether facing war or natural disasters, we won!

But who could have imagined that something unexpected was waiting for us ahead?

Late July of that year was the time for rushing to harvest and plant crops.

I remember that day very clearly. I had finished harvesting the rice and returned it to the production brigade. Just as I was about to head home, the production brigade leader called me to his office.

My identity was questioned, and I faced round after round of investigations. My worst fears came true: Yu Jiao was implicated and forced to leave her beloved job, spending her days in a home that could no longer provide her with warmth.

In her worst moments, Yu Jiao could only find two barely usable bowls. She went to the field to pick some vegetables, used the smashed furniture to make a fire, and cooked dinner for her family.

This is just the beginning.

People came to my house in waves: brigade leaders, township leaders, town leaders, county leaders, military leaders... one wave after another.

These people came to my house with only one purpose: to persuade Yu Jiao to sever ties with me.

Yu Jiao remained silent, clenching her teeth tightly, refusing to nod.

I advised Yu Jiao to leave me with the child, but she refused, saying that we had a clear conscience and that she believed in the Party and the country.

then……

Forget it, I'm not going to talk about it anymore... I don't want to remember it anymore...

I still can't understand how Yu Jiao and I got through that! But in the end, we made it through, we finally made it through!

After experiencing that catastrophe, Yu Jiao was like a different person. She was no longer the spirited guerrilla captain who recited battle poems, faced life and death with a smile, and denounced the enemy.

Yu Jiao finally became an ordinary little woman.

I don't care, as long as our family is still together, that's enough! I will take good care of Yu Jiao and take good care of her for the rest of my life.

But Yu Jiao and I made it through. However, our two children changed. They changed subtly, and in the end, one became a coward, while the other became a vicious wolf!
