Reborn in 2006, I met Mr. Zhou from the past.

Chapter 56: Royalties Received, New Book Launches

The father and his two daughters had a simple lunch. After the meal, Su Fengnan spread out the map and studied it for a while, then changed her mind.

"Dad, let's go home. We can come to the library another day; there's no rush."

Su Guoyuan was somewhat puzzled: "Since we're already here, let's go in and take a look!"

"Dad, we're carrying our laptops, so it's inconvenient to store them. Besides, it's noon now, and we don't know if they're even open. Let's just go home."

Su Fengnan said this, but she actually had other plans in mind. She wanted to get back as soon as possible to sort out the security network issue, and besides, she wasn't sure if the library would be open at noon. Logically, it should be open, but she preferred to go alone when it was quiet.

"Xiaoxia, what about you? Do you want to go home?" Su Guoyuan turned to ask his youngest daughter.

Su Fengxia glanced at her sister, then at her father, and sighed inwardly: "Hmph, I can't afford to offend either of you." But she said aloud, "I'm fine with either of you."

Su Fengnan gently advised, "Dad, let's go back. You can come with me next time. Besides, when we get back, I'll need your help to contact someone to see if we can get internet access at our place. If we can't connect to the internet, we won't be able to use the computer even if we bring it back!"

Upon hearing that he couldn't connect to the internet, Su Guoyuan immediately wavered: "Fine, let's go home then."

The father and his two daughters then headed home. The sun was blazing on the way back, and the lightness of their journey was gone. They had to rest again halfway there, and it took them more than an hour to get home.

As soon as he entered the house, Su Guoyuan rushed off to the factory without even taking a break. Su Fengnan specifically told him to keep the computer matter low-key, and he kept that in mind before hurrying off. After all, the house they lived in belonged to the boss, and getting internet access depended on the boss's wishes.

Su Fengxia went straight to take a nap. Su Fengnan wanted to rest, but the surging inspiration for stories made her pick up her pen again. In the past few days, her not-so-thick notebook was almost full.

That evening, the family sat down for dinner. During the meal, Su Guoyuan finally revealed what he had learned.

"The boss said it can connect to the internet and even helped me contact someone to come and install it first thing tomorrow morning."

"Dad, your boss is a nice guy, he even helped make the connection," Su Fengxia said.

"Our boss is really good to his employees; he never delays paying wages. If you have any difficulties, just tell him, and he'll help you."

Su Fengnan picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and asked casually, "Dad, how many years have you been working for him?"

Su Guoyuan did the math: "It's been three years."

"If you quit, will he let you go?"

"Well... let's talk about it later!"

Su Fengnan's probing didn't get a definite answer, but she wasn't in a hurry. She figured that once she achieved something, her father wouldn't be able to sit still.

The installation technician arrived shortly after nine o'clock the next morning. Su Fengnan deliberately hid her laptop and only used her desktop computer for internet access. She paid a year's fee upfront, totaling 720 yuan.

She bought another three-meter-long network cable from the repairman and connected it to her laptop from the router. The only downside was that this meant she could only access the internet on the first floor.

As soon as the internet was connected, Su Fengxia immediately took over the desktop computer.

Su Fengnan logged into her QQ account immediately. As soon as she logged in, the notification sounds started ringing incessantly. She first checked Ning Xiaojun's messages.

"Susu, the report cards are out, and you're first in the class! I'm telling you, even the teachers were surprised that you got first place this time. Some classmates didn't believe it and thought you cheated."

"Are you having fun over there? Is it hot?"

"Sigh, I've started tutoring. I wish you were here."

Su Fengnan replied briefly: "Okay, it's hot."

Then I opened Editor Song's message.

"Xinyuan, the payment for the manuscript has been deposited into your account. Please check."

"Has the outline for the new book been released yet? When can we finally see it?"

Upon seeing Song's message, Su Fengnan immediately replied: "I've received the payment. Song, I'll send out the outline tomorrow."

Editor Song was overjoyed to see Xinyuan online and immediately replied, "Finally caught you!"

"Yeah, it's not convenient to go online these days."

"The Return is over, time to prepare for the next one."

"Yes, I will."

"Oh right, a publisher contacted me. Wait for good news."

"Ah... okay."

Has the publisher found us so quickly? If it gets published... Su Fengnan shook her head, not daring to think too much, and simply waited for good news.

After closing the two chat windows, Su Fengnan finally opened Zhou Chenyu's message.

"Good afternoon, Su! Dr. Chen will be staying in Zijiang for a while longer and won't be leaving for the time being. You can come for a follow-up appointment anytime after you finish your Chinese medicine."

Looking at the message sent yesterday, Su Fengnan thought to herself: Zhou Chenyu sent it precisely when I was taking my medicine. Three doses of medicine, one dose lasts two days, exactly six days. He's so thoughtful!

"Thank you, Brother Zhou. I'm not in Zijiang for now; I won't be back until the start of the semester. If Dr. Chen is still here then, I'll go and ask him for a follow-up appointment. Thank you again!"

Since sending the message yesterday, Zhou Chenyu had been checking her phone every now and then, but hadn't received a reply, so she couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.

This morning, while he was processing work emails on his computer, he suddenly heard a "beep" sound and saw the animated cartoon avatar. His expression immediately relaxed. However, upon clicking on it, his brows furrowed slightly again.

"Where did you go?"

Su Fengnan didn't expect him to reply so quickly, so she had no choice but to explain where she had gone.

"My parents work in another city, so I came to stay with them. I'll go back when school starts."

"Are you going there to work a summer job?"

Uh... what's going on? Why is Brother Zhou asking so many questions? Su Fengnan inwardly groaned.

"I'm considering it. I'll look into it in the next couple of days, and if it's suitable, I'll do it."

Seeing Su Fengnan's reply, Zhou Chenyu originally wanted to give her some advice, but after thinking for a moment, she said nothing and only replied, "Take care of yourself."

"Yes, thank you."

Su Fengnan breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, Zhou Chenyu didn't press the matter further.

With a computer, Su Fengnan's work became much more convenient. The home was quiet and undisturbed, making her extremely efficient, and the laptop keyboard made typing less tiring on her fingers.

In just one morning, in a little over two hours, she had already finished typing the first half of the story.

Lunch was prepared by Su Fengxia; it was a simple meal of four dishes and a soup, yet it exuded a warm, homely atmosphere.

The moneywort and black chicken soup on the table was specially stewed by Su Fengnan. At first, she was worried about what to stew to nourish her father's body, but then she caught a glimpse of a large bag of moneywort on the shelf and had an idea. When she went grocery shopping, she casually picked up an old hen.

After a hearty lunch, Wen Xiaofen and Su Guoyuan went back to their room for a nap. Su Fengnan, however, didn't rest and dragged Su Fengxia straight to the town's telecommunications office.

At the counter, Su Fengnan readily bought two PHS phones and two M-Zone data plans, spending a total of 1,034 yuan.

"Sister, this is too expensive!" Su Fengxia exclaimed, looking at the more than 1,000 yuan.

Su Fengnan, however, saw things clearly. She knew that mobile phones were being updated very quickly these days, and for them, a basic mobile phone with low radiation and long standby time was more than enough for making and receiving calls. Besides, she was a student now, and there was no need to pursue those expensive phones costing thousands of yuan; practicality was the key.

One was for themselves, and the other was naturally for their mother. After getting their communication devices, the two sisters headed to the appliance store in town.
