King of Capital: From Unemployment to the Pinnacle of Life

But on the document in Qi Yue'er's hand was a still from an ancient costume TV series from more than 20 years ago, and the female lead in the photo... was none other than my mother, Qiao Yunshu.

The information included my mother's name in the female lead section, along with details about the director, crew, and investors. I noticed that Song's Capital was listed there.

I frowned and glanced at Qi Yue'er, but she remained calm, still wearing a sincere and 'friendly' smile...

"Boss Song, this is an old movie from over twenty years ago. It was incredibly popular back then..."

Qi Yue'er smiled and said, "But halfway through filming, the female lead suddenly quit. There was nothing we could do... The director had to find another actress to replace her... But, since it wasn't the original actress, the ratings plummeted, and the whole series ended badly. Half a year ago, your father, the former chairman, approached our Yunyue Film Investment Company, asking us to remake this film, requesting that it be made into a trilogy of theatrical films. He promised to invest 10 billion yuan and said that if it could be made well, he would continue to invest in our company... Uh, well, I need to explain here. Our Yunyue Investment Company usually does both film investment and production... We found the original director and also held auditions to find an actress who looks extremely similar to the original female lead. Filming has been going on for three or four months..."

Keep it brief and to the point!

I frowned and said, "Stop rambling on..."

"Well......"

Qi Yue'er's hands, gripping the hem of her clothes nervously, clenched slightly. She swallowed hard and murmured, "The old chairman agreed to invest... but the money keeps getting delayed. Initially, he positioned this project as a top-tier theatrical blockbuster, requiring us to invest 700 million upfront... Mr. Song, you know, for a blockbuster like this, 700 million is just the production cost. There's also marketing and distribution; the amount is unpredictable. We're currently facing a severe cash crunch..."

"It's only seven hundred million..."

I sneered, "I thought you were running an investment company and couldn't even afford to cover 700 million?"

"Uh..."

Qi Yue'er looked nervous: "Boss Song... as you know, we're an investment company, so we can't just invest in this one movie. We have many other projects, and the return on investment takes time... Initially, we agreed to advance the funds for it because we thought the old chairman's money would arrive quickly, and also... to be honest, we hoped to connect with Song's Capital's funding pool to plan for long-term development. However, Song's Capital's money hasn't arrived yet, and we've already poured in our working capital... Now the entire company's operations are a bit passive, so..."

She looked at me with a flustered and embarrassed expression, her eyes filled with pleading...

At first, when I saw the stills of my mother in the drama, I thought that Qi Yue'er might be deliberately trying to 'provoke' or 'disgust' me...

In retrospect, she didn't have that kind of scheming; she was simply fooled by Song Guolong's empty promises...

Now that they're short on funds and in a hurry, they've come to me.

"Boss Song, you know..."

Seeing me staring at her coldly without speaking, she swallowed hard and continued muttering, "No company goes bankrupt from losses; they all die from a broken cash flow. Seven hundred million isn't a lot... but other film projects take time to recoup their investment. We're really in dire straits right now..."

"I see......"

I nodded, and said meaningfully, "But, Mr. Qi... I could understand what you were saying if it were any other partner... but what does your family do? Your husband is the owner of Jing Sheng Investment Bank. If he wants to raise funds, isn't that a simple matter? My father's money hasn't arrived yet, can't your husband lend him some money first? It's only been a few months, is it really necessary to be in such a hurry?"

"This...this?" Qi Yue'er looked embarrassed, biting her lip, her eyes full of difficulty.

I paused for a moment and continued, "Yesterday... Mr. Xiao from Juneng Technology even came to Zhaohua to discuss financing. Your family isn't short of money."

"President Song!"

Qi Yue'er's eyes reddened slightly, and she said awkwardly and aggrievedly, "Well... the Hu family does have assets, but what we need is cash flow... Moreover, Hu Zhaojun is in charge of all the Hu family's loan projects, and there are many conflicts between us. He refuses to lend me a single penny. As for other financing methods... Hu Zhaohua controls them too. Both siblings dislike me... So, I came early, hoping to discuss this with you directly... If they were here, they'd be waiting to see me make a fool of myself..."

She paused, then continued, "As for Lao Hu... he can't control his children either. The fact that he asked me to come to you alone shows that he doesn't want to spend the money, doesn't it? Boss Song, you have to help me this time, no matter what. Otherwise, not only will this film be stillborn, but our company will also be unable to continue..."

Humans are animals that love to lie!

Everyone has their own version and explanation of the same thing.

Hu Zhaohua said that Qi Yue'er was "all-powerful" in the Hu family, even more powerful than Daji back then, leaving the brother and sister with no room to live.

But in front of me, Qi Yue'er... once again adopted the persona of a submissive, submissive wife...

However, it doesn't matter who is real and who is fake...

The core objective is to get money!

Seeing that I still looked completely uninterested, Qi Yue'er pleaded again, her voice filled with grievance, "Boss Song, investing in our company... the old chairman promised, what do you think?"

"My dad promised? Ha!"

I gave a cold laugh: "Where's the evidence? Is there a written agreement?"

"this......!"

Qi Yue'er was stunned. "No...no! What kind of person is the old chairman? His word is law, we all trust him, so...we didn't sign any agreement! Boss Song, my husband can testify, the old chairman really did promise! Boss Song, please...I can't contact the old chairman now, I heard he's not in good health, but our company is really about to collapse..."

"Uh...uh..."

I looked at her with amusement and asked with a smile, "How much are you planning to get?"

"Seven hundred million!"

Qi Yue'er looked up at me excitedly, her big, watery eyes so beautiful they were heartbreaking: "Boss Song, I'm not an unreasonable person! The old chairman promised to invest 1 billion, but I don't need that much all at once. Could you please give me the 700 million we've already invested so our company can get started... We'll continue to advance the money for the rest, and we'll talk about it after the film is released... Boss Song, is that alright?"

"hehe!"

I chuckled dismissively, "Mr. Qi, to be honest... seven hundred million or eight hundred million is nothing to Song's Capital. My dad wanting you to make a movie... that might just be his personal passion, but the problem is... I don't have that kind of passion. Men our age are more interested in investing in games. You can't expect me to invest in a project I have absolutely no interest in, can you? Besides... my dad saying he'd invest in you is just your side of the story; you can't provide any written proof!"

"Boss Song!" Qi Yue'er looked at me with shock and despair.

"Stop!"

I waved my hand: "Don't say your husband can testify. Your husband is family; of course he can testify for you!"

Seeing my cold-bloodedness, Qi Yue'er's eyes seemed to be veiled in mist, and her eyelashes trembled...

"As the saying goes, 'A new emperor, a new court...'"

I laughed and said, "For my dad's affairs, you should contact him. If you want to talk to me about investment, you should discuss projects that interest me..."

"Boss Song..."

Qi Yue'er's brows furrowed in distress, her voice trembling with tears: "Why are you making things difficult for me? We all know the old chairman is in poor health... and he's nowhere to be seen right now. What are we supposed to do?"

"Ha! Are you stupid!"

I laughed and said, "It's all about investing, so why don't you ask me what I'm interested in? Maybe... if one door closes, another opens! Like I said, money... isn't the issue!"

Upon hearing my words, Qi Yue'er's eyes lit up instantly, but then dimmed again with confusion...

"Mr. Song... Mr. Song, what projects are you interested in?"

Qi Yue'er pursed her lips, looking at me with a mixture of expectation and self-doubt, and asked, "As long as it's within my professional capabilities... I will definitely find a way to do it well for you!"

"hehe!"

I smiled faintly, took off my shoes, revealing my feet, and lightly brushed against her stockinged ankles, saying meaningfully, "Boss Qi, you're really beautiful! To be honest... you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life..."

"what?"

Upon seeing me like this, Qi Yue'er trembled in shock, staring at me with wide eyes. Then she looked down at my feet, her brows furrowing in tension. However... her ankle didn't flinch, letting my toes gently scrape against it... and her hand instinctively covered her lower abdomen.

I think... Song Huazhao on the other end of the surveillance camera must have seen this scene too...

She always figured me out perfectly... treating me like I was invisible.

They can even come up with a trope like "Little Bee"!

This time... I deliberately chose to take an unconventional approach, leaving Song Huazhao unable to guess what I was thinking.

Anyway, no matter how much trouble things get into, she'll clean up the mess for me, so what am I afraid of?
