Chapter 118 Thunder Lion Snow Ape Clan
Two weeks later.
Deep in the snow-capped mountains, a group of three people were flying close to the ground above the snow. The sky was a hazy gray, and the sunlight in the sky was obscured by the swirling snow.
At this moment, the old knight suddenly raised his hand to signal to stop, and finally landed quietly, his body hunched over after landing.
Wayne and Aurora followed suit, approaching the old knight. Wayne lowered his voice and asked:
"Sir, what's wrong?"
The old knight pointed ahead and explained in a low voice, "There are snow apes lying in their den."
Wayne looked up.
Ahead, on the hillside, were snowdrifts of varying sizes. Wayne noticed that they were undulating slightly, and if the old knight hadn't pointed it out, he probably would have thought they were rocks covered in snow.
At this moment, Aurora drew her greatsword and said softly, "Old sir, should we charge in or what?"
Upon hearing this, the old knight's face darkened, and he looked at Aurora with a hint of exasperation: "I know we knights aren't the brightest, but we can't be this reckless. Those snow apes are a whole tribe; how many can we three possibly kill?"
Then, looking at Wayne with some confusion, he said, "I've been here before, when did a snow-capped mountain appear here?"
Without giving it much thought, the old knight continued, "Moreover, although we have encountered snow apes here before, there have never been so many of them."
"I suspect we're close to where those escaped adventurers left off."
Wayne didn't rush to speak. He observed carefully and looked down the hillside. All he could see was endless white snow. Even if there had been any clues before, they had probably been covered by the heavy snow.
Until Aurora said something.
"Young master, there's a horde of monsters."
Wayne frowned slightly and looked in the direction Aurora pointed. He saw a group of magical beasts of various colors emerging in the distance from the snowfield, and they were coming from this direction.
"Walk."
At that moment, the old knight's voice rang out, and the instant his voice fell, the old knight began to climb towards the mountaintop.
Wayne and Aurora exchanged a glance and then began to climb upwards.
After a while.
On the leeward side of the mountaintop, Wayne and his two companions lay there, looking at the snowdrifts on the opposite hillside. Only then, with their bird's-eye view, could they see the snowdrifts clearly.
Not only were there countless snow mounds on the opposite hillside when Wayne and the others were halfway up the mountain, but there were also mounds or snow apes lying in ambush on the leeward side in front of Wayne and the others, or even on the lower halfway down the mountain.
At that moment, a tremor sounded, and in just a short while, the horde of monsters that had been just emerging was now right in front of them.
Something's not right.
Hearing the old knight's voice, Wayne looked at the old knight, who then continued.
"Warcraft is an extremely domineering species, each with its own territory. Even members of the same kind may kill each other. The warcraft horde in front of us is obviously composed of many different races, yet they have united together. This is very strange."
The words fell.
Wayne recalled the Beastmaster.
"Could it be that a demon king has appeared deep within the snow-capped mountains?"
The old knight shook his head upon hearing this: "It's hard to say, but if that's the case, then we'll have no choice but to retreat."
"At the same time, I will report the news to Cloudsea City and ask the lord to send someone to investigate."
The old knight sighed softly as he spoke.
"But I hope your guess doesn't come true, otherwise many people in the outer area will probably die."
He then turned his gaze toward the horde of monsters charging toward them.
It was at this very moment.
On a giant rock at the bottom of the valley, brilliant ice-blue elements suddenly gathered and manifested, and tiny tornado-like elemental magic energy finally converged on the giant rock.
Wayne was drawn to look over, and upon closer inspection, he saw a magical plant that was entirely ice-blue, with a small, ice-blue, thumb-sized fruit hanging from its branch.
Seeing this, Wayne glanced at the surging horde of monsters, then at the ambush of the snow ape clan, and all the information converged into a single line.
"Not the Beast King."
Upon hearing this, the old knight, who was still worried, immediately looked at Wayne. Wayne explained, "It's the Snow Ape clan hunting. Look what that is."
Upon hearing this, the old knight, who had been sitting and worried, jumped up and climbed back up, looking at the spot Wayne had pointed to.
"Snow Ginseng?"
"It's definitely Snow Ginseng. I was fortunate enough to see it once before; this was a Grade 1 Snow Ginseng."
"The Snow Ape Clan uses this Snow Ginseng to hunt monster packs. The reason why the monster packs can gather together is that they know they can't defeat these Snow Apes in a one-on-one fight, so they unite."
Wayne nodded.
"That's right."
Just then, Aurora's voice rang out: "Young Master, shall I go down and retrieve it while the snow apes and the monster pack are fighting?"
Wayne shook his head.
"We'll talk about it later. Don't act rashly. No one knows if this group of snow apes and magical beasts are the only ones eyeing the Snow Ginseng. If there are other people or beasts like us, then all our efforts will be in vain."
"It's always good to be cautious."
As they spoke, the horde of monsters arrived in the valley, all of them targeting the Snow Ginseng.
Just as the horde of monsters had passed halfway through the valley, a roar echoed through the valley, and the snow apes, who had been disguised as snow buns, stood up and roared to the sky.
At the same time, he drew his weapon from the snow beside him and leaped up, smashing it down towards the horde of monsters below.
Soon came screams of agony, cries of madness, and a shower of blood and flesh.
Watching this scene, Wayne couldn't help but think to himself.
Being humanoid beings, their intelligence far surpasses that of those magical beasts; they are able to suppress their inner desires and use them to hunt.
At this moment, Aurora's voice rang out: "Young Master, look at the snowfield that has been torn apart by the battle between the magical beasts and the snow apes."
Wayne looked closely and saw that the snow had been swept away, revealing its true form: dark red bloodstains.
"It seems the snow ape clan has been hunting more than once."
.........
Three hours later.
Just when Wayne thought the curtain was about to fall, a roar resounded in all directions, and at the same time, countless lightning-attribute energy balls fell from the sky, crashing down into the valley.
In an instant.
The snow apes of the snow ape clan were charred black by the explosion, and blood splattered everywhere. At the same time, a huge figure appeared in Wayne's eyes.
A lion with a completely purple-blue body was seen floating in the air.
"Better to arrive at the right time than to arrive early. I, the King, will gladly accept the Snow Ginseng."
As he spoke, his figure blurred into afterimages and headed towards the boulder where the Snow Ginseng was located.
"Young Master, the Snow Ginseng is about to be stolen."
Before Wayne could reply, a colossal hand suddenly appeared, striking the purple-blue lion's body and sending it flying.
"When did a mere level five Thunder Lion become the king of the Thunder Lion clan?"
"How dare you call yourself 'King'?"
It was around this time.
The old knight was sweating profusely: "Wayne, we should retreat. This is the leader of the Snow Ape clan, it..."
"Our movements have probably been under its surveillance all along."
Wayne didn't rush to reply. Looking at the figure that was as tall as a mountain, Wayne wasn't afraid. Instead, he became interested in watching.
At the same time, he did not forget to comfort the old knight.
"It's alright."
"As long as it's not level seven, it's not a big problem."
He continued watching as he spoke.
