He forced me to sever ties with my family and sleep on a dilapidated boat, then turned around and be

Boss Zhou suddenly swung his fist.

"I really like these dried flounders. If we take them to Hong Kong Island, I guarantee they'll be in high demand at all the restaurants. We'll take any number, even more than seven thousand catties. So, Li Dezhi, how much are you planning to sell them to me for?"

Li Dezhi said with a smile, "Boss Zhou, we've been doing business together for quite a while now. Don't worry, I definitely won't overcharge you."

As he spoke, he held up five fingers and waved them.

"I'll only charge you 5 yuan per jin (500g)."

Boss Zhou immediately glared at Li Dezhi and pointed at him fiercely, his finger almost poking Li Dezhi's forehead.

"You, Li Dezhi, have a terrible conscience! Don't think I don't know. You buy fish from those fishermen under the name of the seafood company for seven or eight cents a pound, but how come you sell them to me for five dollars a pound?"

"How could you cheat me like this? Aren't you afraid I'll stop doing business with you?"

Li Dezhi said with a forced smile

"Boss Zhou, it's my skill to buy from the fishermen for a certain price, but I'm selling it to you for 5 yuan a pound, which is absolutely not expensive. If you resell it to Hong Kong Island and sell it to major hotels and markets, you'll probably make several times more."

He raised his hand and waved it back and forth in the air.

Boss Zhou chuckled.

"You seem to know quite a bit."

Li Dezhi said, "That's right. Take yellow butter crab for example. It's worthless in mainland China. People think it's rotten and smelly. But in Hong Kong, it's worth hundreds of dollars per catty."

"I believe that even if you buy these flounder from me for 5 dollars a catty, you can make a huge profit by selling them in Hong Kong Island. It could even be an astronomical figure, which is more than I could ever earn in my entire life."

"But I'm not greedy. I'll sell it to you for 5 yuan a pound, how about that?"

Boss Zhou scratched the back of his head, still hesitating.

Li Dezhi quickly pointed to the depths of the warehouse.

"Look, there are also big crabs and groupers over there. The big crabs go without saying, and look at the groupers, there are two tiger groupers and three rat groupers. Even in the inland areas, these kinds of groupers would sell for ten or twenty yuan per kilogram."

"Once we get to Hong Kong Island, it's even more incredible."

"But I'm very generous and want to do long-term business with Boss Zhou, so the crabs, groupers, and dried flounder are all the same price, 5 yuan per jin (500g). What do you think?"

"These crabs are all plump and weigh over half a pound each, full of roe and fat."

"It sells for more than 5 yuan per kilogram in mainland China, not to mention various kinds of grouper."

Boss Zhou thought for a moment, then clapped his thick palm.

"Okay, although it's a bit expensive for you to sell me these dried flounder for 5 yuan a catty, it's true what you said, I can make a profit by reselling them in Hong Kong. So I'll let you off the hook."

"If you put it all together, it'll be 5 yuan per jin (500g)."

Then, he turned his head and shouted outside.

"Hey, you guys over there, stop standing around! Come over here and take these fish down to the scale!"

There were already more than a dozen people outside, and upon hearing this, they quickly got to work.

Boss Zhou, Li Dezhi, and others jumped down from the cargo hold and stood nearby.

Boss Zhou also took out a large, exquisite box, opened the lid, and inside were several Cohiba cigars.

He picked up a cigar, handed it to Li Dezhi, and said with a smile, "Comrade Li Dezhi, this cigar of mine is very expensive. If you convert it to your mainland currency, it would cost more than 100 yuan a piece."

"Here, have a smoke."

Li Dezhi, with a bright smile, quickly took it.

The two men sat there smoking Cohiba cigars while watching the workers weigh the items.

That's pretty fast; they were all weighed in less than an hour.

Boss Zhou smiled and said, "That's great! Six thousand nine hundred and sixty-four catties of dried flounder, and three hundred catties of crabs and groupers. Okay, I'll round it up for you to seven thousand three hundred catties, five yuan per catty..."

As he spoke, he pulled out a calculator and started doing calculations.

"That's 36500 yuan in total."

Then, he snapped his fingers.

One of his men immediately brought over a briefcase with a combination lock and opened the lid.

What appeared inside were stacks of 10,000 yuan bills.

Instantly, it dazzled Li Dezhi's eyes.

He was so excited he almost jumped for joy.

Without spending a single penny, they acquired a whole truckload of dried flounder from someone and resold it for nearly 40,000 yuan.

These are four households with ten thousand yuan each. In 1984, this amount of money was quite substantial.

Boss Zhou appeared very generous.

"Li Dezhi, you take the money yourself. Anyway, this stack of money is 1000 yuan. You take it, and I'll count it."

Li Dezhi rubbed his hands together and said with a smile, "Boss Zhou, you're too generous. Then I won't stand on ceremony."

He quickly had his men bring him a handbag, and then kept reaching into the briefcase to take money.

one thousand!

two thousand!

……

Ten thousand!

Twenty thousand!

……

After taking a full thirty-six stacks, he picked up another stack and said with a smile, "Boss Zhou, you are a very generous person. You are always extremely generous when we do business together."

"So, I won't take out the remaining 500 bills from this stack of ten-yuan notes; give them all to me."

"Thirty-seven folds in total, that's a good omen! Three times seven, three times seven, a life of great success, what do you think?"

Boss Zhou laughed heartily and pointed at him.

"You're such a sly one, you managed to squeeze another 500 yuan out of me. Fine, fine, I won't hold it against you."

Boss Zhou is now overjoyed.

If you load this whole warehouse of fish onto a cargo ship and transport it to Hong Kong Island, you'll probably make more than ten times the money.

Therefore, he doesn't care about a little money.

With a ripping sound—

Li Dezhi zipped up the bag and slung the heavy shoulder bag over his shoulder.

This level of satisfaction is so great, even the gods in heaven would be envious.

He said, "Boss Zhou, hurry up and send the fish onto the boat. Have a safe journey. Give me a call when you get to Hong Kong Island."

Boss Zhou laughed heartily.

"Absolutely! When you get a permit, come visit me on Hong Kong Island. I'll treat you to a life of luxury, partying every night. Hong Kong Island is so much fun. Compared to it, the mainland has nothing, it's so boring."

This is also filled with a sense of superiority.

Li Dezhi also wore a forced smile.

"Okay, okay, I'll get the permit and come to Hong Kong Island to see you. You have to treat me to a good time, okay? I'll be going now."

Li Defa knew he couldn't stay there long, so once he got the money, he quickly left.

Although there are still some subordinates who need to be paid, and there are also things like bribing superiors and subordinates, the amount paid out is not much.

He could still make a net profit of at least 30000 yuan, which made him extremely happy, as he reached the pinnacle of his life.

Just then, a sharp shout suddenly came from not far away.

"You scoundrel Li Dezhi, you rotten bastard with sores on your head and pus oozing from your feet! You used the name of the seafood company to buy flounder from us for 8 cents a pound, then resold it to bosses in Hong Kong and made so much money!"

"Are you even human? I think not only are you not human, your whole family are not human, otherwise how could they have given birth to such a non-human thing like you!"
