He forced me to sever ties with my family and sleep on a dilapidated boat, then turned around and be

Niu Bayi smiled faintly.

"In that case, when is Boss Song planning to go out to sea to hunt sea turtles? Can you take me with you?"

boom!

A burly man slammed his hand on the table, making everything on it jump.

He grumbled, "Why should we bring you along? We've got enough manpower to make our own money. Why should we bring you along and let you take a share? There's no such thing as a free lunch!"

"What's the difference between you and someone who just walks into my door asking for money? You're not much better than a beggar!"

Niu Bayi and He Zhenzhen's expressions immediately changed.

He Zhenzhen immediately jumped out from behind Niu Bayi, ready to start cursing.

Niu Bayi tugged at her arm, signaling her to be quiet, then smiled slightly.

"Boss Song, your sea turtle hunting operation must require a lot of manpower. After all, in some ways, hunting sea turtles is much more difficult than fishing. Although sea turtles are clumsy, they are also very heavy."

"Putting everything else aside, just take sea turtles for example. Each one weighs tens or hundreds of kilograms, and it's not something one person can lift. I want to go out to sea with you to hunt sea turtles, not just play around on the sidelines."

"I'll do any job you ask me to do."

"What do you say?"

Old Song clapped his hands.

"Brother Niu is right. I do need a few more people. After all, once we get to Turtle Island, the beach is full of turtles. Although they are not aggressive, it will take quite a bit of work to move them onto the boat."

"It's always good to have a few more laborers."

Upon hearing this, Niu Ba immediately grasped the key point and feigned a broad smile.

"Hey, Boss Song, have you already identified which island has sea turtles? Shall we just go there?"

Old Song said smugly, "Of course, when I contacted Boss Zhou last time, I only knew roughly that the sea turtle was on a certain island in a certain sea area."

"But now I've found out exactly which island it is, so I can drive there directly."

"If you want to make some money, that's no problem at all. But, Brother Niu, we're not that close. I can take you with me, for Boss Zhou's sake, but you'll have to pay a deposit."

He Zhenzhen finally spoke up this time.

"Deposit? What deposit? When we go out to sea with you to hunt sea turtles, in a way we're helping you make money. We make a small profit, and you make a big profit, so why do we need to collect a deposit?"

Old Song said in a serious tone, "Who knows if you will do as I tell you when you go to sea, or if you will bring another group of people to fight me for the sea turtles, or if you will cause trouble when you get to shore and scare the sea turtles away."

"Therefore, to prevent these losses, a deposit is necessary. Don't worry, once you've collected the deposit and come with me to sea, as long as you don't cause any trouble, the deposit will be fully refunded upon our return."

"I'll pay you whatever amount you're due, but without a deposit, there's no point in discussing it."

He waved his hand.

The other burly men also waved their hands at the same time.

"No deposit, no discussion!"

Niu Bayi chuckled and said, "Sure, it's just a deposit, Boss Song. How much do you want, 100 yuan or 50 yuan?"

Song Laohei burst into laughter, laughing loudly.

The others laughed, their laughter tinged with sarcasm.

He Zhenzhen said irritably, "Have you taken medication meant for mental patients? You're laughing like madmen. My husband asked how much deposit we need, what are you laughing at?"

She had no liking for these people and spoke without any restraint.

Song Laohei stopped laughing and gave He Zhenzhen a cold stare.

"Brother Niu, your wife is really fierce. Tell her not to talk nonsense, or she'll get beaten up if she tries to walk around in society like this."

Then he held up one finger.

"I don't care how many people you bring, even if you go alone, but each person has to pay a deposit of 1000 yuan."

He Zhenzhen was taken aback, then immediately shouted.

"A deposit of 1000 yuan per person? You're robbing us!"

Old Song's expression changed. He pointed towards the door and said coldly, "If you want to come with us, each of you has to pay a deposit of 1000 yuan. If you don't think it's appropriate, that's the door. Goodbye."

The other men were also muttering to themselves:

"Damn it, I don't think 1000 yuan is much. It's not like I need your money. I'll pay you back when I catch the turtle!"

"If they're not happy about it, it means they're not sincere. They'll definitely cause trouble. We're better off without them!"

"It's just a 1000 yuan deposit, nothing big. Come with us to hunt sea turtles, and if things go smoothly, you can earn at least two or three hundred yuan per trip. It's not like we're not going to return the deposit!"

……

After thinking for a moment, Niu Bayi clapped his hands.

"A deposit of 1000 yuan per person, right? Okay, it's me and my wife going, so that's 2000 yuan, right?"

Old Song nodded readily.

"That's right, you're really good at calculating, it's 2000 yuan."

He stretched out his hand.

The two of them had brought money with them, which was in their handbags.

All the money I earned these past few days is still there. I plan to go to the bank and deposit it after I finish looking for Song Laohei.

Niu Bayi unzipped his jacket, took out two stacks of ten-yuan notes, and slammed them on the table.

"Boss Song, I'm a straightforward person. Here's my 2000 yuan deposit. Could you please write me a receipt so I can feel more at ease?"

Old Song laughed heartily and clapped his hands.

"Of course, hey, you inside, get me some paper and pen."

A woman in her forties, with a somewhat haggard face, walked out of the house.

She held a pen and paper in her hand, and without saying a word, she walked over, placed the pen and paper on the table, and then turned around and walked back.

This must be Song Laohei's wife; she has some scars on her face and neck.

The injury was clearly recent.

I reckon she was subjected to domestic violence by Song Laohei or something.

Old Song gripped the pen, chewed on the tip for a while, and then wrote down more than twenty words in a crooked manner, which basically made the matter clear. He then signed his name.

Then, he pushed it under Niu Ba's skin.

"Here's the receipt, keep it safe. And I'll keep this 2000 yuan too."

He couldn't wait to grab the two stacks of ten-yuan notes, stuff them into his pocket, and a greedy look appeared on his face.

Several burly men around him also stared intently at the two stacks of banknotes, their faces revealing malicious smiles.

He Zhenzhen saw that smile and felt a little uneasy.

She immediately asked, "Alright, I've collected the deposit, so when are we going out to sea to hunt sea turtles together?"

Old Song laughed and scratched the back of his head, saying, "We'll depart from the city dock at nine o'clock sharp tomorrow morning."

After a slight pause, he continued, "Brother Niu, you have a fishing boat too, right? You can set off with mine in your boat. Your boat should be able to carry quite a few sea turtles, and I'll give you an extra share of the profits."

"That Turtle Island is teeming with turtles. We can catch as many as the boat can carry, and we'll make a fortune together, hahaha."
