The sky darkened further than before, with hazy sunlight filtering through the clouds, casting the entire snowfield in a uniform, cold white hue.

Xiao Douzi picked up the small bucket, and the red bucket swayed in her hand twice. The red color stood out brightly against the gray and white sky, like an unintentional stroke of vermilion falling on an ink painting.

The bottom of the bucket was still covered with bits of snow that had been shoveled earlier, and fine white snowflakes fell off with each shake.

She turned and ran towards the villa, her snow boots crunching on the snow, each step leaving a small footprint.

A sudden gust of cold wind blew, making a few strands of hair on her forehead fly up and brush against her cheeks, which were slightly red from exercise, bringing a touch of coolness.

Little Douzi ran back into the villa, stomping her snow boots on the doormat to shake off the snow.

The snowflakes quickly melted into tiny water droplets on the floor mat. She sniffed, then stretched out her two gloved little hands, pushed open the door, and went inside.

Not long after, she reappeared at the door, her small bucket now stuffed full.

Bows, silk flowers, small scarves, beads, a few carrots she found in the kitchen, and two red woolen hats she found in her walk-in closet...

Xiao Douzi carried the bucket back to the snow and put it down. With a soft "plop," the bottom of the bucket pressed a small dent into the snow.

Then they began to enthusiastically decorate the snowmen and small animals.

She first took out two of the largest black beads from the bucket. The beads had a glossy coating on their surface, which shone with a warm luster under the snow.

Pick up a snowman, stand on tiptoe, use one hand to support the snowman's round belly for balance, and stretch the other hand upwards.

His little arms were stretched straight out, his fingertips trembled slightly in the air, and he was also trying to press his eyes into the snowman's head.

But the snowman was much taller than her, and even when Xiaodouzi stood on tiptoe and trembled, her fingertips were still far from her eyes.

She let out a deflated "hmm," her toes landing back on the ground, and looked up at the snowman's blank face.

She then looked to Lin Ye for help: "Godfather, I can't reach it... Could you help me?"

The exhaled white breath floated upwards in clumps, condensing into small patches of white mist in the cold, overcast air, only to be dispersed by the next clump.

Lin Ye bent down behind her, a smile playing on his lips: "Of course, Godfather would be more than happy to oblige."

He slipped one hand under her knees and the other hand under her back, gently lifting her up and holding her steadily in his arms.

The movements were extremely slow and gentle, as if lifting a fragile piece of porcelain.

Then he moved his arm, letting Xiao Douzi sit on one of his arms. Xiao Douzi's legs swung beside him, and snowflakes fell from his snow boots.

Xiao Douzi instinctively reached out and hugged Lin Ye's neck, part of her pink waterproof glove brushing against the back of his neck, feeling the coolness brought back from the snow.

After Lin Ye held her tightly, he bent down again, picked up the small red bucket full of ornaments, and hung it on the wrist of the hand holding Xiao Douzi so that Xiao Douzi could easily take it.

The red bucket swayed gently in mid-air, the beads inside colliding and making a soft rustling sound.

With his other hand, he kept supporting Xiaodouzi's outer shoulder to prevent her from tilting to one side.

After squatting down, Xiaodouzi was at eye level with the snowman.

She stretched out her arms and pressed the two black beads into the snowman's face, one on each side, and then used her fingers to rub around the beads to reinforce them.

Then he took out a carrot from the bucket. The carrot had already been processed; its skin was orange-red, smooth, and plump, and it still had a small section of broken green stem attached to its base.

I couldn't resist putting it under my nose and smelling it. The unique sweet scent of carrots filled my nostrils, mixed with the cold air from the snow, and smelled especially good.

She inserted the carrot into the center below the snowman's eye, then looked at it from left to right. It was a little crooked, so she pulled it out and reinserted it.

After repositioning the carrot, she pressed it firmly into the soil, adjusted the angle left and right, and only stopped when she was satisfied that it was upright from any direction.

Then Xiaodouzi picked out a small scarf, a light gray one that Lin Ye often used. The scarf wasn't very long, only about one and a half times.

One end was tucked inside to secure it, while the other end hung down to the side of the round belly. Then, the scarf was patted with the palm of the hand to smooth out the wrinkles.

Next, it was time to put on the hat. Lin Ye held the little girl higher, and she leaned forward, leaning out of Lin Ye's arms, holding a little red hat in her hand.

The hat was a little small; once it was put on, the knitted hat stretched out quite a bit, and the gaps between the yarns revealed glimpses of the snowman's white head.

Xiao Douzi scratched his head, leaned back against Lin Ye and examined him carefully. It seemed—not bad, not ugly.

Then Xiaodouzi chose two oval-shaped pieces of paper as blush for the snowman. The paper was light pink and looked like flower petals.

She stuck the paper pieces to both sides of the snowman's cheeks, pressed the four corners with her fingers to make sure they were stuck, and then took out a brown pipe cleaner.

The pipe cleaner was bent between her fingers, making a soft "rustling" sound. After bending it, she held it up to her eyes, adjusted the height of the upturned ends, and then carefully embedded it into the snow.

The snowman's head was almost done; she could reach the remaining small pouch herself. With a gentle struggle, Lin Ye knew she wanted to get down and steadily placed her back on the snow.

Then she grabbed a large handful of colorful little bows from the bucket with both hands.

The ribbons piled up in her small palms into a colorful little mountain, some of the satin gleaming softly in the snow.

Little Douzi looked at Lin Ye, who was still standing up because he had noticed her movements, with bright, sparkling eyes. Her eyes were exceptionally clear in the snow, and Lin Ye's half-squatting figure was reflected in her pupils.

"Godfather, could you please put these ribbons on the little animals for me?"

Her voice was crisp and clear, especially pleasant in the cool air, with a slight upward inflection at the end, carrying a soft and coquettish tone.

Lin Ye reached out and took it, smiling gently, and said confidently, "No problem, don't worry about leaving it to Godfather!"

Little Douzi immediately beamed, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons: "Thank you, Godfather! Godfather is the best!"

She then began to give the little snowman next to her eyes, nose, and mouth.

She used two slightly smaller black beads from the bucket for eyes, a shorter carrot for the nose, and a shorter pipe cleaner as well.

Little Pocket originally wanted to use a white scarf, the same color as herself, but after draping the white scarf around the snowman's neck, she discovered—

Once the white scarf was put on, it almost blended into the snow, and it was barely noticeable unless you looked closely, so I gave up on it.

In the end, Xiaodouzi chose a red one that she often wore besides white and wrapped it around her body, with a section hanging down along one side of her round body.
