The God of War Who Protects the Nation: Starting with Saving a Mother and Daughter in Distress
Chapter 266 Enjoying a Life of Romantic Bliss
The next morning, Qin An was awakened by a warm touch in his palm.
The sunlight had just pierced through the window paper, casting a hazy, dim glow.
When he opened his eyes, he found that his right arm had somehow slipped into Tong Rong's blanket.
My palms were habitually placed where they should be.
Tong Rong lay curled up in the blanket with her back to him, her breathing still even, but her ears were already bright red.
Qin An's finger twitched as if by some strange impulse.
Tong Rong shuddered violently; she could no longer pretend to be asleep.
She clutched the corner of the blanket and turned around, her cheeks flushed crimson. She glared at him, but her glare lacked any real threat: "General...where are you putting your hands...?"
"I didn't put it there." Qin An withdrew his hand without changing his expression, rested it behind his head, and looked at her. "You pulled it over yourself."
Tong Rong bit her lower lip, wanting to refute but unable to find the words. She had indeed snuggled closer to that spot in her sleep, feeling cold in the middle of the night and instinctively seeking out the warmer source.
Who knew that as soon as I crawled through, I was grabbed.
Blushing, she reached out and pulled his hand from under the covers, tucking it back into his own hand, muttering softly, "You're moving around before your injury has healed..."
"I used my right hand."
"That won't work either."
As Tong Rong spoke, she turned over and sat up. Two buttons on the collar of her inner garment were loosened, revealing a small patch of snow-white skin on her collarbone and shoulder.
As she bent down to button her clothes, she noticed Qin An's gaze on her and paused for a moment.
She looked up and glared at me, her eyes filled with reproach, yet also with barely concealed embarrassment: "If you keep looking, General, you won't get any breakfast today."
Clearly, even though the two had already been intimate, Tong Rong was still a little reserved.
Qin An withdrew his gaze, closed his eyes to rest, and smirked slightly without saying a word.
When Tong Rong brought in a basin of water to help him wash up, he became obedient and let her wipe his face and change his dressing.
The wound on my left arm has scabbed over and looks much better than last night. The bruise on my back has also faded considerably.
Tong Rong was exceptionally gentle when changing his dressing, but she still couldn't help but scold him: "Yesterday you said you were fine, but you frowned when you turned over in bed in the middle of the night."
You've misjudged.
"I can see it clearly."
Qin An was too lazy to argue and let her nag.
After changing the dressing and having breakfast, Tong Rong went to clean up the dishes, while Qin An sat in the yard basking in the sun for a while.
New buds sprouted on the old locust tree with broken branches, and sparrows hopped around on the branches. He moved his left arm; it hurt, but it was much less than yesterday.
The system's recovery was faster than he had imagined. He could feel his wounds healing, and the warmth emanating from within was more effective than any medicine.
For the next two weeks, Qin An stayed in Shaanxi City to recuperate.
Tong Rong would cook different dishes for him every day, such as chicken soup, fish soup, and braised pork knuckle. She would make sure he finished every meal before she would clear the table.
Qin An tried to touch her twice, but she slapped him away both times, giving the same reason over and over again: "Don't even think about it until your injury has healed."
But her bottom line is indeed gradually shrinking.
For the first few days, Qin An was only allowed to touch him, letting him have his way with the act.
Later, seeing that Qin An's injuries were indeed not that serious and that he was still as vigorous and energetic as ever, they stopped stopping him from taking advantage of the situation.
By the tenth day, the bruises on Qin An's back had mostly faded, and he could raise his left arm to shoulder height. Tong Rong would even take the initiative to help alleviate the pain.
Fearing that Qin An's injuries might leave any lasting effects, she stubbornly held firm to her principles, refusing to let Qin An lose his strength.
Every time Qin An tried to take things a step further, she would say, "That's enough, that's enough."
Qin An certainly knew that wasn't enough.
But seeing her blushing yet stubbornly holding onto her last line of defense was quite amusing.
On the morning of the fifteenth day, Qin An felt refreshed when he opened his eyes.
The wound on my left arm has completely healed, leaving only a light pink scar.
There was no more soreness or tightness in my back when I moved around.
He sat up and moved his shoulders a couple of times to make sure he was completely fine.
When Tong Rong brought in breakfast, she saw him standing in front of the bed doing chest-expanding exercises. She was taken aback and asked, "General, why are you up so early today?"
Qin An turned around and looked at her, his gaze slowly moving from her fingers holding the tray to her face.
Tong Rong felt a chill run down her spine under his gaze and instinctively took a half-step back: "What...what are you doing?"
Qin An did not answer.
He took two steps forward, and with a sweep of his right arm, he embraced her and the tray together.
Tong Rong gasped as the tray nearly tipped over, but he caught it with one hand and placed it on the table. Then he picked her up and put her back on the bed.
"General! Breakfast is getting cold..."
"I'll reheat it if it gets cold, but all I want right now is a good meal."
After Qin An finished speaking, he leaned down and kissed him.
Tong Rong's resistance lasted less than a breath before her arms wrapped around his neck, her sobs muffled between their intertwined lips.
Her tongue responded clumsily to his, and when he released her, her lips were slightly swollen and her eyes were watery.
"Is the injury...healed?" she asked breathlessly.
"alright."
As Qin An spoke, he used his right hand to untie the ties of her inner garment.
The thin shirt slipped off her shoulders, revealing a patch of smooth skin.
Tong Rong instinctively tried to pull the blanket over herself, but he grabbed her wrist and pressed it above her head.
"You...you be gentle." She turned her head away, not daring to look at him, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible.
Qin An lowered his head and kissed the side of her neck.
Having endured for half a month, Qin An had no intention of wasting any more time.
Tong Rong's breathing became more and more rapid. At first, she bit her lower lip and refused to make a sound, but later she couldn't help it anymore.
Soft sobs escaped from between her teeth, clearly indicating that she was also moved by emotions.
To be honest, her longing for Qin An was even greater than her longing for him.
After all, Qin An was a seasoned veteran, but she was only a virgin that one night.
During this time, Qin An kept teasing her, and she missed him terribly.
She only restrained herself because of Qin An's injuries.
Now that Qin An has almost fully recovered, Tong Rong has no more worries.
Qin An had been tormented by this alluring vixen for quite some time.
Now that he could finally break his vow, Qin An's excitement was palpable.
Soon, Qin An personally verified that Tong Rong's body was even more supple than he remembered.
Two weeks of rest made her a bit plumper, with fuller curves in the right places.
After an unknown amount of time, Tong Rong was the first to give in. She collapsed into Qin An's arms, her fingernails scratching several red marks on his back.
It took him a while to calm down.
Qin An looked down at the woman who was limp in his arms. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes were moist, and her lips were slightly parted as she breathed heavily.
"General..." She reached out to push against his chest, but couldn't muster any strength. "That's enough..."
Qin An hugged her tighter, rested his chin on her head, and didn't move.
Tong Rong nestled in his arms, her breathing gradually becoming steady. After a long while, she muttered, "Don't hurt yourself again."
"it is good."
"You agreed so quickly."
Qin An chuckled but didn't reply.
The sunlight outside the window had moved to the center, and the bowl of breakfast on the table had indeed gone cold.
Tong Rong's legs were still trembling when she went to heat up the food, wrapped in a blanket, and she walked unsteadily.
Qin An leaned against the headboard, watching her back as she walked away, a slight smile playing on his lips.
……
While Qin An was enjoying himself with women in Shaanxi, Yuwen Rong was bored out of his mind in his camp at the front.
"Are they going to fight or not?" Yuwen Rong was extremely frustrated after personally leading a patrol once again, only to find no opportunity to have sex.
He slammed the gilded halberd to the ground, causing the table in the central command tent to jump.
Cheng Zhiyuan, who was eating meat nearby, was so startled by this that he almost swallowed the bone.
"General, please calm down!" Cheng Zhiyuan wiped his mouth. "The rebels are holding their ground, and there's nothing we can do about it."
"No other way?" Yuwen Rong glared at him. "Why don't you come fight me?"
Cheng Zhiyuan immediately raised the large piece of meat to his chest as a shield: "This humble general still needs to keep this life to serve tea and water to the Great General."
The generals nearby either chuckled quietly or pretended not to hear.
Yuwen Rong snorted, walked to the map and stared at the location of the rebel camp for a long time, then suddenly slammed his fist on the map.
"That Qin An brat has been recuperating for so long! If he doesn't come back soon, I'll personally go to Shaanxi and drag him back!"
Despite saying this, Yuwen Rong did not take any action, but instead asked about the situation on Li Jing's side.
"How's Li Jing doing these days? Any new battle reports?"
When Li Jing was mentioned, Yuwen Rong couldn't help but smile.
This kid really made himself look good.
I was worried that I would be extremely busy after Qin An returned to the city to recuperate.
But as it turned out, Qin An's brother-in-law was quite capable, saving him a lot of trouble.
Upon hearing Yuwen Rong mention Li Jing, Cheng Zhiyuan smiled smugly: "General, what a coincidence! Li Jing just sent someone with a battle report."
"Just tell me the situation." Yuwen Rong said without even looking up.
"At midnight last night, a rebel grain transport team set off from the west gate of Luocheng, taking the northern rural road, with about three hundred soldiers and forty grain carts."
"Li Jing led 500 cavalry to ambush at Shili Slope, killing more than 70 escorting soldiers, burning 32 grain carts, and the remaining eight carts overturned into the ditch and could not be recovered. Our army suffered casualties, with two killed and seven wounded."
Yuwen Rong was already used to seeing such battle reports.
During this period, Li Jing barely stopped, leading his troops to launch attacks in all directions.
Good news kept pouring in, and although there weren't any earth-shattering gains, the results were continuous.
More importantly, they themselves suffered virtually no losses.
Yuwen Rong tossed the wiping cloth aside, picked up the battle report, read it through, and slowly grinned, "This kid is interesting."
He stood up, walked to the map, and drew a circle with his finger around the location of the rural road to the north.
"Shili Slope is twelve miles north of the rebel camp. Logically, it should be Wang Chong's defense zone. How could Wang Chong's men have their supplies intercepted on their own territory, and not even a messenger could get back?"
"One ran back," Cheng Zhiyuan added. "Li Jing let it escape on purpose. He said he wanted the people in the rebel camp to see with their own eyes what the grain carts looked like after they burned."
"Damn it," Luo Kai muttered from the side.
Yuwen Rong laughed heartily: "Just like his brother-in-law! This is trying to kill him by destroying his spirit. I wonder just how far this kid is capable?"
