I became a farmer in the apocalypse.

Lin An: "After that, I also went out to the fields to pick up trash. Once the trash in the fields was gone, those people would have to go to places a little further away to find trash. Going to places a little further away is too dangerous for them. We are physically fit, so we can go to places a little further away."

Lu Mingjue nodded.

He added, "I also ordered grape iced tea from Jiang Li, so everyone can have a cup."

Lin An's eyes widened. "Grape iced tea?"

How come she didn't know?

"It was made by Jiang Li's sister," Lu Mingjue said. "You went to the safe zone early this morning, so you'll see when you go to the farm."

Speaking of Jiang Li's sister, Lu Mingjue recalled something.

"I feel like I've seen Jiang Li's sister somewhere before. She looks familiar."

Lin An: "They're all from the same base, so it's normal that you've seen her before. Besides, Jiang Li's sister is very beautiful, it's hard for her not to leave a deep impression."

"No, I think I saw her in a photo."

"Photos?" Lin An asked, puzzled. "What photos?"

Lu Mingjue couldn't remember either. He only vaguely remembered seeing Jiang Tang's face in someone's photo, which did leave an impression, but he couldn't remember whose photo it was or the scene at the time.

Lin An looked at him suspiciously, "You don't actually like her, do you?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Mingjue's face immediately darkened. "I didn't mean that! I just did see her photo."

Although Jiang Li's sister is indeed very beautiful, surely he wouldn't fall for her at first sight? Is he such a superficial person?

Moreover, it's best if the patrol soldiers don't get married, because they might die any day now, and getting married would only bring trouble to others.

"Oh, right, I have something important to tell you." Lin An looked at Lu Mingjue seriously and said, "Jiang Li and I found a banana tree outside, and she asked if you were interested in picking some?"

Lu Mingjue: "Where is it?"

"In a dense forest, a bit far from here, more than 30 kilometers away, there is a very rare evolved banana tree."

The so-called evolved banana tree is different from the mutated banana tree.

For plants, evolution is the end point of alienation. It occurs after alienation. Plants must endure an incredibly long period of alienation before they can usher in their own evolution.

The probability is approximately three in ten thousand.

The evolved plants retain their advantages and disadvantages, and their genes will change again, turning them into edible healthy plants. They retain the genes for large fruits and disease and cold resistance from the alienation period, but they also gradually complete the process of "detoxification".

This phenomenon is extremely rare.

"How many bananas can you harvest from that evolved banana tree you mentioned?" Lu Mingjue asked.

Lin An: "At least a thousand catties."

The banana tree was incredibly thick, resembling a small house, with countless bananas wrapped around its trunk like a hornet's nest.

Lu Mingjue glanced at her. "If you could really gather so many bananas, why didn't you gather any? Are there mutated beasts around?"

"Hmm." Lin An nodded. "There are mutated wild monkeys nearby, and I can't handle them."

Lu Mingjue knew this was the case.

Generally speaking, a large evolved plant will inevitably be surrounded by large mutated beasts, or gregarious mutated beasts.

The birth of evolved plants attracts countless mutated beasts, all wanting to possess them. Some mutated beasts even fight over the evolved plants.

They also know it's a good thing.

Take the evolved banana tree, for example. Not only does it produce an astonishing amount of fruit, but while a regular banana tree might only bear fruit once a year, an evolved banana tree might bear fruit every three months.

Therefore, a banana tree represents a continuous supply of bananas. As long as you possess it, you don't need to go out hunting for food anymore; you can have a continuous supply of food by relying on this tree.

Lu Mingjue inquired in detail: "How many mutated wild monkeys are there nearby? What is their size?"

"More than twenty, each two meters long."

Upon hearing this, Lu Mingjue said with a serious expression, "We can't solve this problem on our own. We need to report it to the base and have them send someone to handle it."

Lin An: "Why can't we solve this? Don't we have guns?"

Lu Mingjue: "There are forty or fifty people on our side. You said there are more than twenty mutated beasts. On average, two people have to deal with a mutated beast that is longer than a person. The risk is a bit too high. I don't want to see unnecessary sacrifices."

"Besides, we can't possibly send all our personnel to deal with these mutated wild monkeys. If everyone leaves, who will guard the fields?"

Therefore, in terms of quantity, it is not an absolute advantage.

Secondly, the mutated beasts are tough and thick-skinned; it would take many people focusing their fire to kill a single mutated monkey beast.

If the enemy fails to kill the enemy immediately and launches a counterattack, their explosive speed of 60 kilometers per hour means they can get close in a second, and the army will be torn in two.

Lin An asked, "Then what do you suggest we do?"

Lu Mingjue: "The only option is to send a special operations team from above. They need to develop a specific action plan based on the terrain and the characteristics of the mutated wild monkeys. All members must be advanced evolved humans. Anyone below level four would be sent to their death."

As he spoke, Lu Mingjue hurriedly ate his meal. "After I finish eating, I'll write a report on this matter. That place isn't far from here, which means it's not far from the safe zone either. With such a big security risk, the higher-ups will definitely take action to resolve it. This isn't something we need to worry about."

"Mm." Lin An nodded.

I originally thought I could keep the banana tree for myself, but I didn't expect that I would need someone from above to deal with it, which means that the banana tree would have to be confiscated.

"What about Jiang Li? She's the one who found this banana tree. She said she'd give her a share after we harvested the bananas, since she was the one who provided the location and information."

Lu Mingjue thought for a moment, "Evolved plants are very precious resources. As the person who provided the information, Jiang Li will definitely receive some reward from above. Of course, if she wants bananas, giving her some bananas should not be a problem."

In short, he will report the situation truthfully, and how the base will arrange things will depend on what the higher-ups decide.

"That will work too."

Lin An returned to the farm and told Jiang Li about it.

"This matter is more complicated than we imagined. The higher-ups are sending people over. As the person who provided the information, you can get a bonus or some bananas."

Jiang Li wasn't particularly concerned about the bonus.

She had only one request: "Could I touch that banana tree when the time comes?"

She could light up the encyclopedia simply by touching it, and she wanted to light it up. She wondered what the effect would be after lighting up a rare plant encyclopedia.

Lin An was stunned to find that Jiang Li had made such a request.

Although she didn't know why Jiang Li wanted to touch the banana tree, she still agreed, "I'll talk to Lu Mingjue. Once we clear out the mutated beasts around here, you can touch it without worry."
