Red Dragon, but chosen by all four gods

Chapter 56 Corleone's Idea

Heros slowly awoke in the lava pool.

Generally speaking, dragons are mostly quite lazy because they have a much higher desire to sleep than other races.

Heros, who only takes a short nap when he is exhausted and spends most of his time busy as soon as he opens his eyes, is an oddball among oddballs.

Because of Heros, the young dragons under his command also imitated Heros in order to receive the "gift," and they all worked around the clock.

Anyway, dragons are incredibly resilient and physically strong, so the constant physical and mental fatigue is nothing to them.

Aside from Anglu, this guy just sleeps after he's finished hunting.

Ironically, he received the most "gifts" and still maintains an absolute advantage in combat power over the other three young dragons within the dragon horde.

This made the three young dragons, who worked from dawn till dusk, extremely jealous.

The sound of wind breaking came from outside the cave, and Heros knew who had come, so he stepped out of the lava pool.

The environment here is far too harsh for ordinary people.

Upon exiting the cave, Heros indeed saw a small creature dangling from Mortar's claws, flying towards Heros's dragon nest.

"Brother, I have brought the retinue I wish to convert."

Heros lowered his eyes slightly and looked at the small figure on the ground.

Even compared to ordinary mortals, let alone dragons, this person was exceptionally short.

Heros remembered him; when the Galahren family was destroyed, he followed Mokello and was brought to the vicinity of Galahren Castle by Faldom and Magron.

At the time, he clamored that he wanted to serve the Golden Dragon Court. Later, it seems that he followed Inanna back to White River Valley to deal with the criminals sent by various lords and nobles, and to manage the lower-class citizens of Galahron.

To be honest, Heros hadn't paid much attention to him, but he never expected that he would win Mortal's favor again.

"So you're Little Corleone from the Plain of Vilding?"

"Yes, yes, great, magnificent red dragon..."

Corleone seemed to feel immense pressure in the face of Herlos.

This has nothing to do with Herlos's much larger size than Mortar's, but rather a feeling.

It's a feeling that your will can be pierced with just a glance or a word.

Fortunately, this feeling was fleeting. After Corleone knelt down, he suddenly felt a lightness all over his body, and the inexplicable pressure disappeared in the blink of an eye, as if it had never existed.

Heros confirmed that this little guy was indeed weak.

Not only their physical bodies, but also their willpower is weaker than that of ordinary mortals.

He only used gentle persuasion and applied a little pressure through his words, and little Corleone couldn't take it anymore.

Even with such physical strength and willpower, like Inanna's, the risk of transformation is still very high, even if it involves expending far more true blood than necessary.

Heros looked at Mortal, who had been assisting Heros with the conversion surgery and knew very well what he cared about.

"Brother, his value is not in his physical body. He is good at farming, and the fields he cultivates yield much more than those of other fields."

"So, what's your thought?"

"Since he might not survive the most basic modification surgery, then we'll weaken him further, without any enhancements, and just give him some dragon-blood characteristics for now."

Motar explained very quickly:

"I have been to the Plain of Welding, where those short mortals are cowardly and afraid of trouble, and dare not join the great cause of the Golden Dragon Court."

"So Corleone proposed that he should transform into a dragonborn first, to prove to his people that transformation was not dangerous and that they could gain the power they dreamed of."

Upon hearing this, Heros lowered his eyes again to look at the little Corleone kneeling on the ground.

"Was what Mortar said your idea?"

"Yes."

Without the oppression of his will, Corleone's words immediately became fluent:

"My people are born weak, skilled only in farming and hiding, and exceptionally prolific in bearing children. For a long time, we have relied on the lord's army and the protection of the Golden Dragon Court to survive."

"Our greatest wish is to have a stable and fertile land so that we can grow more food in peace and security."

"However, this does not mean that my people do not want to be strong or fear death; we are simply used to a life without power."

"This habit makes us unconsciously pull back when faced with opportunities, needing someone to give us a push."

"As long as I can prove to my people that the true dragon will grant them power, they will put aside their concerns and eagerly work for the Dragon Court."

Hearing this, Heros raised his eyelids, genuinely surprised.

Although this short man was neither physically nor mentally strong, he was very intelligent.

Unlike Inanna, whose success came from hardship and learning, his tone revealed simplicity.

Heros was able to discern through his gentle persuasion that he had not considered these questions before, but had found the answer when Mortar raised them.

No wonder she was able to break free from the shackles of her clan's nature, run off to White River Valley alone, and later follow Inanna all the way to Dragon's Nest, where she was chosen by Mortar.

"I understand your thoughts. You will be granted the identity of a Mortal Dragonborn, and I look forward to the outcome you have described."

"Thank you for your blessing, Dragon Lord!" Little Corleone was overjoyed. His long-cherished wish was finally about to come true.

Mortal should have been happy, as this would mean she would be the first among the other young dragons to have her own familiar.

What's more, she felt that power again last night, it was her brother's "gift".

However, for some reason, she felt a little unsafe at that moment.

She keenly sensed that her brother seemed to admire Corleone, who was a small man.

This kind of "appreciation" is something I don't even have.

The green dragon's innate jealousy was kicking in, and Mortar even had a slight urge to compete with Corleone for it.

But she also instinctively felt that it was hilarious.

She is a real dragon, while Corleone is merely a servant who has gained her favor. How could a real dragon be jealous of its servant?

With that thought in mind, Motar quickly composed himself.

"Brother, I'll go prepare some true blood first, and then teach him some precautions before the transformation surgery."

"Go ahead, reducing the number of surgical procedures is simpler. No need to call Maglen anymore. Just come find me when you're ready."

Upon hearing that there was no need to call the blue dragon, Mortar's remaining displeasure vanished instantly.

It's good to be able to enjoy my brother's company for a while.

Even if the other participant is a male dragon, it would be the same.

Mortal was generally happy as he led Corleone away from the experimental cave.

Heros then turned and walked towards the observation area.

The little wolf girl should be awake by now; he'll go check on her and see how she's adjusting.

After what happened to Little Corleone, Heros suddenly felt that he didn't need to handle the White Mist Forest matter himself.

Inanna will soon be back to building the settlement and experimental caves, but Tarek is also a promising talent, so perhaps we can let him gain some experience.
