Greek Mythology: Starting with Becoming the God of the Breeze
Chapter 20 The God King's Edict
"Look! Who's here?"
Upon sensing the presence of the newcomer, Gaia's tone instantly became sarcastic and unpleasant.
This tone doesn't sound like something a mother of gods or an incarnation of the earth could say; it sounds more like the tone of an empty-nest elderly person or a resentful woman.
This is not because He lost His composure or disregarded His dignity as the mother of all things.
The main reason was that the visitor's identity made it impossible for Him to remain calm and composed.
"So it was the king of gods who ruled heaven and earth, the noble and powerful Cronus."
"Why aren't you waiting to be overthrown on your throne, the throne of a god-king? Why are you on this ordinary island?"
Amidst Gaia's mocking and discontented tone, a tall and imposing figure appeared in the air.
It was Cronus!
"...Mother Goddess, I've told you many times, the Hundred-Handed Giants and Cyclopes are far too powerful, and they can completely threaten the rule of us Titans."
"I'm already doing you a favor by not killing them."
"After all, imprisoning them in Tartarus is not the end. I can imprison them, but sooner or later someone will release them. They are ultimately a hidden danger to our Titan pantheon."
After Cronus revealed himself, a look of helplessness appeared on his face, but it was quickly replaced by determination.
"What did you say? That's your brother!"
Gaia unsurprisingly erupted in anger upon hearing Cronus's words.
Those giants were His children, no different from His other children.
He would never allow his own child to be seen as a threat!
Upon hearing this, a hint of gloom flashed across Cronus's eyes.
Over the long years, He has argued with Mother Earth about this matter hundreds of times.
But each time the result was unsatisfactory.
He could not persuade Gaia to abandon the so-called mother-child bond, nor could Gaia persuade Him to ignore the threat posed by the giants' immense power.
This is why His relationship with Gaia deteriorated, to the point that they would exchange sarcastic remarks whenever they met.
Suppressing his inner turmoil, Cronus turned his attention to his main target – Kanas.
Kanas's power has now risen from a weak divine force to a low-level divine force.
Moreover, once Kanas has fully digested what he has gained, it will be a natural progression for him to become a mid-level god.
From His perspective, the divine power within Kanas had expanded to an extreme, but due to Kanas's own condition, it had not immediately risen to the level of intermediate divine power.
How long has it been since Kanas became a god...?
Was it a year?
(The calendar in the Chaos world is currently incomplete; the near-immortal Titans generally use years, centuries, and millennia as units of measurement.)
Kronos reflected on what he had done over the past year and realized that he seemed to have done nothing except guard against those vague acts of rebellion.
Thinking of this, Cronus couldn't help but feel a little hesitant.
Did He really do something wrong?
Should He not have taken that prophecy seriously? Should He have focused all his energy on governing the world of Chaos?
Seeing Kanas's growth and feeling the positive and energetic spirit of the younger god, Cronus's originally cold and stubborn heart was slightly shaken.
He lived too long!
He had grown so old that he had forgotten that he, in his youth, was as energetic as Kanas, who led his brothers and sisters in a brave rebellion against the tyranny of their father, Uranus, and ascended to the throne of the gods through his personal charm and achievements.
He recalled the look of adoration and joy in the eyes of his brothers and sisters when he first ascended the throne of God.
Their relationship at that time was so pure....
But why has everything changed now?
Cronus had to admit that he was somewhat confused at this moment.
However, being a god-king after all, He quickly brought his wandering thoughts back and focused his attention on the "important matter" before him.
"Congratulations, Kanas."
Cronus's tone was very calm, even somewhat friendly.
"In just a few decades since its birth, it has created the 'gentle breeze' with its own abilities and successfully ascended to godhood, becoming a primordial deity protected by the world."
"And now, having become a god in just one year, you have once again added new splendor to the world of Chaos."
"[Hurricane] Ah... what powerful destructive force, and what wondrous structure."
"Cronus exclaimed."
At this moment, the three tornadoes created by Kanas had disappeared, and the hurricane body that had originally formed the water tornadoes receded from the water flow and once again enveloped the area around Karst Island.
The place where the three gods resided was the eye of the hurricane.
Here, there is absolute tranquility, a stark contrast to the raging wind walls on the outside.
In the world of Chaos, there has never been anything that combines two completely opposite concepts.
Upon seeing the hurricane, Kronos was certain that Kanas would be the most dazzling figure in the coming era.
As the king of gods, and the leader of the Titan pantheon and the world of Chaos, Cronus has the obligation and responsibility to provide sufficient help and support to outstanding gods.
"Kanas, from this day forward, you will become a high-ranking member of the Titan pantheon. As the God-King, I grant you the right to establish your own pantheon."
"From this day forward, all deities associated with the element of wind will be incorporated into your pantheon."
"You will control the winds of the Chaos world."
"This is the will of the God-King."
Cronus witnessed firsthand Kanas's potential.
In His view, it was only a matter of time before Kanas became the true god of wind in the world of Chaos.
In the world of Chaos today, apart from the unknown Storm, the only one who can be called the "God of Wind" is Kanas.
Now that he had the best option, Cronus would no longer hesitate.
To become an excellent god-king, besides having sufficient strength, the most important thing is to have vision, to know who has greater potential and to place them in a position where they can shine.
Therefore, He granted Kanas the highest honor He could bestow upon Him as the King of Gods.
He established his own pantheon of wind gods and placed all gods related to wind, past, present, and even future, under his command.
As long as Cronus remains on the throne of the gods, Kanas is the only "legitimate" wind god in the world of Chaos.
The other "wind gods" are His subordinate gods.
