Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night

Chapter 10 Why is there no news about Brother Zhang?

When the call connected, it was quite noisy on Lin Jing's end.

It was like being in a very windy place, with voices, the sound of car doors opening and closing, and someone speaking urgently in the local dialect in the distance.

"Lulu?" Lin Jing lowered her voice. "What's wrong? Didn't you say you found your brother Jiajia? Are you having problems with him?"

Shi Luyu nestled in the blanket, her fingertips gripping the edge of her phone, and paused for a moment.

She had a lot to say. She wanted to say that this "Brother Jiajia" was completely different from when he was a child; he was terribly wicked, and his words always gave people the creeps.

But as the words were about to come out, she remembered that he had stood up for her today and even bought her such an extravagant bunch of cameras.

Shi Luyu was silent for two seconds, then finally asked in a low voice, "No... I just wanted to ask you, what is Jiajia's full name?"

Lin Jing seemed to chuckle. "You can just ask him yourself."

Shi Luyu made up a reason: "I...I'm embarrassed."

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about," Lin Jing said with a hint of indulgence. "His name is Xu... Jia."

However, just as the character "Xu" appeared, a piercing electrical buzzing sound suddenly came from the phone.

Shila-

The signal seemed to be abruptly severed, and the word after "Xu" became indistinct and intermittent, as if seen through a layer of fog.

Shi Luyu was startled and immediately sat up straight: "Feed? Mom, can you say it again? I didn't hear you clearly."

But the background noise became even more chaotic. Someone was calling "President Lin," and someone else was urging them to leave.

Lin Jing said hurriedly, "Lulu, Mom has an important mining area to visit tonight, and the signal is bad, so I have to go now. Be good, take care of yourself, and spend quality time with your brother Jiajia. Mom will call you back later."

The call was abruptly ended.

Shi Luyu held her phone, stunned for a long while.

However, although I didn't hear it completely, I did catch fragments that Jiajia's brother's surname was indeed Xu. It seems it really was just a coincidence.

It was a false alarm. She breathed a sigh of relief and tucked herself back into the covers.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the same city...

In a private villa hidden deep in the night of Taimai, the huge floor-to-ceiling windows are illuminated by lights, like a river silently flowing, soaked in neon lights.

The room was quiet and spacious, the black, white and gray tones were so cold they were almost devoid of warmth, the carpet was thick, the paintings on the walls were outrageously expensive, and there was an air of extravagance in the air.

Xu Yuanjia leaned back lazily on the sofa. On the coffee table in front of him, a silver-gray computer was on, and the monitoring interface was displayed on the screen, with a few waveforms that had just calmed down.

He was a genius in computer technology; he hacked into Shi Luyu's phone, and the abnormal electric current in the girl's phone call with her mother was naturally his doing.

Xu Yuanjia rested his chin on one hand, his black hoodie loose and clean, his expression indifferent.

He had already found out the real "childhood sweetheart" long ago.

Xu Jia.

I'm currently in Singapore. I had promised Shi Luyu's mother that I would look after her daughter. However, a couple of days ago, my mentor suddenly took me to a closed-door venture capital camp, and my phone and external communication are restricted, so I can't come back anytime soon.

What a coincidence.

That really saves a lot of trouble.

Xu Yuanjia looked at the call log on the screen and smiled faintly, his expression ambiguous.

Then, he picked up his phone and sent a friend request.

Half an hour later, Xu Yuanjia's friend request was accepted. His eyebrows twitched slightly, and he typed a line of text with his long fingers:

[Running away so fast, you didn't even want the camera?]

On the other side, Shi Luyu was just about to fall asleep when a message popped up on her phone. She picked it up and glanced at it, and when she saw the familiar tone of voice, her drowsiness instantly vanished.

She pursed her lips, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she typed her reply:

Since you didn't drink my milk tea anyway, I don't want the camera anymore.

The reply came almost instantly:

Still angry?

Shi Luyu stared at those words, and the scene in the alley during the day inexplicably surfaced in her mind again—he leaned down and asked her if that tear was a sign of coquetry, his breath both cold and close, making her heart race wildly.

Her ears burned, and she slammed her phone face down on the bed.

No reply.

Who wants him back?

The doorbell woke her up early the next morning.

Shi Luyu, with her hair all messy, went to open the door. The area outside was empty, but a large pile of packaging boxes was neatly stacked on the ground.

Black, silver, and dark gray, layered upon layered, printed with logos of various high-end brands she knew all too well. The camera and all kinds of accessories were complete, even more complete than what she had seen in the store last night.

She stood at the door, speechless for a long time.

Her mother had said before that "his family is very rich now," but she hadn't really grasped the reality. But seeing all this stuff laid out in front of her made her truly realize—this man was now exaggerating to an extreme.

But looking at all these countless pieces of equipment, she couldn't help but feel a slight tremor in her heart.

10:00 AM, Conference Center, Main Building, Tammy University.

Today, a global academic exchange conference on cutting-edge computational and applied mathematics is being held here.

The conference was of extremely high caliber, with all invited attendees being professors, lab directors, and corporate researchers from various fields such as mathematical modeling, computer science, and algorithm security.

The school specially granted some filming permissions to freshmen like Shi Luyu who were selected for the video project to document their experiences.

She was carrying a new camera and standing at the back of the venue, carefully adjusting the camera parameters.

Until a burst of enthusiastic applause rang out at the front of the venue.

Shi Luyu raised her head and looked through the camera lens.

Under the spotlight, Xu Yuanjia stood on the stage.

He was dressed very simply today, in a white shirt and black trousers. He was tall and slender, with an elegant demeanor, and his long, pale hands held a pen.

Behind him, the screen was filled with complex and dazzling formulas and model images, yet he stood there, his tone relaxed and his emotions indifferent.

"...If the boundary constraints are removed, the optimal solution will not converge locally, but will shift to another set of dynamic equilibria."

"Therefore, the distortion of traditional algorithms in high-dimensional data is not a computational problem, but a problem that the path was wrong from the beginning."

He spoke at a steady pace, yet his thinking was exceptionally clear. The derivations on the projection progressed step by step, drawing frequent nods from professionals in various academic fields in the audience. Even a white-haired scholar sitting in the front row looked up and glanced at him a couple of times.

Shi Luyu was initially just mechanically taking pictures, but as she continued, she found herself unconsciously becoming somewhat stunned.

On stage, Xu Yuanjia was radiant and dazzling, his aura cold and sharp yet carrying a haughty and aloof nobility that silenced all the experts in the conference hall.

At that moment, two girls nearby whispered among themselves.

"This is unbelievable... How can he be so handsome and smart at the same time?"

"This is the first time you've heard of Xu Yuanjia? Everyone at school admires him. His looks, grades, and family background are all amazing."

"Speaking of which, what exactly is his family background?"

"I don't know, it's very mysterious. Didn't Chen Yutang pursue him for two years? But nothing happened."

"Don't even mention Chen Yutang, the most beautiful girl in the department; all those beauties on the campus beauty pageant list fawned over him. Did he even glance at any of them?"

Shi Luyu lowered her head, pretending to be focused on adjusting the camera.

She felt somewhat dazed. Many times, she felt that the carefree man on stage, the arrogant genius that everyone talked about, was completely different from the gentle "Brother Jiajia" she knew when she was young.

Maybe it's because I've grown up.

As they grew up, they both changed a lot, Shi Luyu thought, and she shouldn't always try to get close to him indiscriminately like she did when they were children.

The exchange meeting ended close to noon.

After shooting the last set of shots, Shi Luyu stood by the corridor organizing her equipment. She looked down at the playback screen, deleting a few unusable shots due to poor lighting as she walked, unaware that someone was suddenly hurrying across the corner ahead.

A sudden shove.

She slipped, lost her balance, and almost dropped the camera in her hand.

"ah…"

The expected embarrassing fall to the ground did not happen.

One hand firmly held her waist, while the other promptly caught the camera in her hand.

The force was steady, imbued with a familiar, cool masculine scent.

Still shaken, Shi Luyu instinctively said, "Thank you—"

Then, without realizing it, he looked up.

He met a pair of eyes that held a gentle, smiling gaze.

Xu Yuanjia.

He had just emerged from the other side of the venue, still carrying a hint of the aloof aura he exuded on the podium, yet upon closer inspection, he possessed an indescribable oppressive quality. His hand was still clasped around her waist, the warmth of his palm seeping through the thin fabric of her clothes, making her stiffen.

People around had already noticed them.

Shi Luyu's heart raced, and she almost instinctively wanted to pull away from his embrace and pretend she didn't know him.

But as soon as she moved, the hand on her waist suddenly tightened.

Xu Yuanjia held her with one hand, making her unable to move.

In front of everyone, he listlessly lowered his gaze and stared at her, his tone nonchalant, with a slight lift at the end of his voice:

Why didn't you reply to your brother's messages last night?
